It was the first day of Gathering when I brought Creyekee home, and it was love at first
sight. She was a shy Grarrl with a tough blue coat, sharp little teeth, and a huge appetite. And to top it off, she
was my very first Neopet and I didn't really know how to care for her... all I knew was that Grarrls pretty much
ate everything and anything. My friend, we'll call her Fancy_Socks (she wants to remain anonymous after that
terrible *cough*accident*cough* with Creyekee), was visiting that day and showed me how to take care of my Grarrl,
which wasn't as easy as we thought. Let me tell you how it all happened...GULP...

...Well, Fancy_Socks, being the wonderful friend that she is, had not only bought me a book on caring for Grarrls,
but also a very expensive and very cute Doglefox PetPet for Creyekee. We both cooed at and patted the cute little
creature for a minute before we set it down on the floor with Creyekee to play and stuck our noses into the book.
The chapter on feeding Grarrls said exactly what I had expected, that Grarrls will eat anything, but then at the
bottom of the page in bold red letters was something that I didn't know:
WARNING: When we say anything--WE MEAN ANYTHING, including PetPets!
Fancy_Socks and I gasped at this just as we heard a crunching sound behind us and turned around in horror to
see what had just happened...

...Creyekee had eaten his Doglefox. Well, it was our fault; we didn't really follow the book word for word.
Creyekee spat out the fur and such, and we spent quite some time cleaning his mess up. That didn't end
there, I assure you.
The next day, the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to PetPets came over. I suspect they have Neocams
in all the NeoHomes, and once anything happens to any PetPet, they just make a big yahoo out of it.
"So, you brought a Grarrl home, and you didn't know it was a pet that would eat anything. Don't you know
that Grarrls are only for the experts owners?" That happened to be a regular columnist with the Neopian
Times, Triggette the Peophin.
Well, 'tis true, I was a beginner, but I liked Grarrls. I had nothing to say to Triggette. Sensing my weakness,
this crafty columnist threatened, "I shall be writing a nice juicy article in the Neopian Times. Farewell.
Await the deluge of letters from other owners. A-hahahah!" Oh no. She did say deluge, right?...

...I tried to push what Trigette had said out of my mind. "No one will write letters to me," I said to myself.
I shook my head and opened the Grarrl book. "Feed Grarrls only the finest meats. DO NOT FEED THEM ANY
VEGETABLES. Doing so will cause a reaction in the Grarrl's stomach which triggers something in the brain.
The results of this vary with each Grarrl. It is vital that they eat only meat."
"Well, that's easy enough," I said. I looked in the refrigerator. "Here's a package of frozen hot dogs.
I'll just heat a few up."
I cooked the hot dogs, put them on a plate, and placed them on the floor. Loud growling and thundering
footsteps told me that Creyekee was coming into the kitchen for her dinner. She quickly gobbled up the
hot-dogs and looked at me, drooling.
"You want more food?" I asked, squatting down to her height.
She licked my face. "I guess that means yes," I said, wiping the sticky slobber from my cheek.
I opened the freezer and took out the package of hot dogs. I was about to take two more out when I noticed
the label on the package. "Veggie dogs," I read.
"Oh no!" said Fancy_Pants, backing away from Creyekee. "Don't ever say VEGGIE!"
I turned to look at Creyekee, wondering what I would find...

..."CREYEKEE!" I ran over to where my Grarrl was lying on the floor, looking very sick
as she clutched her inflated stomach.
"Bloaty Belly!" Fancy_Socks stated with a look of shock. I had heard of Bloaty Belly before, but
I didn't know how to deal with it.
"How much is the medicine?" I asked, fearing the worst... Since I was a new owner, I didn't have
much money.
"About 3000 NP."
"THREE THOUSAND!? I don't have a thousand Neopoints!"
Just when I thought it couldn't get any worse, there was a knock at
the door...

...I opened the door to a billion camera flashes. I rubbed my eyes and saw Triggette the Poephin followed by a
small army of photographers. Triggette stuck a microphone in my face and asked, "Is it true that your Grarrl
is responsible for eating a PetPet, and now are abusing your Neopet by feeding it the wrong type of food?"
I looked around confused and saw a camera watching my every move, the camera man was a yellow Kacheek. He had a
nametag that read "Chuck." I realised that I was still being watched and looked at Triggette. "Um...no, I'm not
responsible for those things!" I said as I slowly backed up towards my Neopet.
"But just a few days ago you let your dangerous Gnarrl eat an innocent little Doglefox, and now you let him get
deathly sick by feeding him veggie dogs when it is clearly known that Grarrls do not eat veggies?" Triggette
said as she stuck the microphone in my face again.
"I...I...I didn't know what I was doing! I'm a new Neopet trainer! Don't take Creyekee away!" I ran over and
shielded Creyekee, and pointed right at Fancy_Socks. "She did it!"
Fancy_Socks looked horrified...

...as I framed her, my best friend. I know now, when I look back, that I shouldn't have, but I was terrified!
"But, but, but I didn-" started Fancy_Socks horrified at what I had just said. Just to my relief a Chia
policeman came barging through.
"All righ' folks. Let's clear on out, this is private property, don't ya know? Come on, move on out!"
boomed the Chia.
Grumbling, all of the photographers and Triggette the Peophin climbed off of the porch and sped off in
their news vans.
"Now, missy, I understand you fed this poor Grarrl V-E-G-G-I-E dogs?" the policeman asked Fancy_Socks.
"NO! I DIDN'T! PLEASE DON'T FRAME ME, PLEASE!" Fancy_Socks looked desperately at me. I avoided her eyes.
I looked up a moment later and saw she was losing control.
"I DIDN'T DO IT, HONEST!" she shrieked at the policeman as he handcuffed her.
"You'll be comin' down to da station with me, missy," snarled the Chia at Fancy_Socks.
"But--" she started but stopped. It was no use arguing. She looked at me, her eyes narrowed. "You'll pay
for this, FRIEND. Oh you'll pay for this!" she snarled at me.
I watched in dismay as he led her out. I was worried. My friend was headed to the slammer because of me, and
now she's going to get revenge. As soon as she gets out she'll get me. I only had two questions: What was she
going to do? And what was I going to do with Creyekee...?

...I knew that Fancy_Socks would have no sympathy for me any more. I knew the only
thing that I could do was run away. I was miserable at the prospect. I loved Neopian Central
but it was the only way.
Sadly I got Creyekee and a few of my possessions and I left my NeoHome forever, knowing that in a
couple of minutes I would be one of Neopia's Most Wanted. Soon my feet got sore from all the
walking but where could a criminal go? Creykee began to complain she was hungry. Poor Creykee...
this was all my fault.
Then all of a sudden I saw a giant ship picking up people to go to Krawk Island--the perfect place for
an outlaw like me. I handed over a Codestone for trading realising I had no NP and boarded the ship.
Finally, after what seemed like forever, the ship ride was over, but I was a bit frightened about living
in Krawk Island when I saw...

..."Fancy_Socks? What are you doing here?" I gasped in disbelief.
"I got out. No thanks to you," she muttered, glaring at me and Creyekke. "I'm gonna make you pay for
what you did, you and your Grarrl." Swiftly, she turned around and disappeared into the depths of the jungle.
"Fancy_Socks! Wait!" I cried, but it was no use. She was too far away to hear me. And even if she did, she
wouldn't have bothered answering back.
I hugged Creyekke close to me. What did Fancy_Socks mean when she said, "I'll make you pay for what you did,
you and your Grarrl." Whatever it was, I didn't like it.
A screeching above my head interrupted my thoughts. Creyekke let out a long sad moan. It was a very large
grown up Pteri, very menacing, and was heading straight for Creyekke!
"C'mon Creyekke! Let's go!" I tried to push Creyekke, but the poor Grarrl was still suffering from Bloaty Belly.
"I know you're responsible, Fancy_Socks!" I yelled indignantly.
The large Pteri let out a long screech and swooped over Creyekke and I, and somewhere I heard Fancy_Socks
laughing evilly in the distance...

...As a cloud of feathers cleared, I could see Creyekee being carried off, with no difficulty at all,
by the great Pteri. I stood up and tried to run after them, but the Pteri's wings carried them quickly,
farther and farther away.
"Creyekee! Creyekee, oh my poor Creyekee," I shouted, but to no avail. There was no one in sight. All I saw
was the distant horizon, at which I could see the tips of sharp rocks.
I turned around to look for Fancy_Socks. The evil laugh had subsided, and there was no sign of her anywhere.
Turning back to the direction in which Creyekee was being carried, I started running as fast as I could. I
ran and ran for fifteen minutes straight, but still no sign of Creyekee.
I was tired, thirsty, out of breath, and desperate. "Creyekee, Creyekee, how did I ever manage to cause all this
mess!" I covered my face in my hands and began to cry.
When I recovered, I began to walk on until finally I reached a cave hidden in a cluster of rocks. I tried to
look into the darkness, but all I saw was a ribbon of light coming from the hot sun through a hole in the cave
roof. As I peered into the darkness, I heard a sharp cry come from it. It echoed through the cave, and I
recognised it as the yelp of an Acara. I didn't want to go in, but I had a strong feeling that my Creyekee was
hidden within the dark depths of that cave, and I just had to find her... well, maybe not. She wasn't
such a great pet anyhow, and she was always getting sick and everything and eating things she shouldn't. I think
I'll get a Lenny instead. Good-bye, Creyekee. Good-bye.
