Grarrg and Sabre-X, both members of the Tyrannian Town Hall, were out
and about on the Tyrannian Plateau keeping an eye out on the land. Recently, there had been
rumours floating around of evil looking creatures slowly heading towards Tyrannia with plans
of major destruction. So the two were out there taking turns with the other Council of Elders
to see if the rumours were actually true. They had been out there a couple of days and nothing
had really turned up except for a few noisy Chombys breaking off a few slices of the giant omelette.
Sabre-X was beginning to think that all this talk of evil creatures was false, but Grarrg
insisted they keep watch...

...If you were to asked Sabre-X the whole thing was just a bunch of paranoid Gnarrls and Chombys
who wanted to create some action. Grarrg had strong suspicions about the Lair of the Beast so
Sabre-X just followed along. They sat perched on a tall rock and it was getting late so Sabre-X
decided to just lay back and relax when Grarrg jumped up, "What was that?" "Huh?" Replied Sabre-X
sleepily. "I saw something move over there" "O come on, Grargg relax. Sometimes things move.
It doesn't mean that there's an evil plot going on." "No. That area is supposed to be off limits.
It's dangerous. There could be rock slides or something. Let's go check it out." So Sabre-X
trudged along behind, yawning. When they got to the mouth of the cave they found it to be deserted.
"Well what ever it was its gone now." Said Sabre-X. But Grargg didn't listen."We better go inside
and look around." "Huh? Are you crazy? You've heard the ledgends! There's supposed to be a big
evil Neopet eating mmmmonster in there!" "You don't believe in all that stuff do you? Come on."
So they entered the cave. It smelled like moldy bones inside and it was pitch black. Grargg lit
a match. The walls were covered in undecipherable, ancient writing. Strange footprints in the
thin layer of dust on the floor went deeper and deeper into the cave. Suddenly the tunnel opened up
into a massive chamber. Sabre-X had to cover his mouth to keep from screaming. Before them was an

...concert hall containing well over 1000 screaming Tyrannians teenagers. Sabre-X had a dislike for
teenagers. Chomby and the Fungus Balls were rocking out hardcore and the lead singer, Paul Chomby,
was performing solot. "Holy trilo bite, he's my favourite singer!" Grarrg said, making a total fool
of himself as he rushed the stage. Sabre-X had long wandered off to explore the place, trying to get
as far away as possible from the kids as he could. He scoured the halls, fighting his way through the
pesky teenaged Chombys and Grarrls only to find Grarrg buying a Chomby and the Fungus Balls T-shirt.
"What are you doing? We're suppose to be on the look-out for evil creatures and you're wasting your
Neopoints on tour merchandise. What, are you planning to get their CD next?" Grarrg pulled the CD out
of his shopping bag and smiled. Sabre-X just shook his head. "What?" Grarrg asked. "Do you mind if we
get back to work?" "Fine, fine, fine. You never want to have any fun, Sabre." Sabre-X walked out of the
concert hall, while Grarrg was putting on his new T-shirt. "Hey, wait for me!!!" Sabre-X sighed. He
couldn't wait for the next group of town edlers to relieve them from duty...

...Sabre-X had only turned his head for a moment and Grarrg had quickly put on the brand-new Chomby and the Fungus
Balls cap and taken out his Mini-Battle Speaker and played his new CD. Sabre-X groaned. "Aren't you ashamed of yourself?"
he asked. Grarrg had started dancing around to his new CD. "A grown Neopet like you! Goodness! What's next, flying Moinks?!" As
they exited the concert hall Grarrg and Sabre-X caught a glimpse of what looked like a little pig in the sky. "Grarrg,
aren't you tired of all that merchandise yet?" Sabre-X turned his head. Grarrg had mysteriously vanished. Sabre-X
groaned. "Silly Neopet. Probably gone looking for more merchandise junk." Sabre-X retraced his steps to the concert
hall to look for Grarrg. Mysteriously, the once booming concert hall was now deserted. Sabre-X looked through the
doorway. Inside on the stage, a group of Neopets including the whole Chomby and the Fungus Balls band and Grarrg
were standing on stage. They all looked mysteriously green...

...Sabre-X gasped. "What happened to you?!" He rushed over to Grarrg and began shaking him. "Grarrg, Grarrg, can
you hear me?! Grarrg say something!" But Grarrg was frozen green. Sabre-X went to check out the members of the
Chomby and the Fungus Balls. They, too, were as still and lifeless as green statues. "What is going on here? This
is beginning to creep me out! I've got to tell the others!" So Sabre-X rushed back to the Council Hall as quickly
as possible. When he reached his destination, he found himself in the same mysterious circumstance. There was supposed
to be a town meeting today, but the place was deserted. He rushed into the Elders' dwelling and found Kyruggi, Tekeli-Li,
Plesio, and Myncha, the same, sickly green color as Grarrg and the Chombys had been draped in. A bone chilling wind rushed through
the halls of the place, and the next thing that Sabre-X heard was a blood curdling roar...

...Sabre-X, still shaken by the deafening roar, was temporarily paralysed and barely noticed the dark figure stealing
into the darkness. Before he could gather his wits, the figure had disappeared. Sabre-X had never heard such a
ferocious sound in all of his years and fear threatened to take over his mind and body. As Sabre-X looked around at
his town and the state of his fellow townsfolk, he knew that he had no time to waste on fear. Something had to be
done...now! Sabre-X rushed to Tekeli-Li who was a sickening shade of split pea soup. "Tekeli-Li, what has happened??"
"Sabre-X, I'm glad it's you. Help me to my lab. There isn't much time..."

...so Sabre-X and Tekeli-Li traveled to the lab. In the musty room Teke uncovered a stone slab from under a cloth.
He started to mix a slew of liquid potions, but first he got his ingredients. Mumbling to himself, Sabre could
only make out a few words, "Eye of Nimmo................Horn of Uni.............Hair lock.............." and went
on in a lower voice. Soon he got all the ingredients and started to grind them on the slab. Once he drained all the
liquid from the crushed rubble, Teke poured all this into a long test tube. Sabre watched this. This is strange, he
thought. Why could Teke move around freely when he was paralysed before? What was Teke mixing? All Sabre knew was
that the mixture was very green. Meanwhile, in the lab, a great puff of disturbed air raised a cloud of dust into
Teke's face. That gave all the answers Sabre needed. Teke was allergic to dust! Sabre then shouted "Hey, your not
Teke!" The Figure turned and answered, "Looks like you figured it out, but you took too long. Now you can't escape,
neither can your green friends. Hahahahahahahaha...

...Sabre turned around to run, but the green dust made him sleepy. He stumbled over bottles, and jars, and
tripped over bags of Neopoints. Sabre finally came to rest on a pile of Uni wings. Images were slipping in
and out of focus, but he could still see the fake Teke laughing at him, and could still hear the deafening
roar getting closer. Sabre asked " who are you, and - why are you turning people green?" The dark figure
answered, "Because I can, and because there's Neopoints involved. You see I earn a portion of the Neopoints
from the concert hall. Years ago, I made a deal with the monster in this cave. This deal allows me to turn
the Neopets green and paralysed, as you are now becoming." Sabre looked at himself. His feet had become
green and stiff, and the rest of his body was turning a light shade of green, getting greener by the second.
The figure continued, "I collect the Neopoints after they are paralysed, and earn a nice profit. Plus, the
monster pays me for every Neopet I get. And you, my friend, are my 1,000th customer," he chuckled. Sabre's
legs and arms had also become stiff, and the roar was getting louder, closer, and more blood curdling. "Of
course," the dark figure continued, "the pets regain full feeling when the monster starts to eat them alive.
He says the pain makes it more appetising. Oh, yes," he added mockingly, "In exchange for my services, the monster
grants me immortality. He should have already eaten your little friend. Gargle, wasn't it?" Sabre's mind was
getting fuzzy and sounds were getting dull, as if someone had turned down a speaker in his mind. It was getting
hard to breathe. The room was spinning. Sabre sputtered out, "You'll never get away with this." "Oh yes I will,"
answered the dark figure. "I've been getting away with it for 5,000 years. Soon, in fact, I shall move out of
this cave and unleash my greening powers on all of Neopia. I shall be rich, and the monster shall be full. I do
plan to keep a few mindless, Neopet zombies, like your friend, the real Teke around, so I can have someone to
build my empire. Why am I discussing these plans with you anyway, you're about to be eaten in a moment. Nighty
night. Scream nice and loud for me!" Sabre tried to answer, but his mouth wouldn't work. The monster was
almost there, so it would be over soon. Sabre gave one last thought about his family, and friends, and then
he blacked out...

...as if he were amidst in a dream, Sabre began to regain consciousness. His last will to stay alive
and help his friends and family had miraculously kept him alive. Struggling to breathe, Sabre gasped
for air, using part of his last bits of strength to rock on the floor in an attempt to get up. It
was of no use. Sabre's body had already thickened into a tough green shell. Letting out a desperate
sigh, his eyes begin to close... No... must keep eyes open! Must survive! Must help others! he
thought, eyes straining to stay open, focus blurring and mind reeling. The pressure on Sabre's eyelids
suddenly began to decrease in weight, and a bright florescent light began to stream through the room. "Oh
goodness, I hope I'm not too late!" chirped the brightened figure. "I'm the Light Faerie, and I have been
summoned by the Faerie Queen because she knows you are pure of heart. Though I can't remove the green layer
on your body, I can help you get moving again." With a puff of light blue smoke, Sabre was lifted into the
air, the bed of Uni wing feathers that he had landed upon had magically transformed into a pair of iridescent,
yet temporary faerie wings perfectly suited for Sabre, himself. In another puff of blue smoke, and the
slight zap from the Light Faerie's wand, Sabre was once again able to move his arms, legs and mouth, though
the green shell still restricted him somewhat. "Now go. Help the others... but hurry, you haven't much time,"
the Light Faerie said with an airy gasp, "You now have the wings of the Uni, and the majority of my faerie
magic to aide you in your quest to help the others. My magic has been drained..." and with that final breath,
the Light Faerie collapsed upon a patch of Jubjub moss, only to rejuvenate gradually as her powers were
released from Sabre's new wings as time were to progress. Meanwhile, after profusely thanking the Light
Faerie, Sabre continued on his journey. The entire cavern was seemingly deserted, but the faint, and soon
to be deafening roar still hung like a curtain in the musty air. I must be getting close to that monster...
Sabre thought to himself as he fluttered silently down the mildewy corridor, ...the roar is getting louder,
and the foul stench is getting stronger... and what's this? A green trail? Sabre's mind was clouded with
events as the air began to turn thicker, like pea soup, and more pungent like a rotten egg. Loud noises and
senseless chatter had also become more evident. Sabre realised he was now floating into...

...the Lair of the Beast. Sabre flew as high as he could and floated along the ceiling of the cave. The
noises were getting louder and louder and the stench was getting unbearably strong. Suddenly the already
expansive cave opened into an enormous chamber. Sabre stayed just inside the cave and tried to see what
the cavern contained. He could see piles of treasures as high as the monolith everywhere. There were
piles of Neopoints and rare items. The Snowager's horde had nothing on this stash. On the far end of
the cavern, Sabre could barely make out a figure and the roar seemed to be coming from that direction.
Sabre slipped behind a pile of faerie wands and peeked around the edge. He floated quietly to a pile of
Neopox Pizza. As Sabre made his way closer to the figure he began to see bones and bits of clothing on
the floor of the cavern. A chill ran down is spine and Sabre had to summon every bit of courage he had
to continue. The roar was almost deafening at this point and in the background Sabre could hear the
screams and pleas of helpless pets being eaten. Sabre floated to the top of a pile of battle items and
peered down into the thick, green fog. The figure was clear as could be and Sabre stiffened with fear.
It couldn't be...but it was. The beast was horrific! It was...

...A LAVAGER. Just like the Snowager, only larger, bigger, and 20xs more teeth, the Lavager slept
and coiled itself around a pile of helpless Neopets. Sabre realised that he must have drifted
straight through the Lair of the Beast, and into the volcano. As he stood, frozen with fear, he
could only notice the large pile of Neopox Pizza more and more clearly. There were hundreds upon
hundreds of them, surrounded with Neopoints and rare items. The Lavager had been stealing it all,
causing the mass shortage of Neopox Pizza in Neopia and the inflation of the medicine. The Lavager
had no captured all these helpless Neopets that had wandered into his cave in search of the pizza.
Suddenly, Sabre knew what he must do. He needed to save all the captured Neopets. All he needed was -
Ah-ha! And there it was, right at his feet, only inches away from the pile of Neopox Pizza. He picked
up the...

...Ancient Lupe Wand and a Wet Snowball Wand from under the pile of battle items. He used the
Snowball wand to launch a barrage of wet snowballs onto the Lavager. When each of them hit
they made a loud hissing noise. This enraged that Lavager and it lunged toward Sabre. Sabre
had lost sight of his fear and relied on instincts to keep himself alive. Sabre used the
Ancient Lupe Wand to cast a spell that only he knew. After he had chanted the appropriate
words a large dome of energy surrounded him. Just as the Lavager was right in front of the
barrier, a beam of light and energy was blasted throught the length of the Lavager splitting
it in two. With his foe defeated the green layer restricting his movements vanished and he was
able to move freely once again. Sabre ran to the now free Neopets to guide them out of the cave. There
were more than he thought. About 100,000 Neopets in all were in the circle. When they got out of
the cave, all the elders of Tyrannia gathered in a circle to discuss what just happened. They
concluded that this cave was to be sealed off and the contents to be distributed among the
inhabitants of Neopia. Sabre-X got an award for saving the Neopians. Now all they had to worry
about were the massive amounts of dark figures near the borders of Tyrannia.
