We start a story and you have to write the next few paragraphs. We will select the best submissions every day and put it on the site, and then you have to write the next one, all the way until the story finishes. Got it? Well, submit your paragraphs below!

Story Three - Ended December 8th, 2000

Grundy the Grundo was having the most perfect day so far. He had passed all his courses at the Island Training School without a problem, and tonight he was going to have a huge party with all of his friends in celebration of his first fight in the Battledome! ...a little Peophin popped out of the water and said to him, "Help me Grundo! My people are in great danger. We need help!" said the Peophin in a squeaky voice. Grundy didn't know what to do, a rare Peophin had just asked for his help. Even though he had passed the courses, he still lacked the trainer's wisdom. But still, this Peophin wasn't kidding. "Ok, Peophin. I'll help you. My name is Grundy. I have passed all my courses and I am pretty strong. What do you need my help for?" he said to the scared looking Peophin. "You must see! You must see! ...and gently blew a magic dust on him, creating a snorkel on his head. "Eh?" Grundy asked in confusion. The Peophin (who's name is Arinta, by the way) smiled at him. "A gift the Water Faerie has blessed upon me...you now have the ability to breathe underwater." She said in her beautifully high musical voice. "I still can't swim," Grundy insisted stubbornly. Arinta rolled her eyes. "Just hang onto my tail and you'll be fine." And with that she pulled the former space monkey into the water and began to propel through it like she was flying through the sky. A yelp of surprise escaped Grundy's throat, making a large bubble come out. ...a beautiful underwater castle, with a large, elaborately decorated chair at its center. "This is my home," Arinta said, "and that is my father's chair. He is the king." Grundy was in awe. "Have you found your father yet?" a voice behind him asked. Grundy turned to see an aged Peophin wearing a gold and emerald crown. "No mother. I found someone that is going to help us. Grundy, meet my mother, Queen Tizara," Arinta said. "Are you sure he can help?" the queen asked. "Yes, he said that he is very strong," Arinta replied. "Excuse me," Grundy asked, "but what am I helping you with?" "You are going to help me find my father. He has been kidnapped..." Author : dragongirl73

"I will try, but I'm not sure if I can." Suddenly, something appeared out of the water. It was a Water Faerie. The two Peophins bowed at the Water Faerie. Then, the Water Faerie Spoke. "Hello Grundy. I am the Water Faerie, Aquavine. I've been watching you for quite some time, and I'm sure you can help us. I sent Arinta to bring you here and she succeeded. Please try your best and I'm sure you will find the king." Aquavine spoke to Grundy in the most gentle and caring voice. "Uhhhh....okay....but I don't know how I can help...I can't-" "It's all right, as long as you try," spoke Aquavine once again. "I will teach you how to swim. I can't be pulling you with my tail throughout your adventure you know," said Arinta as she giggled. Swimming was harder then Grundy had expected....During his swimming lesson, he... ...saw something move behind the castle. "I'll be right back," he told Arinta who was in the middle of teaching him the backstroke. He doggie paddled over to the edge (he didn't know how to swim any other way yet). He saw movement. A shadow glided around the other side of the castle. Grundy didn't know if he should say something. What if the creature had a weapon? He continued to swim toward it. Stopping at the corner he paused to listen. "Are you sure it was a good idea napping the old prune boss? After all it might be hard to get to the queen, she is always inside the castle...I don't wanna get caught!" The stranger had a gruff voice. Grundy peeked around the edge and saw a red Jetsam speaking into a walkie talkie. He slowly picked up a sea sponge and threw it. It hit the Jetsam right in the in the back of the neck. Grundy pounced on him, but the Jetsam was a better swimmer...he swam out of the way. Grundy got a face full of sea mud. When he looked up, the Jetsam was gone. Then Grundy realized something. ..."Yeah?" said Arinta as she swam over to Grundy. "I just saw a red Jetsam! It was-" then he stopped and said, "Nevermind what it WAS doing. We don't need to worry about now! No time to waste!" He doggy paddled as fast as he could over to the spot where he last saw Tizara. Arinta, befuddled and dumbfounded, followed Grundy. Then, they both heard a scream. "Grab my tail! We will get there quicker! No offense," she added. "None taken," said Grundy who grabbed Arinta's tail. They both sped to the place where they heard the scream and saw Tizara fighting the Jetsam rather well. It seemed as though they, Grundy and Arinta, weren't needed. But the Jetsam soon gained the upper hand, since he looked younger and had more energy then Tizara, who had been Queen for a long time. The Jetsam shoved a Sea Cucumber Bag over Tizara's head and swam off before Arinta and Grundy had a chance to react. "Oh no! Mom!" cried Arinta as she swam with Grundy still hanging on to her tail to edge of the city. Grundy watched the dark figure, which was the Jetsam and Tizara, swim farther and farther away. "Maybe we can catch them," suggested Grundy. "No, we can't. We just need to wait for a golden opportunity to come," she said, looking as though she didn't even believe an ordinary opportunity would come. ...a Koi swam as fast as he could toward them. "I know that Koi," Grundy thought. As the Koi started to explain himself, Grundy figured out who he was. “Yes! I knew it! Roy!” Grundy shouted out as the two looked at him very strangely. “You were my training partner from Island Training Center aren’t you?” “Yes, Grundy, how could you forget this face?” Roy said without a doubt. “I heard a scream coming from this lovely princess...so I came as fast as I could.” “How did you know that she was the princess?” Grundy said with a raised eyebrow. “Hmmm, let' see. The last time I checked I was from Maraqua and if Arnita is the princess of the Underwater Kingdom I think I would know who she is,” he said with a smirk. “Well there is the problem,” Grundy took charge, “we need to find a red Jetsam....He kidnapped the king and queen.” “This should be easy,” Roy said picking up on a scent....The smell was very strong, and the Koi spotted the red Jetsam after two hours of searching. They followed him all the way to the hideout. A Lupe and Kougra wearing scuba gear guarded it. They took care of the guards by unplugging their air tanks. As they looked across the hideout they saw a big black Jetsam with a patch over his eye. Next to him were the king and queen tied up with seaweed. The red Jetsam was guarding them closely. ...who were holding sharp, menacing spears. The tallest of them, a blue, ugly fellow, snarled and said, "Intruders!" Grundy shivered in fear, but Arnita stepped bravely forward. "I am the princess of the Underwater Kingdom," she stated, "and we have come for my parents." Roy sighed. "ARNITA!" he yelped. "Grundy and I both learned in training that if facing an enemy and you are either royalty, related to a captive, or something like that, you do NOT reveal your identity!" "Oops," was Arnita's apology. "I'm sorry! I'm so young...haven't been through much training...I didn't know!" "Aw, stop ya babbling!" the tall Jetsam snapped. "Eyelesso! Coranon! I've caught us a sweet lil' princess and her friends!" The two Jetsams swam over. "Who are the others?" the one with the patch over his eye barked. "Don't know, Eyelesso," the blue Jetsam replied. ...suddenly all of the Jetsams stopped what they were doing and looked toward the entrance in horror. A loud echo was resonating throughout the cave. Eyelesso brought his flippers over his ears. "That noise!" he exclaimed. "It's the Flotsams!!!" As he spoke his last word, an army of Flotsams poured into the cave, led by Limoncello, the Golden Flotsam. "What is the meaning of this?" cried Coranon. "You have taken hostage our Queen Tizara and King Clamour. Under the Flotsam code this is unacceptable. Free your hostages and release the Princess and her friends, or face the consequences." The Golden Flotsam spoke these words with such conviction that Grundy felt a new found strength. ..."That's right!" If you don't release the royal family and my newly found friend and her parents, I will have to use my knowledge to defeat you! "Never shall we give up without a fight!" said the Jetsams. In an instant, Grundy whipped out his All About Jetsams book from his bookbag from training and sped read. He then learned about the Jetsams mean nature and how powerful they were. Grundy then prepared a plan. Quickly, he infromed the Flotsams and Roy. They were all going to be friendly towards each other! Since the Jetsams were mean, their ultimate torture would to see kindness and worst of all, laughter. With the plan into action, Grundy began: "Hiya Roy! I am sooo glad that you were my partner. Thanks for being a friend." And though Roy was confused at why Grundy was speaking to him so corny, he replied, "Not at all my dear friend. I enjoy being your friend and partner." In turn, all the Flotsams began nice conversations, too! Finally Eyelesso screamed, "All right, all right, take them back, just please...I beg of you, no more laughing and happiness and kindness!" With that he released the royal family and off the Jetsam swam, and everyone knew it would be a while before they took the royal family hostage again... Author : barrister7

..."In return for your kindness, I will repay you, with..." Grundy turned and gave a flick of his wrist. "SURPRISE!" All of Grundy's friends gathered around him and started cheering and laughing. Finally, after what seemed like an hour, the crowds cleared and his trainer came forward. "What is going on?" Grundy asked, he had no idea what they were all going on about. "You have completed your training now," said his trainer, in a deep low voice. "But I thought..." "Yes, I know you thought. But the final test you have only begun. You see, knowing how to ward off evil and protecting yourself have their own rewards. But caring for others and helping those in need shows true character. You have passed with flying colors." And so, Grundy learned a lesson that night. He had a good time at his party, but he would not soon forget the lesson he was taught. For, becoming a trainer is all fine and well, but helping others shows the true trainer within.
