The Island Mystic exclaimed, "Bestow the Cooking Pot three items. First, bring a plethora of autumn leaves next to a rake. Secondly, I'm not partial to this myself, but you might enjoy this warm drink around this time of festivities. Finally, you have a sudden urge to groom your feathers."
The mystical Kyrii then wrote and bestowed a parchment to the gelatinous Eyrie, "In case you forget, I've scribbled the message on here lest you need a refresher. That's it for today! Good luck for the safety of Brightvale."
Kendra graciously accepted, "Thank you, I'll be back as soon as I can!"
Bouncing merrily before taking off, Kendra pondered in regards to the first item.
***
"Hmm, this one seems simple enough, a pile of leaves perhaps...? I'm sure gardening would have something related."
Flying across over to Neopia Central again, landing wasn't the smoothest. Having a bit of jelly physics work to her disadvantage, Kendra sprang higher once her paws stomped onto the ground, causing her to fly back up into the air.
"Whooaa!!"
Kendra flapped her wings as best as she could to regain control, only to proceed more cautiously with her newfound color.
"That was some amazing bouncing there, miss!" A cheery Blumaroo glanced from the sidelines.
The flustered Eyrie replied, "Oh, why thank you-- wait, you run the Garden Centre, correct?"
"That I do! Anything you're looking for today?"
"Do you happen to have anything 'autumn leaves' related?"
The Blumaroo beamed, "That we do! We have a couple of Pile of Autumn Leaves in stock right now."
Kendra, hoping it's the right item, replied "I'll take it!" as she proceeded to offer the correct amount.
"Thank you for your patronage, and hope to see you bounce back soon."
Not wanting to be rude about the situation, Kendra nodded and carefully flew near the shops, looking at the next item on her list.
***
She pondered, "The Island Mystic doesn't like this it seems. Not sure what he would dislike specifically but I know I could go for some cider myself-- oh, Hot Apple Cider! Though, they don't sell that here in the main shops..."
Kendra browsed the marketplace, hoping to see someone selling the item. Just at that moment, a green Kyrii stood by his stall, looking rather disgusted of all these apple products.
The Kyrii sighed of relief, "Oh thank goodness, a customer. I can't stand the smell of these apple products anymore."
"Why do you have so many apple products if you don't like them?" Kendra questioned.
"My friends think it's funny to send cheap apple products to me, well jokes on them!" the Kyrii sneered. "Anyways, what do you want?"
"Do you happen to have any Hot Apple Cider?"
"Plenty. Take a few apples too half off. You don't want yourself to go hungry in your current wobbly state."
Kendra gave a wry smile, "You have a point. Thank you!" And she flew off looking for the last item.
***
Perplexed by the last hint, "You have a sudden urge to groom your feathers... is this another useless phrase?" Regardless, the grooming supplies would be her best bet.
The fashionable Usul greeted the young Eyrie, "Welcome darling, is there anything you need today?"
"I think so, but my list didn't give me a solid idea on what I should look for."
The Usul's expression was just as perplexed, "I'm not sure without a concrete answer but I must say, your feathers are looking quite stunning, what did you use?"
Kendra replied, "Oh, I applied some Eyrie Feather Spray this morning and--" a spark of epiphany lighted from Kendra's head.
The Usul smiled radiantly from the realization, "Say no more, I'll go get you one." Kendra felt relieved that she didn't have to sacrifice her own feather spray.
"Here you are, never hurts to have a spare, right?"
"O-of course, Thank you so much!"
With all items in hand supposedly, Kendra rushed back to Mystery Island to consult the Mystic again.
***
"I'm back..." Kendra heaved heavily from the urgency.
The Island Mystic raised his head, "Welcome back, did you bring the items?"
"Hopefully, to the Cooking Pot?"
"Indeed, right this way."
The two traveled towards Jhuidah and the Cooking Pot, where she greeted them accordingly, "You've brought the ingredients?"
"I think so... here you go." Kendra handed over the items.
"Thank you, we shall see if this combination works."
The Cooking Pot boiled while being stirred, and it didn't take too long before it lit up from the cauldron itself.
And then...
...
...Nothing happens?
"Hmm, the items vanished, did it actually work..." the Island Faerie looked confused about the situation. "I've not seen this happen since those orange related items."
Deflated at the situation, Kendra sighed, "Maybe I should check on Brightvale if there's nothing we can do."
Both the Island Mystic and Jhuidah nodded their heads.
"Thank you both and Mumbo Pango of course. I will return home soon!"
***
Kendra soared through the skies, dreading what has become of Brightvale even more so.
"I guess it isn't so bad, but I'll miss the feeling of Fall in Brightvale again..."
When she arrived, her jaw dropped.
A warm color of reds and browns radiated the land of Brightvale. The leaves bundled in bunches while scattered ones fluttered in the wind. The scent of apples wafted in the air. There was not one iota of jelly in sight.
"I can't believe it, it actually did work-- huh?" When Kendra took another step, she felt a lot heavier than before.
"I'm... I'm back to my original self too...!"
Without a second thought, Kendra plowed herself into the nearest pile of autumn leaves. She ruffled her feathers in contentment as she crunched every leaf she found on the ground.
The first day of Fall in Brightvale has finally begun.
The End.
