SPLAT!!!!!
The snowball hit Marco the Mynci square in the forehead. He swiftly bent over and cupped some freshly fallen snow between his paws. In the blink of an eye, he counterattacked with three well-aimed projectiles.
"Ow! Truce! TRUCE" cried his best friend Dmitri, a mischievous Stealthy Acara. He raised his paws in surrender. "I should've known better than to start a snowball fight with you!" But he hadn't been able to resist. It was a gorgeous day in Happy Valley, the perfect kind of just-below-freezing, snowball-making weather that only happened a few times a year.
Marco slowly tossed a snowball between his paws. "Okay," he replied, "I'll have mercy...if you buy the slushies!"
"DEAL!"
No visit to Terror Mountain was complete without a trip to the Slushie Shop. Marco casually threw his snowball at a distant pine tree as the two friends crossed the valley. "I hope they have the Secret Sloth flavour today!" he said. "I'm feeling adventurous!"
"If you want a REAL adventure, I have a better idea," Dmitri replied with a crooked grin... |

"Have you heard the rumour about the treasures of the Ice Caves?"
Marco had of course, heard of a particularly famous Usul who had made such adventures many years ago now. However, nobody had dared venture into the deeper parts of the caves for many years now. The folk of Terror Mountain learned many perilous tales of what lies within the ice caves from a young age.
"Dmitri, I'm not sure I like where this is going..." replied Marco
"Oh come on Marco, it's been so many years since anyone's been down there, surely nothing lives there any more. I bet there's LOADS of treasure just waiting to see the light of day again!"
Marco had to admit, that treasure sounded pretty glorious. With a sigh, he followed after his friend, who was already bounding towards the great gaping mouth of the cave...

The closer they got to the cavern the more the temperature dropped. A cold gust of wind hit Marco square in the chest making him shiver all over. As they finally approached the entrance he could see more clearly just how eerie this cave was. The smell of it could be sensed a mile away, musty and cold. It was vast and dark with giant icicles protruding off all the walls. Weird sounds emanated deep in its depths that sounded unlike anything he’s ever heard. The thought of what could be lurking inside sent a chill down Marco’s spine making him second guess this adventure.
“We need to turn back Dmitri, this was an awful idea, I don’t like the looks of this at all.”
Dmitri on the other hand was apparently experiencing things quite differently. “What are you talking about Marco? This looks...

...but his friend's enthralled words were cut short by a piercing shriek.
"Dmitri!" Marco yelled as he darted ahead to the next section of the cave, from where he had seen the shadows move just before the Acara disappeared into the cavern's inky depths. "I'm coming!"
The Mynci gaped as he realized that the room was glowing and that he was surrounded by Neopoints, doubloons, paintbrushes, and legendary items. This was it, the treasure room -- or at least the start of it, as the room seemed to carry on for miles.
But there was no time to think about that now. Marco's thoughts were cut short by a high-pitched voice seemingly emanating from the cavern walls itself. "You should not be heeerree..."
His heart thumping wildly, Marco turned and saw Dmitri, held by... How will this story end?

...an icy stalagmite piercing the back of his pantleg. Dmitri's eyes were widened in terror and his arms reached out for saving, "MARCO, HELP!" he panted, petrified.
"It's just ice," Marco cried, rushing toward the fraught mynci, "you're just pinned," he added, giving a swift kick to the icicle and freeing his friend. "We should get out of here, though, did you hear that voice?"
"Yeah, where did it come from, though?" Marco questioned, his fearful expression returning.
"It sounded like it was coming from further inside the cave," replied the acara, his voice unintentionally trailing into a frightened whisper. He turned to face the rest of the cave and could now see a sharp bend in the path several yards ahead of them.
"Is that... light?" Dmitri asked, wondering why he suddenly had a view of what was pitch black moments before. Before Marco could reply, the corner lit up as a large shadow scaled the perimeter of the curve and headed in their direction.
The pair scrambled to turn and fled as fast as they've ever run without stopping to look back. Marco skidded on the icy cave floor and gripped Dmitri's shoulder to steady himself, but knocked his friend off balance and sent them both straight to the frozen floor. Before they could scramble to their feet, a light encircled them and they screamed in unison too petrified to turn around.
Suddenly they heard a girl's laughter. Their expressions morphing from horror to bewilderment, they slowly turned their heads to see none other than Hannah standing on the ice shining a flashlight. "I'm sorry for trying to scare you," she said insincerely, failing to stifle her amusement. Marco and Dmitri relaxed and stood, but remained speechless.
"You boys don't really think you can handle this cave without a flashlight or a guide, do you? Follow me, I'll show you how it's done!" The End,
