Now that all the Lucky Coin stuff was over and Sloth went back to the old drawing board,
Brucey B was exhausted and more than ready for a little rest and relaxation. He was a hero in Sakhmet City and people
were talking about him all over the Lost Desert. They wanted him to stay and teach them all how to play Cheat! but
Brucey needed to get away for a while...

...besides, he lost his Lucky Coin and the only one that knew where it was high-tailed it out of Neopia.
Also, Sloth threatened get back at him. The last thing on his mind was Cheat! He needed to hide.
Concerned about the change in their friend, Capara and Princess Fernypoo tried to cheer him up.
"C'mon," Capara said smiling, "we can get the whole Cheat! group together and party!"
"Yeah," added Fernypoo, "you can also tell us how ugly Sloth REALLY is." Both Capara and Fernypoo giggled.
The word "Sloth" sent shivers up Brucey's spine. He couldn't tell them what Sloth said, otherwise
everyone would become concerned. "No thanks," Brucey said, hiding his fear. "I'm really tired.
The battle and the sun took it all out of me."
Capara's eyes narrowed angrily at him. "Fine! Don't come! As for me and Ferny, we're gonna stay here for a while."
"Do we have to?" Fernypoo whined softly.
"Don't be a baby!"
"But I wanna go home!"
"Go cry me a river! I'm staying here!"
As Capara and Fernypoo argued, Brucey couldn't help but laugh. At times like this, he really felt thankful
for such good friends. But the words continued to echo in his mind: "I will get you Brucey...you will pay for this..."
"Well, I hope you guys have fun. I'll see you guys around, okay?" Brucey smiled and hugged each of them. The fighting
instantly stopped. Brucey was really serious. They sadly waved good-bye and watched him walk into the sunset...

..."Well, now what did you do Capara?" asked Fernypoo.
"NOTHING!" answered Capara, angry. "Nothing."
"I'm sure gonna miss him," Fernypoo sadly said, hanging her head.
"Me too," Capara said with such feeling that Fernypoo was surprised. Then she saw the wild glint in
her eyes that told her that Capara and her mischievous mind had a plan. "Spit it out!" Fernypoo demanded,
wondering what in Neopia Capara was up to.
"Weeeellll...." Capara started.
Meanwhile...
What am I to do? thought Brucey B. Hide out and think? Yeah, I'll do that. Now,
let's find me a suitable hideout!
He walked and walked until he came to the outskirts of the Haunted Woods. There he found a cave
partially hidden by scary looking bushes. Perfect! he thought. As he strode in and stopped dead in
his penguin tracks when he saw his own reflection in a puddle...

...something glistened from underneath the water's surface. The small shiny shape appeared to be a
coin like material. Brucey B stood and stared for a moment. He picked up the small penny and was painfully
reminded of his lucky coin. Brucey decided to enter the cave. His mind flooded with a million thoughts at once.
Where could Sloth be? What is he planning? Where is my lucky coin? What if something's happened to it, I'll
never forgive myself! Brucey shook his head and continued into the cave. "Maybe I can sleep all this off," he
mumbled to himself. He huddle down on the mossy cave floor and drifted into a deep sleep...
Meanwhile...
Capara was pacing about, telling her plan to Fernypoo...

..."So you see? That way we'll be ready for Sloth, next time!!!" Capara finished with a dramatic bow.
"Um...Capara? I don't really think that a "magical rod" that was blessed by the Faeries can tell us
anything about Sloth...." Fernypoo frowned. "But that's not a bad idea. A detector thingy for evil...
yes....Brilliant."
"Well, it doesn't matter." Capara hurried on, not listening to Fernypoo. "I'll go and ask the Uber-Dark Faerie
to bless this...stick!"
"It's a stick of wood! And you don't even know where she lives!" Fernypoo objected as she followed Capara.
Meanwhile...
Back in the cave, Brucey woke up with a start. "Whew! It was only a dream..." he sighed. "I thought that Dr. Sloth
was coming back again. And this time, with a more EVIL plan..." Brucey shook his head. "And all these evil Grundos
were attacking...Faerieland!...Or somewhere...in the sky....and a rod...of power...." He laughed nervously. "I guess
I must be REALLY tired. Haha, Sloth's gone forever..." He dozed off fitfully, never realising how prophetic his
words really were...

..."So, you see, miss, uh... Dark Faerie, yeah, we need you to bless this stick here so we can tell or at
least have a warning when Sloth comes back," finished a nervous Capara.
"What's in it for me?" the Faerie asked maliciously. "A little havoc does Neopia some good for Neopia, makes
it more... exciting!"
Sadly, Fernypoo and Capara dragged their feet towards the door. After they left, the Dark one took a small
bag from under her cloak. She went outside to a dirty pool and poured in the contents. A shape formed in the
water.
"Who is it and what do you want?" an evil voice asked.
"Well, Sloth," the Faerie said, "I have some information for you..."

...two pets by the names of Fernypoo and Capara are planning to make a stick that will show when
you are returning to power here." She laughed maliciously and went on, "Stupid, stupid girls! I
believe that they might try to see Edna in the Haunted Woods, although I doubt that an old hag like
her would do such a favour for two..."
"Do you think I care about your idiotic ideas?" Sloth boomed. "Last time I did that, you were almost
found out. Do you know what that would mean?"
"Yes sir, but..."
"Silence!!!!" roared Sloth. "You are lucky I'm not there, or I might consider disposing of you. Meet
me in the Ice Caves at midnight and we will discuss our plans for getting rid of those two meddlesome
creatures and Edna the Witch... and, my dear, if you don't show up..." The Faerie gulped. "...well, I
will have to come looking for you, won't I?" He cackled a high-pitched cackle, and with that the
picture in the pool swirled around and around, until it was only a blur of colour, Sloth's laugh still
ringing in her ears...

..."What has gotten into Sloth? I used to be his right-hand-man, well, woman. Now he's changed. Did I do
something wrong?" Dark Faerie asked herself. She shook her head, "Never mind, there are more important
matters to deal with. I've go to figure a way to trap Edna and the meddling Capara and Fernypoo and
send them to their doom, then the Master will favour me again! Hm, hm, hm, hm!" With that horrible thought
fresh in her mind, the dark one plodded through the muddy floor of her cave, trying to come up w/ a cunning
plan...
Meanwhile...
"Capara, what shall we do? The Darkness Faerie refused to bless the stick, and we don't have much time!
Oh what shall we do, what shall we do, WHAT SHALL WE DO?"
"Oh stop whinning, would you?" snapped Capara. "What we have to do now is to find other Faeries to
help us."
"But where can we find them?"
"We'll find a way somehow," said the worried Capara...

..."Hello, reality check, you are not a Scorchio!" said Fernypoo. "We can't fly up to
Faerieland and even then, the Faeries might not be there!"
"We could ask someone else magical," said Capara.
"Like who?" demanded Fernypoo.
"Like Edna the Witch!" she declared triumphantly. "She's got enough power and good
looks to bless any twig of ours!"
"Uh uh! I'm not going to the Haunted Woods again ever. 100% NO!!!" said Fernypoo.
Which is why they were setting off for the Haunted Woods within the hour...
Meanwhile...
Brucey B was cowering in the back of his cave. He had a dream that the Dark Faerie had
come and she turned out to be Sloth's servant! "This is ridiculous," he told himself firmly.
But he was worried, scared and alone. "I'll go and seek help to confront the Darkness Faerie."
He decided finally but the Faerie had already crept back into the cave...

..."Gotcha, you fool!" Before poor Brucey knew what was happening, he felt very thin, but strong
cords bind themselves around him. Brucey struggled, not believing that he could not break the
frail-looking thread. "Don't you bother to try to escape," the voice said again, "the thread may
look weak, but they are the strongest in Neopia. Now, if you treasure your life, close your eyes."
Obediently, Brucey shut his eyes. Suddenly, he felt cold wind being blown onto his eyelids. The
feeling was so unpleasant; it sent chills down his spine. Brucey opened his eyes and looked around
him, just that he did not see anything.
"Nah, don't bother to try to see me. You're temporary blind now."
"Wh...what?!? Who are you? What do you want?"
"Oh, nothing much... just to get you out of the way," the voice replied when we get what we want
from you we'll just dispose of you..."
"What... dispose of me?!? Oh no... what are you going to do... if my friends are really my friends
they will be here any second with help. You, who ever you are, won't get away with this..."

..."Ugggh! I'm so sick of you pets whining! It's always 'Please, don't hurt me' or 'I'm going to
tell on you' or 'Waaaaaah, I'm a big baby'! Bah! I've had enough of you whiney pets," the voice
cried in agony. "I think I'll just give up and join the good side! You whiners are too much for me."
There was a sudden flash of white and the ropes disappeared. Then Brucey could see again, and he was
alone. "I've got to find my friends! I'm scared," he cried. "I'd better go ask Edna the Witch...

...Brucey cried angrily. "Oh stop whining!" the voice growled. Suddenly a strong current of
air lifted Brucey off the ground, who still could see nothing. "Put me down!" Brucey yelled
angrily. Quickly the wind, as if being directed, blew out of the cave heading south in
direction. "Don't worry Brucey B, soon we'll get the information we need and then you can
say Bye Bye!" the voice laughed.
Meanwhile...
"I hate being in here!" Fernypoo sobbed clutching Capara and slowly walking through the dark
Haunted Woods.
"Fernypoo I hope you won't be like this the whole way to where Edna lives," Capara groaned.
"Oh yes I will, I'm to scared to act any other way!" Capara and Fernypoo trudged farther
along till they spotted a strange cave with the sign "Edna the Witch Lives Here".
Slowly Capara inched forward and peeked inside the cave. "Ahhhhh!" Capara screamed
jumping back. "An old witch emerged from the cave howling with laughter.
"Hahaha I love to do that!" the witch said happily.
"Are you... Edna?" Fernypoo asked.
"Me of course. Who did you think it would be?"
"I, I don't know."
"Well don't bother asking me for a stick to tell when Sloth will come back because you have
bigger problems to worry about," Edna answered.
"And what would that be?" Fernypoo said agitated.
"Well, your friend Brucey B needs your help. Use this to find him." Edna placed a small
triangle like device in Capara's paw. Suddenly a gold like light shot out of the front of
it creating a path to where Brucey must be. Capara and Fernypoo gladly thanked Edna and hurried
off to find Brucey. It was going to be a long road, but what are friends for?
The End
