"Why did you choose me again? I'm just a...a mutant. No one ever spares us a second glance." Arthur turned away, not wanting to meet Trista's eyes. Trista's smile dropped from her face as she sympathized with Arthur. She reached out and turned his head back to face her.
"I believe everyone deserves a chance." she began slowly. "Everyone has a hidden beauty. Sometimes we just don't look hard enough. And today, I want to give you a chance."
"T-thank you. Thank you very much." Arthur whispered with tears in his eyes.
Trista's eyes brightened. "It's nothing! Now follow me, we're going shopping!"
The two went from shop to shop, sometimes buying one item, sometimes none. Trista made Arthur try on countless items either nodding firmly in approval or a quick shake of her head and murmuring to herself. Eventually, she settled with a final addition to his outfit. She led Arthur to a building across town, one that he had always seen but never knew what was inside. Arthur's jaw dropped when they went in. From floor to ceiling, there were clothes, accessories, makeup, anything anyone would ever need for fashion. Trista laughed at his reaction and ushered him into a changing room. She dropped all of the shopping bags at his feet and instructed him to put on everything while she went to grab a few finishing things.
A few minutes later, Arthur cautiously stepped out of the fitting room. There was a strange green-grey Aisha waiting outside.
"Oh you look marvellous! Quite stunning if I say so myself!" the Aisha squealed, making Arthur jump.
"Trista? Is that you?" he asked.
"Of course silly! It's my outfit for the night. I call it 'Late Prom Queen-Reborn'," she replied as she led Arthur to a nearby room and sat him down. "And you, you will be my 'Prom King Frankenstein'. Together, we are the Resurrected Duo." And with that, she flew around a makeup table, dabbing and drawing on his face.
"And we're done!" Trista pulled Arthur over to a full-length mirror.
Arthur was stunned when he saw himself. A dazzling suit covered most of his body and a pair of dress shoes covered his hooves. But the suit was slashed as if brambles had been raked across multiple times and the shoes were scuffed beyond repair. One even had a chunk missing from it. His face had a fake stitch running across it among other small pockets and scars, thanks to Trista's makeup. He felt incredible as he looked over every detail of his attire. He turned around just in time for Trista to finish her makeup. She was dressed in a breathtaking white gown that swept behind her and stood out from the green-grey shade of makeup on her skin. She wore white contacts that gave her an eerie zombie look.
"Let's go!" Arthur grinned. They headed off and were greeted at the door by Count Von Roo, himself.
He nodded silently at the two of them as they passed. Trista smiled brightly but Arthur was as stiff as a board with nervousness, being so close to the Count himself.
"He likes the costumes," she whispered gleefully.
As the night went on, Arthur gradually relaxed with Trista by his side and met many Neopians that travelled far and wide to attend the Spooky Soiree. He knew this would truly be a night to remember. The End,
