A Hissi’s One Wish

Fear not of my long purple claws,
My attitude and my flaws,
Though I may have a long slithery tail,
And a menacing glare that can impale,

All I dreamt of, from the day I could crawl,
The one wish, that I wished most of all,
Was for Hissis like me to be understood,
And join the fight for the common good.

Stay awhile, won’t you listen to me,
It really won’t be hard to see,
We may look to be big and scary, 
Even when painted faerie.

Except deep inside, we have a silent longing,
For some kindness, a sense of belonging.
It may be easy to look at us ostracize,
Even when we just want to socialize.

Please care not about my looks,
You don’t have to go by the books,
So stop by, and stay a while,
I really do, have a lovely smile.

Despite my sharp fangs and serpentine face,
All I really want, is long, warm embrace,
As pets or friends, Hissis are truly great,
Much more than our looks indicate!

The Ghost Hissi

Lurks a ghost Hissi,
Sensing without sight,
Moving quick and free.

Slithering swiftly,
Through ancient tunnels,
Coiling tightly,
Hallowed earth buckles.

Its gleaming red eyes,
Pierces quiet calm,
It will paralyze,
With uneasy qualm.

Ethereal foe,
Menacing and tough,
Encounter is woe,
One glance is enough.

Layton the Darigan Hissi

Come closer, and I’ll talk of the greatest Hissi of all,
The name’s Layton Vickles, if you can recall,
In Yooyuball, he’s team captain, the best at the game,
MVP, top scorer, cup winner, all his claims to fame.

Think back to Neopia’s past, in days of yore,
He was the star in Darigan Citadel’s young core,
Yooyuball was but a new game on the block,
Yet with his prowess and power, the cup was a sure lock.

Ice, Faerie, Fire, no matter which he saw,
He couldn’t be beat, with any yooyuball in paw,
But the Darigan Yooyu, he loved most,
With it, why he could go coast to coast.

So needless to say, during the games later that year,
His team climbed the ranks, with none to fear,
Led by the strongest Hissi, who was second to none,
Each and every matchup was clearly won.

Layton Vickles and Darigan Citadel stood alone in first,
While other teams swore, the game was cursed.
Virtupets retreated to the Space Station,
Kiko Lake…..collected donations.

When it was said and done, home he went, with trophies galore,
Darigan Citadel was a champion, and underdog no more.
Soon, the Altador Cup will come to Neopia once again,
Don’t forget how the story of the greatest Hissi began.

Oh how I wish,
That I could be,
Something other,

You might be lucky and grab a negg,
If you manage to prevent an item’s break.

If it cracks? I tell you, run away now!
That Snowager will surely catch you.
He’ll breathe ice all over you and your ‘pet,
And you’ll be feeling cold and awfully blue.

Wait, what is that though?
I thought the Snowager had no wings.
It seems to be a bit smaller too,
Are these two the exact same thing?

No? You mean, that is just an Ice Hissi?
Why, how clever for that snake ‘pet.
It could be a great Halloween costume,
Or to make Neopians everywhere fret.

The pet and petpet look quite identical,
That petpet has no wings at least.

I’ve surely been confounded today,
When I thought the Snowager was unique.

To the open floor with slow sashays,
Dressed in black and red attire,
Finished with an elegant hairstyle.

She snaps open her fan to start the piece,
And flutters it round in twirls and beats,
Her delicate wings weave and curve,
As she dances with poise and verve.

Her dancing heel stamps to the beat,
With each step precise and neat,
Layers of ruffled polka dots flare,
And twist and turn and flap in the air.

As a soulful song is sung alongside,
With rhythmic guitar playing nearby,
The story told through song and dance,
Captivates the audience.

And as the melody rises and falls,
So too does the sound of her footfall,
With a final pose, fan in wing,
The crowd fervently cheers and sings.
