Story Twenty - Ended April 13th
After the cave was sealed off and he donated most of his reward to the Money
Tree, Sabre-X was informed about the evil Grarrl Gang that was gathering on the western part of the
Tyrannian Plateau by Myncha and the other Council of Elders. Sabre-X scratched his chin and said, "You know,
it's going to take more than the six of us to win this war. We need to put the word out. We must defend Tyrannia!"
Kyruggi, the grand elder, liked Sabre's enthusiasm; especially after all he had been through the week before
with that Lavager and all. "Sabre is right. There's no other choice...we need to start taking applications
for the Tyrannian Army..."

...Getting all of the Neopians together was a bit difficult. But, the Council of Elders finally succeeded
in calling a meeting. "We have had reports that a gang of evil monsters are going to attack Tyrannia! All
of us must band together to defend our home, be we Chia, Scorchio, Lupe, or even *cough* Uni!" Kyruggi said
to the crowd. The pets blinked, all with blank expressions. "...I meant that every Neopian should help out
in times of need no matter of what race we are!" Every pet in the room started to nod. "We will begin today
to take applications for the Tyrannian Army! Who's with me?" With a roar, crowds of pets raced to sign up,
both young and old.
Three hours later...
Grarrg had begun to tire of the hundreds of applicants. Many of them did not even know how to fight!
Whispering hastily in the ear of Kyruggi, he nodded sagely. "Listen up! As of tomorrow, we are beginning
a training camp to help us win this war! This is for ALL pets, so please come, bright and early! And remember,
Tyrannia must be saved!" Seeing her irritable disposition, for she also had been annoyed at the inexperience
of the pets although joyful of their loyalty, the crowds dispersed to get a good night's sleep. All were looking
forward to a harsh day of training the following day...

...By now, word of the Tyrannian blight had spread throughout the whole of Neopia, reaching even to the
remote Mystery Island. Shrouded by uncertainty, obscure rumours trickled through the island's vines until
finally they reached the heart of the savage jungle, the home of Grand Master Techo. Listening to story
after story, the Grand Master heard of a sizeable army of Neopians being gathered in Tyrannia to defend
the great nation, yet it could hardly be called a motley bunch than a grand army from the way things
sounded. "He who steps foot into battle to boldly," the Grand Master reflected solemnly, "will soon discover
that it is not he who has hold of the ground, but rather it is the ground who has hold of him. And, at the
same time, he who is not experienced in the ways of self-defense will also be destined to a similar fate."
The Grand Master truly wanted to aid his brave Neopian friends with his vast wisdom and patient guidance in
the ways of martial arts, but he first had to be certain of the rumours he was hearing, he had to go and speak
with his good friend the Island Mystic...

...Now, the Island Mystic has always been just that--mystical, strange and mysterious. But the Grand Master
knew that if anyone could help him, it would be the Island Mystic, in all his wisdom. The Grand Master went
to the Island Mystic immediatly. The Island Mystic greeted the Grand Mater with a furrowed brow. Seeing his
grave manner, the Grand Master asked, "It is true, then, that these poor pets, stout of heart though they are,
are preparing to rush into such a dire fate?" "They who run too fast will turn the wind against themselves,"
replied the Mystic. "Alas, I too have heard the rumors, and though my heart hangs heavy I know them to be true.
There must be a way to help these pets. They are holding a training session soon, for Grarrg knows they stand
little chance and would have them prepared." The Grand Master shook his head. "It will not be enough, I fear.
Not unless there is a way-" The Grand Master stopped suddenly, struck by such an idea, he could only wonder if
prehaps the fates smiled on him that day. Oh, but if only it could work! The Grand Master, in his wisdom, did
nothing at first but hold the idea in his head, to see if it would break like a bubble upon the harsh thorns of
reality, of if it truly was the Neopet's only chance. The Island Mystic observed the Master's deep and
pondering expression, and wisely remained silent. "Thank you, Island Mystic," the Grand Master said softly after
a while, eyes shining, "But now, I think, is the time for action especially if Tyrannia and the heedless army is
to survive..."

...The Grand Master returned to the school to pack a few essential items before he made the journey to the far
land of Tyrannia. He gathered his things quickly and was soon on the boat. The boat sailed swiftly and before
he knew it the Grand Master was approaching Terror Mountain. The Grand Master was not alone in his journey.
He was pleased to see several of his former students going to Tyrannia as well. The Grand Master made his way
through the tunnel that led to Tyrannia and found himself in a jungle. He liked this place already....It was not
so different from home. The Grand Master made his way to the plateau and was greeted by the Council of Elders.
The Grand Master greeted each of them and his eyes fell upon a fierce looking animal who introduced himself as
Sabre-X. The Grand Master had heard of him and his recent adventures. The elders showed Grand Master the tent
where they had set up army headquarters and the long list of new recruits. The Grand Master read the list and
knew he had his work cut out for him but he also saw many familiar names and with those names his plans began to
take shape...

...The Grand Master sat absorbed in the conundrum before him, occasionally hmm-ing and ahh-ing as he read and
re-read the hundreds of applications. He worked late into the darkness that first evening, and by morning he
had devised a scheme brilliant enough to help even the most extreme cases. Heart full of hope, the Grand Master
began his day bright and early. The Council Elder's had been kind enough to give him a map of the space he could
use, and before the sun had really risen the next day, he was out and about setting up Boot Camp. Locating the
big field of grass that was indicated on his map, The Grand Master began meditating in the middle. Levating a
few feet above the ground, he began to hear great "Ooohhhs" an "Ahhhhhhs." He opened his eyes to see the many
Neopets gathered around him. What he saw almost made him fall from his pose 10 feet in the air. The group around
his was the most dangly, unfit Neopians he had ever seen. He knew today would be work. Sighing deeply, he landed
and spoke to the audience. "Welcome to Boot Camp. I am here to help you increase your inner harmony, so you can
decrease your outer shabbiness. This way of training may not be for everyone. It takes a strong mental balance
to encompass the ideas behind the art of martial arts." Staring sternly at the hundreds of Neopians, every idea
seemed to vanish from his brain. Suddenly, a little pinkish Kacheek slipped, sending a domino effect throughout
the entire first 5 rows. "Here we go..." said the Grand Master passively. "Okay, if you could please form one line.
First we are going to meditate..."

...While the chubby little Neopets meditated or tried to, Grand Master thought to himself, "How am I ever
going to get these fat, inexperienced Neopets turned into strong, tough, army pets?" Grand Master shook
the thought out of his head. He looked up, unaware of what was happening. The pets were laying all on top
of each other. "All right, let's start over, you bunch of lazy things! A clear mind is the first step to
winning this battle!" Grand Master shouted angrily. "Now do what I do!" Grand Master started to meditate,
his legs perfectly crossed, not hurting a bit. "My legs hurt, why do we have to do this?" A young Usul
cried out. "How dare you interrupt our meditation lesson! Please, Sabre-X, would you take this Usul that
so RUDELY interrupted me?" the Grand Master said his patience lowering. Sabre-X grabbed the Usul, and took
her away. "Now, let us continue," said the Grand Master. While the pets and the Grand Master meditated, Sabre-X
lectured the Usul. "I think you should know not to interrupt the Grand Master like that! You should respect your
elders, young lady! If you ever expect to be in the Army, you must meditate, even if you legs hurt. Now, do you
think you can go back there and meditate like the rest of the lazy pets? The Usul nodded solemly. "Come now."
When Sabre-X brought the Usul back to the lesson, the Grand Master was no longer meditating. Instead, he was
teaching the pets how to break wood with a mere flick of the finger. The pets "ooooed" and "ahhhhed" as the
Grand Master used his little finger to crack a board in half. "Now, young ones, pay close attention. It will
take a lot of experience to crack wood like that, but for now, we shall crack wood with our hands." He held out a
small board toward a slim Meerca. The Meerca, who's name was Daisy, cracked the board easily. The Grand Master
looked very surprised. "What is your name, Meerca?" "My name is Daisy," she said shyly. "Please, don't be shy. Be
confident, and you will go far." He held out another board. The Grand Master asked her to crack it with just her
finger. The pets and even the Grand Master looked very amazed as Daisy easily cracked the board with her tiniest
finger. "This is amazing!" The Grand Master gasped. "This Meerca, Daisy, is very special! She is to be promoted
to first captain at once. We don't have much time, let's get back to work." Just then, over the Tyrannian Plateau,
a darkness was slowly creeping toward the camp...

...Meanwhile, deep within the volcano, Kyruggi and Tekeli-Li sat near a glowing fire. "How are the recruits
doing?" Kyruggi sighed deeply. "It is give and take. We have a few with real potential. It's the others that
I am worried about." Tekeli-Li nodded, understanding. "You must go now, Kyruggi. I have much to do with very
little time." Kyruggi obliged, the sounds of soft chanting followed him out of the volcano. The training camp
was visible from where Kyruggi stood. It appeared the recruits had been divided into several small groups. The
Grand Master paced between the groups, shaking his head disapprovingly. "This is not a game. Neopoints and magical
prizes will not be given out at the end. This may very well be the battle of your life and you sorry excuses for
warriors can barely walk without tripping over each other. Shape up! Concentrate! If you follow my lead, and the
lead of those in charge we can transform into the most powerful army that Neopia has ever seen." Obviously
intimidated, the recruits could do nothing but obey. The Grand Master worked the out of shape little Neopets
until well past sunset. Tyrannia was bathed in complete darkness when everyone was finally allowed to go home.
The Grand Master made his way to the volcano where he was to meet with Tekeli-Li. The walls of the volcano glowed
a golden red, mostly due to the large fire Tekeli-Li was seated beside. He chanted, eyes closed. The Grand Master
quietly cleared his throat to make his presence known. Tekeli-Li softly said a few more words then turned to face
the exhausted Grand Master. "I have been praying to the Warriors before us. I asked them for strength and for
patience for our Elders and for you." The Grand Master nodded slightly. "Do you think your prayers will be answered?"
Tekeli-Li smiled slightly. "We can certainly hope so." Sabre-X stood outside the war tent along side Grarrg. "I can
smell it," Sabre-X growled. "What?" Grarrg asked, sniffing the air. "The danger is coming..." Grarrg's body tensed
up. Again, he deeply breathed the air around him. "Will we be ready?" Grarrg asked aloud but received no response...

...Near western Tyrannian, the Chief of the evil Grarrl Gang spoke to his soldiers. "The Council of Elders
in Tyrannian are feebly attempting to gather an army. We will attack tomorrow. By that time they should have
enough confidence to fight, but won't be the best fighters. Besides, we are pets of the darkest of honour--We
attack when the enemy is defenceless!" The Chief snickered and walked to the commander of this platoon. The
commander was a very muscular Grarrl. "Work them. We must be ready." The Chief briskly walked away to visit
other platoons. The commander paced back and forth in front of the lines. He shouted, "You heard the Chief!
Give me 2,001 jumping jacks. NOW!" This Commander was considered the toughest in the army. He worked his
soldiers all through the day. When he was satisfied by the soldiers work, the sun was setting behind the volcano.
"Well will attack NOW..."

...The Grand Master shook with nervousness, and so did the others. "It's now or never," the Grand Master told
himself. "Inform the troops to get ready as fast as they can." And with that he ran up to the Tyrannian Plateau.
Indeed, Sabre-X was right. There marched the Grarrl Gang with evil smirks on their faces. The Grand Master began
to shake with fear again as he stared at the gang. There must have been 700 Grarrls all lined up! Of course their
army was of more then 1,000 but was made up of the most pathetic soldiers he had ever seen. They could never win
the war! He then thought of Daisy the Meerca and his words to her. "Be confident, and you will go far." He repeated
these words in his head over and over again. Suddenly, shouts were heard from below. The Grand Master peered over the
edge to see Grarrg shouting to him, "The army is ready!" The Grand Master must have had the look of doubt on his face,
but repeated, "Be confident, and you will go far" to himself over and over again. He climbed down the plateau slowly
noticing that Grarrg's face was a deep red. Once the Grand Master set his two feet on the ground he overlooked the
large army with a smile and a look of confidence on his face. "Be confident, and you'll go far," he said, this time
out loud. Every Neopian heard him and said it to himself one time as well, also smiling with confidence. "CHARGE!!"
the Grand Master roared. His look of confidence turned into a look of horror and disbelief as he watched his army do the
stupidest, yet most impressive, thing they could have ever done...

...The Grand Master stood there watching his army fight the Grarrl Gang. They were winning in number but the Grarrl
Gang was too strong. As he watched the brave pets fight with Daisy in command, he tried to think of something he
never thought of before. And that was why the Grarrl Gang was trying to take over Tyrannia. Soon he came to a
conclusion that the Grarrl Gang wanted Tyrannia because there were many new things to be found in Tyrannia, which
could not be found else were. By this time, the Grarrl Gang had already taken over the Tyrammet Village at the
southern end of Tyrannia. Kyruggi was very worried, as she had lost a fairly large piece of a rule to the Grarrl
Gang. Just then Tekeli-Li came in with a bottle in his hand. "I found a spell in my room last night. It is supposed
to strengthen pets and give them more abilities. However it may be risky as no one has ever tried this before."
The Grand Master looked at Tekeli-Li and said, "We'll have to take this chance, as I said before, It's now or never..."

...the Grand Master silently took the bottle from Tekeli-Li. "I hope this works..." he whispered. He slowly
opened the bottle. Once he had it fully open, a whirl of colours flew out, causing him to drop the bottle.
The whirlwind of colours parted and flew in all directions, North, South, East and West. The troops were
surrounded by the colors. The words of the Grand Master echoed in their heads... "Be confident and you'll go
far…" It sprung a new hope in them. The colours disappeared leaving the army very confident and ultra strong.
The army then charged with Daisy in the lead. They ran at the Grarrl Gang, fear in their mind but hope in their
hearts. They attacked with all their might and with a very large Dung Catapult, and soon the Grarrl Gang ran away
with their tails between their legs. Once the Grarrl Gang was gone, the Tyrannian Army looked to the Grand Master, who
was in the middle of meditating. They began to cheer, which broke his concentration. "Huh? The battle is over? Where
is the Grarrl Gang?" Everyone continued to cheer. "Did I miss something?" the Grand Master asked. Kyruggi put
his arm around him and said, "Yes, I'm afraid you did. It sure was a sight to see..."
