We start a story and you have to write the next few paragraphs. We will select the best submissions every day and put it on the site, and then you have to write the next one, all the way until the story finishes. Got it? Well, submit your paragraphs below!

Story Twenty Six - Ended May 25th

Snildred lived in a dark and shadowy tower on the outskirts of the Haunted Woods. Her friends never wanted to visit her because it was too scary to walk up the winding staircase to her room. Well, that's what she kept telling herself. Snildred really didn't have any friends because she was different. She had magical powers and many Neopians were afraid of that. All she ever wanted to do was to prove to them that she was normal, but her powers always seemed to get in the way... Author :Neopets Staff

...she tipped her hat back as she walked up the stairs of the tower. She was a Halloween painted Peophin, so she kept telling herself that was why people were afraid--she looked like a witch! It was after school and her owner wasn't home yet. "Why don't they like me, Magic?" she asked her pet Whoot. She sat down on her bed and sighed. "I think, I think, it's my colour. I AM normal, just special because of my powers. Someone else must be like me, right?" She sat on her bed, thinking. She didn't know anyone with magic except for... "Faeries! Faeries have magic, don't they? No one's afraid of faeries! Now...how can I be like them?" She collected her thoughts. "Faeries, magic, colour...That's it! I'll magic myself a Faerie Paint Brush, then teleport to the Rainbow Pool! Maybe I could turn you into a Faerie pet, Magic..." Snildred stopped. What about her owner? She didn't like Snildred using her magic for selfish stuff... "Well...she's not home, so I can say I found it, and decided to try it out...ya! That'll work! Now for the magic." She got off her bed, and stood on the floor. She thought: "Faerie Paint Brush...Faerie Paint Brush..." and was about to tap her hooves together when she tripped on Magic. Her hooves hit the floor and clouds of purple smoke filled the room. "Cripes! That wasn't supposed to happen!"... Author :spirit_dragon166

...as the purple smoke began to surround her, Snildred saw less and less of the room she had been in. She looked frantically for Magic. "Magic..." She coughed several times. "Magic!" Magic suddenly appeared and jumped into her arms. "There you are.... Now, how do we get rid of this purple smoke?" Snildred held Magic tightly, and with her free arm waved the smoke away from her face. As the smoke disappeared, she noticed the room looked a bit different... very different, in fact. It was so different, she realised that she wasn't even in the room, or in the tower, or anywhere near it. "Uh Oh.... Where are we, Magic?"... Author :slicon

...just then, the lights went out. "Hello dearie," a cracked, dry voice said in her left ear. "AAA!" Snildred jumped up, almost dropping Magic. "I've been waiting for you," the voice said again. "Wh-who are you?" Snildred whispered, terrified, "How did you know I was coming?" "No one knows about me, but I know about everyone. I am the helper of poor, lonely pets. I am here to help them find love and acceptance," the voice told her. Snildred faintly saw a shadowy shape move in the darkness around her. She took a deep, steadying breath. "This... person must be nice. She said she would help me. But where AM I?" she thought to herself, then asked the voice, "Did you say you could help me?" "Why of course, dearie," the voice cackled, "That's why I brought you here." "You... brought me?" Snildred asked, "But I though that I-" "Oh, I just waited until you began to try to teleport. Then I just altered your destination to my lovely little home," the voice explained. "Oh," Snildred said, "So, what can you do to help me? And why can't I see you?" The voice paused a moment before it answered, "Well, you see, my shape sometimes frightens pets a bit, so I usually don't let them see me until they get to know me a bit better. Otherwise they run away without giving me a chance to help them." "Oh, I see," Snildred said, "Now about helping me..." "Oh yes!" the voice said excitedly, "Now all you have to do is repeat after me: I, Snildred, do promise to follow all the directions my helper gives me." "O...K," Snildred faltered. "But my owner always said, 'Never trust strangers.' But the voice said she would help me. And I REALLY want the other pets to accept me," she thought. Then she said in a clear voice, "I, Snildred, do promise to follow all the directions my helper gives me." A high, joyous cackled pierced her ears, then she heard the voice again, but across the room, "And now, my dear, you shall see my true form!" Suddenly, the lights went on again. ..."Holy Kau, what happened to you?!" yelled Snildred as she jumped back. "Well, unfortunately, about a week ago my owner fed me a mutant Moehog potion and abandoned me by the side of the road... She also fed one of her other pets, a Kiko, a mutant potion too... He transformed himself back though. I wasn't able to," whispered the mutant Moehog, with a tear in her eye. "Oh, I'm so sorry... Um, who are you, by the way?" questioned Snildred tentatively. "I am nameless. Nobody. Just call me that. Noh-body. Like Homer from The Odyssey." Snildred looked at the Moehog queerly. Noh-body? Homer? The Odyssey? What is she talking about? "Yeah, okay, Noh-body," Snildred said with a small smile on her face, "Um, how exactly can you help me? Not to sound rude or anything, but my situation is pretty hopeless right now. I mean, I live the Haunted Woods, you've heard of it? So yeah, I live there, in a tower, all alone. Everybody's scared of me there, which is ironic, because I live in the Haunted Wo..." "Ah, a talkative one aren't you? There is no need to explain these things. I know your past, I know how you suffered. I know everything..." Snildred looked at Noh-body again. She's a little scary, isn't she? "...and I have a plan for you. I am going to teach you how to utilize your powers correctly, which will help you make friends. But you've got to remember, you have to follow every single instruction I give you, no matter how scary it seems. Don't worry. I know what's best for you. Trust me." Snildred nodded with a little whimper. Snildred was frightened, but she was willing to sacrifice anything, for a friend. Noh-body smiled. "Okay then, I guess we should begin our first lesson then? ...Noh-body grabbed Snildred's hoof and lead her towards an opening in the room they were in. "Umm," Snildred said, looking down at her half-visible hand. "Can you let go? You're getting my hoof a little slimy." "Oh sure," Noh-body let go of Snildred's hand. "Now, cover your eyes, the first burst of light could blind you if you look." Snildred obediently covered her eyes with her hooves, and reluctantly let Noh-body lead her again. Snildred walked a few more steps when she saw a giant flash of white light, after a few more steps Noh-body told her that she could uncover her eyes. They were outside, or at least Snildred thought they were. There were small balls of light flying in every which way. "Snildred, the first thing we must understand is exactly how you control your magic," Noh-body said. "Please demonstrate how you use your magic for me." "Okay..." Snildred wasn't sure how this was going to help, she knew how to use her magic. "I just think of something that I really want, then I tap my hooves together and..." POOF! A Happiness Negg appeared in front of Snildred. "I thought that you might want this, it'll cheer ya up!" Snildred gave the Happiness Negg to Noh-body, smiling. "Thank you very much, Snildred," Noh-body said, politely. "Now, the next thing you have to do is try and use your magic to stop one of the light balls, that's why I've brought you here." Snildred had never tried to do anything but conjure things and teleport before, she wasn't sure if it would work. "I-I don't know, Noh-body," Snildred said. "It seems dangerous, I've never done anything like this before!" "You'll be fine!" Noh-body said. "Here ya go! Concentrate!" Noh-body gave Snildred a big, slimy push. Snildred went right into the path of a HUGE light ball! "Oh no! I'm going to get hurt very bad!" Snildred thought. But then something her mother had told her once came back to her, she thought, Concentrate, Snil! You can beat this thing! Send it flyin'!" A sly smile spread across her face. "Concentrate! You can do it, Snildred!" Noh-body cried. "HHHHHHHIIIIIIIIYYYYYYAAAAAA!!!!!!!" Snildred cried. She put her hoofs out in front of her and caught the giant light ball. Snildred concentrated as hard as she could. "Astalavista, baby." Snildred's hooves were surrounded by a blue glow and the ball was also encircled by blue. "Let 'er rip, Snildred!!!" Noh-body said. Snildred concentrated hard and used to magic to push away the light ball, sending it back to where it came from. "Good job, Snildred!" Noh-body whooped. "Now onto the next task..." Oh no! Not another one! Snildred thought. She was exhausted and wanted to go home, and her hooves were still hot from the ball of light. Snildred and Noh-body walked off... Author :princessozma

...as they walked the balls of light dissapeared one by one and were replaced by tall, dark towering statues of mutant pets. It was hard for Snildred to see as the statues got closer and closer together. The statues seemed to be watching her but Snildred knew this was impossible. She was getting very creeped out and asked Noh-body, "Ummm... were are we going?" The mutant answered. "Oh, this spot will do just fine." As soon as she finished, Snildred heard a loud crunching sound behind her. She whirled around to see that a statue of a giant mutant Lupe was shedding its stone and had become real. "You will fight the creature with your powers and beat it!" Noh-body screamed. So, although she was terribly frightened, she stepped forward and successfully conjured a stone snowball. She flung it at the mutant with all her might and it screamed in agony. Snildred's confidence went up and she summoned more and more things in which she used in combat against the creature. Snildred raised a fire jug and released it on the mutant. The Lupe gave one last howl and returned to its stone casing. Noh-body cackled. "Very good. Now let me introduce you to your new comrades." With that every single statue cracked open and a giant mutant stepped out. They bowed low to Noh-body. "This is my mutant army. I am going to use them to get revenge on Neopia for what it did to me and for what it did to all mutants! Your magical powers will greatly assist them." Snildred was very frightened. She had a feeling that Noh-body wasn't really in the business of helping lonely little neopets. "But why did you call them my comrades? I can't be in your army. I'm not a mutant." ..."No way, Don't you even think for one minute that you are going to turn me into a mutant," Snildred cried. "We'll just see what I am and am not going to do!" Noh-body cackled. "You said you would help me!" Snildred shouted, "Not turn me into a-a mutant!" Snildred began to bawl. She covered her face with her hooves. Then she thought to herself, only a coward would act like this... I've got powers, I can get myself out of this situation. Well, Noh-body must of been able to read minds because as soon as Snildred was done thinking to herself, Noh-body raised its arms above its head, closed its eyes, and muttered a few magic words and then "poof"... ...Snildred couldn't move, she could barely even think. Noh-body screeched and cackled as it conjured up a jar, containing smoking liquid, out of nowhere. "Now don't move," said Noh-body, cackling with glee as she approached Snildred holding the foul smelling potion. Snildred forced a cry out of her still lips. Just as Noh-body was about to drench her with the stinking potion Snildred heard something coming from above, it was Magic! She had completely forgotten about her tiny pet Whoot. He swooped down upon Noh-body and knocked over the potion. The liquid poured out of the bottle onto the already mutant Moehog. "Aaaaaaagghhh!!" cried Noh-body as she fell, crumpled to the ground. Her army of mutants turned their bulging eyes towards Snildred who was recovering quickly from Noh-body's spell. She clutched Magic and began to step back... Use your powers, she thought and was about to when she noticed many other Neopets trapped in cages... Author :magthemog

...now Snildred had two choices. Either use her magical powers and just save herself, or take chances and save all the other Neopets and prove to herself that she wasn't so bad-just that her powers needed to be fine-tuned. After thinking about it for a few minutes, she decided to go with the second option. "Help, please!" shouted the other Neopets. "I'm coming!!" Snildred shouted, running to them while using her magic powers to keep away the mutants, but also to break open the metal bars that were keeping the other pets from breaking out of their cages. Snildred used her powers to succeed in breaking the bars as if they were toothpicks. The other Neopets ran to another side of the place they were all in, while Snildred used her magic powers to force the mutants away. She ran back to the other Neopets and... Author :bluejoy2000

...said, "Let's get out of here!" Then Snildred had an idea. "Everybody touch me! Even a paw will do". So everybody touched her, some of the younger ones hugging onto her hooves. She stamped the ground, thinking as hard as she could about her room, Magic sitting on her bed, and the tower she lived in. There was tons of purple smoke, and then as she waved it away, there she was in her room! "YES!!" All of the other Neopets let go of her and looked at Snildred very frightened. One of them said, "Great. Don't you know where you took us!?! This is the place where that evil pet lives!!" "Oh," Snildred said in a small voice, "I live here. Everyone is afraid of me and I don't know why!" Another pet piped in, "WE will be your friends! All of us, right!?" All of the other ones agreed. "You just saved our lives!" a Shoyru chimed in. Just then, her owner walked in and said, "Snildred! Who are these Neopets and where were you all of this time?!" Snildred replied, "Oh, just out making some new friends, just making new friends... ..."Well it's past your bedtime Snildred, I think your new friends should go home," her owner remarked, leaving. Sighing, she told close their eyes, very tight. "Now, imagine you are sitting in your Neohome, reading, playing, whatever...." She waits a bit... "Everyone ready?" Seeing them nod their heads, she waves a free hoof, purple smoke swallowing them up. As soon as it clears, they were gone, safe in their NeoHomes, back to their owners. Sighing heavily, Snildred plopped down onto her bed, petting Magic. "Well that was one heck of a day..."
