By day, Alvie the Shoyru worked as a doorman at the Presidential Palace.
The work was hard, and it didn't pay very much, but at least he made enough NP to enjoy an occasional
rare toy or fancy dinner, which was fine by him. Besides, Alvie was good at his job, and he liked
working at the Presidential Palace, one of the most luxurious hotels in all Neopia.
However, nobody at the Presidential Palace knew about Alvie's secret life. You see, in the hours
while he was away from the Presidential Palace, Alvie the Shoyru...

...was really the leader of the "Shoyru Super Shoguns," a band of samurai responsible for keeping
Neopia safe from villainous enemies. These brave Shoyru always carried Shoyru Swords, Shields and
an unlimited supply of Shoyru Sharp Shortcakes filled with explosive Sherbet.
One night, all was quiet at the Presidential Palace. Alvie tiptoed away to their secret headquarters,
where the others were waiting.
"What do you have to report?" Alvie asked in an authoritative voice that was very different from
his daily innocence.
"Well," one of the other Shoyrus, a gardener named Shoythang, muttered, "I have some bad news.
You see..."

...the Shoyru agent on his way here tonight was intercepted." Everyone gasped. "He had some Top
Secret information about the you-know-what." Shoythang said. "The Ninja Chias sent out fifteen armed
warriors to get him."
"But how can this be?" Alvie exclaimed. "He was our best agent!" Everyone started talking now. Then
another Shoyru stood up and said...

..."What are you talking about, Shoythang? The 'lost' agent is coming through our door!" He pointed
to a discreet crack in the ceiling, which they used as a doorway. A body wriggled through and dropped
to the ground beside Alvie. It was cloaked in heavy black material, which concealed its entire body.
Who else could it be but Shoysan, the missing agent?
"Shoysan! We thought you'd been captured!" everyone cried in relief. Everyone, that is, except Alvie,
who narrowed his eyes at the cloaked face. Wasn't Shoysan taller and thinner than the stout figure
before him?
Shoysan gave a derisive snort. "Captured?" he said mockingly. "Who would dare?" In the uncomfortable
silence that followed, Shoysan laughed while scanning the room. "I've located the band of Ninja Chias
that's supposedly out to get me," he said. "Come, we will track them down and punish them for
attempting to capture me." He started towards the entrance, then stopped when no one made a move to
follow him. "Well? I said let's go!"
Everyone glanced uncertainly at Alvie, who strode up to Shoysan and peered at his veiled face for
a long, tense moment. "You're not Shoysan!" he finally spat. "You--"
There was a blinding flash of light and a great booming sound. When the smoke cleared, the Shoguns
saw their leader laid out on the ground...

...unconcious. They soon revived him, but in their haste the Shoyru Shoguns hadn't noticed that
all of their weapons were gone. All, that is, except Alvie's Shoyru Sword.
Alvie got up, enraged. He said, "I'll get them!" and took flight towards the Ninja Chia hideout
in the Haunted Woods. When Alvie arrived, the Chias were waiting for him, brandishing all of the
Shoyru weapons.
"How dare you?!?" Alvie said angrily, then charged...

...right into a trap! A deep pit opened beneath him, then closed! Alvie was helpless, and to his
outrage and dismay, he heard the Chias hurriedly diguising the hole, so that it wouldn't be seen.
He had no food or water, either. "So, they plan to starve me, do they?" the furious Shoyru
thought, "I'll show them!"
Curiously, he ran his fingers along the cave's walls. To his astonishment, he found a small hole
in the side. "This is my chance to escape," Alvie realized. He put his Shoyru Sword on its lowest
setting, and aimed carefully for the hole. When Alvie pulled the trigger, the sword emitted a muffled
sound, and the hole opened just wide enough to let him through.
Alvie tunneled his way underground until he felt himself break through to the surface. Sticking his
head out, he blinked a few times, because he was unaccustomed to the light. Having been in the dark
for so long, the Shoyru then saw he was at...

...the Ninja Chias' secret hideout! As Alvie reached for his Shoyru Sword, he saw three green Chia
guards, wearing black cloaks and on the lookout by a silver bolted door. Alvie quickly darted from
bush to bush and tree to tree, just in time to see ten more hooded figures carrying large crates.
"Do you have the weapons?" one of the Chia guards asked, stepping in front of them.
"Do you think us idiots? Of course we do." the nearest figure growled. Suddenly, he lifted his head
and sniffed the air. "There's a Shoyru here! Somewhere near... there!" He pointed at the exact bush
in which Alvie was hiding.
Alvie picked up his sword, stood straight, and held it pointed straight at the guard, as if to
challenge him. Just then, twenty-three more Ninja Chias emerged...

...from a sky roof that Alvie hadnt counted on. They landed and looked about them. Dressed in heavy
black capes, their figures were unrecognizable, but for the Ninja Chia emblems on their backs. They
drew their weapons, and Alvie pressed up against the wall. This was most certainly the end, but...
...they turned around and threw back their hoods, then began to hack at the other Ninja Chias. It was
his Shogun mates! They'd come to rescue him. He joined in the fight, but just then, when they seemed
to be winning...

...Alvie was grabbed from behind, and a long silver blade pushed up against his throat. He couldn't
see who was holding him hostage, but the mysterious figure yelled, "Alright, unless you want your
leader sliced and fried like Barbequed Tigersquash..."
But at that moment, everyone looked at each other in confusion. "Barbequed Tigersquash?" they
murmured, "What kind of a freak barbeques Tigersquash?"
The figure was taken aback. "You've never heard of Barbequed Tigersquash... really? Well, it's very
good..."
"Eww!" someone yelled out from among the Shogun Samurai.
"Gross!" shouted another.
In his attempt to defend Barbequed Tigersquash, the mysterious figure seemed to forget about Alvie.
"No... no really, its quite yummy! Well-done and dipped in a light butter cream sauce..."
But once again, he was drowned out by the sounds of disgust from the crowd. While stammering about the
good qualities of Tigersquash, Alvie slipped away unnoticed, making his was to a loose rope he'd
seen hanging from a high rafter.
Discreetly, he climbed midway and swung above the gathering. Just as the Chia was saying, "No really,
you can even add some salt and basil and it tastes like..." he was knocked to the ground by Alvie, who
was met by a huge cheer from his buddies.
Once they'd recovered their weapons and gone back to Shogun Samurai Headquarters, the Shoyrus sat
in a sort of tense silence. It seemed as if everyone had something on their minds, when finally
Shoythang broke the quiet by saying, "You know, Barbequed Tigersquash doesn't sound that bad..."
Immediately, everyone jumped in agreement, and let's just say they ate well that night.
The next morning...

...Alvie returned to his job at the Presidential Palace. He helped people with their luggage, held
open the doors, and greeted everyone pleasantly. Several customers commented on how kind and polite
he was. Alvie just smiled and thought to himself, "If they only knew...."
