WOSH! Austone the Techo had been snatched up in a net made of bamboo. "We caught you!!!!" A group of savage Korbats
yelled. The more Austone moved the more he became tangled. Behind him was another angry mob of wild, hungry Korbats (not all Korbats
were savages but this small group lived in the Dry Caves). The Korbats left Austone hanging in the net as they lit a fire under a very large pot.
Austone didn't have much time...

..."Hey!" one of the enraged Korbats yelled. "What about the Shoryu gumbo in the other end of the cave?" The Korbat tribe
would have forgotten about it, but the Annual Tribal Cajun Cookoff was tomorrow, and this year, they were determined to win. The savage
mob ran out so fast they forgot about Austone. He wiggled his hand out from the net and was reaching for a steak knife on a nearby
buffet table when a shadowy figure walked in. "I thought you'd try to escape!" It wasn't a Korbat...

...it was little Skeith. Within minutes, Austone was untied and heaved a sigh of relief. "Thanks, hey, I didn't catch your name."
"My name's Chris. I've been watching you since those savage Korbats caught you. I've was in the same boat as you once and ever since I felt
like having some revenge. They're nothing but a batch of trouble-makers." Austone soon found out from Chris that these savage Korbats
were abandoned by their owners and they formed a group. The flew around Neopia and set traps for any "lucky" passers-by and then bullied them.
"These Korbats are indeed mischievous!" exclaimed Austone, scowling fiercely. "We better make our escape." Just as Chris had finished his
sentence, a squeaking sound and a flapping of wings was heard behind the two. "It's the Korbats! They have returned! Run for your dear life!"
cried Chris...

..."Save yourself," Chris shouted as Austone began to run and leap over rocks and dart between trees. Austone felt sort of guilty but knew he had
no other choice but to leave Chris to fend off the savage Korbats. He looked back only once and saw Chris, although greatly outnumbered, battling
like a battling machine. Soon Austone reached the beach where his little raft was waiting for him. He jumped aboard but decided to wait just
in case Chris had survived the angry mob of Korbats. Ten minutes passed and there was still no sign of Chris. Austone was just about to push
off when out of the jungle...

...came a friendly Lupe. "Hey Lupe! Quick! My friend Chris needs help! A pack of Korbats are going to hurt him...we were outnumbered...there was nothing
else I could do but leave him to fight!" Austone cried. The Lupe thought for a moment. "A predicament if I ever heard one. Now, all we need is
the one thing that wild Korbats despise!" he said wisely. Austone looked confused and said, "How are we going to get the Dark Faerie to help us?" But
the Lupe just shook his head impatiently. "No! I mean the one thing they despise is being owned! They would never hear of going back to the
dreaded pound!" Austone nodded. "That makes sense. But I don't see how we could get them to the pound." "You have a lot more to learn, Austone," the Lupe
answered. "This is my plan...

..."We'll simply call the pound and report that we found a bunch of homeless, savage, and rabid Korbats. Then we should try to see if your friend
Chris is all right, but from a good distance. Most likely they haven't done anything with him yet. They'll be preoccupied with their stew
making." By the time the Lupe was finished talking, he saw a reassured smile on Austone's face. Then Austone replied, "We had better go
back to town to use the pay phone. You can ride with me on my raft." "Thanks," said the Lupe. Halfway across, Austone said, "Hey, I never did catch your
name." "Rufus," he replied. Later, after they had made the call to the pound, they went back to check on Chris. They got across at a
safe distance and looked. No one was in the cave! Suddenly, they felt a tap on their shoulders. They turned around, startled, to find
the face of the head Korbat, Korkey. "Looks like we're gonna feast tonight, boys," Korkey said as he drooled like a hungry dog...

...the savage Korbats surrounded Austone and Rufus...there was no way to escape. As the Korbats slowly came closer to net, the two
frightened pets heard a sudden Tarzan-like call coming from the trees high above them. "Hey korbats!" It was Chris--he was alive
after all. "Try and pick on someone your own size!" He leapt off the tree and swung towards the captives and swooped them up,
"Luckily I found this vine here!" "But Chris we thought you..." "Well so did I but then I heard a van coming toward us and I knew
I was going to be okay. As it distracted the Korbats I climbed up a nearby tree and escaped, isn't it great?" Chris said joyfully
but Austone didn't look so pleased. "How are we gonna escape these Korbats though!?" "Easy, they'll be gone in about 3, 2, 1...there
we go. Have a look." Chris pointed towards the group of Korbats. Austone was confused at what Chris was trying to tell him but then
he realized when he saw the van. The pound was there on time to pick up the Korbats...

...Unfortunately, what came out of the truck was a pet from the pound, but it certainly didn't look like it worked there. Suddenly Korkey started laughing
hysterically and the other Korbats soon chimed in. Rufus had a blank expression on his face. Chris looked astonished. "Who is that?!"
thought Austone. Korkey went over to the thing that came out of the vehicle. "Pangaea, is that you?" he inquired. "Sure is, Korkey.
I escaped the slammer when I heard that someone was going to pick up a bunch of Korbats. There are only two large cages in the back.
I assumed one for that Techo and one for the Skeith. I guess we can squeeze two in one cage...

...But before the Korbats could team up and round them into the two cages, the quick-thinking Chris had soared into the air and dive-bombed to
the ground, sending the Korbats scattering and running. There was so much pandemonium, Rufus and Austone were able to elude their captivators
and help Chris. Rufus tried his luck at Korbat-herding, driving them towards the van while Austone leapt into the driver's seat and backed
the van up. The Korbats were screeching and running so much, they didn't see where they were going ... which was right into the open mouth
of the cage! Chris folded his wings and joined Austone, who had already been joined by Rufus. Austone called back to them with mock concern,
"Heh, is everyone comfortable back there? What about you, Pangaea and Korky? We gave you the special treatment, you get to be squished with
the rest of the gang in a cage ... which means, um, 500 or so per cage? Roomy, isn't it?" Chris and Rufus snickered at them. "Well, what
should we do with them?" Chris asked. "Why not drop them off at the pound? We need to return the truck anyway," replied Rufus. "Great idea!"
chimed in Austone. "Hey Korbats, how does this sound? A happy life at the Neopian Pound!"
