GNORBU DAY SPECIAL

An Ode to Gnorbu Shearing
By Waning

Allergies are abundant,
As unmasked are the shears.
These tools of metal create quite a stir,
Gnorbu doth face their darkest fears.

Sullen Gnorbu travel toward the farms,
Their angst is felt in every step.
They do not choose to gather,
For it is merely a promise they have kept.

Their unwritten code of conduct states:
"Be you tall, short, or small,
Each Gnorbu must donate fur,
Not just a patch, but all."

Where does this fur go?
I too have wondered for quite a while,
The answer came as quite a shock!
For I have only seen the fur stay in a pile.

Once the day is finally over,
When every Gnorbu is completely bare,
Sloth zooms down in all his glory,
And he steals each strand of hair!

It is said he makes fine clothing,
With all this stolen fluff,
But really, why take the Gnorbu fur?
Those poor creatures sure have it tough!

When the day is done, there are no shouts of joy,
(Not a single hurrah or hip, hip, hooray!).
Across the land sneezes still echo,
For it's Gnorbu Shearing Day!

Shenkuu Warrior Princess
By Larkspurlane

Swiftly she climbs the steepest cliff-face, with
Her grappling hook shining, and her leaps
Energetic. It is an exercise in willpower, in
Never-ending perseverance, it helps her
Know herself, push her limits and find what lies
Underneath her Princess title; and what lies
Underneath the Shenkuu Warrior codes.

What lies beneath?
A focus, an inner peace, a
Reality that leaps with her from
Rock to rock as she grapples upward,
Intense,
Outpacing the small gusts of wind that
Race her as she scales the cliff.

Princess of Shenkuu, Gnorbu
Royalty, fleet
In her climbing and
Noble in look, she
Craves new heights, new
Experiences, so on she climbs,
Swifter and
Swifter.

A Little Bit of Wool
By Lily2b18

No more am I fluffy
With soft and fleecy hair.
Now all I do is shiver
For my body is so bare.
Today was my first shearing
It was quite a strange day.
I felt a little sad inside
When they took my fur away.
I must admit it's nice, though,
No more itchy winter skin,
But still I cannot bear the wait
For my fur's growth to begin.
But still, it's deep in winter,
I tremble in the cold
And am jealous of the little ones,
Who weren't sheared, for they were not old.
But wait... what's that you have there?
Could it be? It is! Oh joy!
You made a sweater from my wool,
And now it's mine to enjoy!

The Vain Gnorbu
By Soaringeagle25

Once upon a time ago
(or maybe 'twas just a day),
A little Gnorbu of sunny yellow
(My, doesn't that sound cliche?)
Could not do anything but admire
The beautiful mane he had acquired.

At every mirror he would stop and gaze
At his strikingly handsome visage,
Smiling knowingly at the praise
That he received in no shortage.
For everyone in town just knew
How handsome was this yellow Gnorbu.

Every night before bed
He combed his luscious locks,
A hundred strokes before he read
At a half past nine o’clock,
Dreaming sweetly of tomorrow
As he rested his head on his pillow.

But alas! When he woke up next morn
He was no longer in his room!
His pride and joy had been shorn
(But hey, it would be easier to groom!).
He wept and wailed in depression
Of what befell him in that fateful session.

He no longer felt that playful wind
Or see its luxurious shine.
His compliments came to an end
And he began to quickly pine.
But his loss of his beautiful mane
Is his just desserts for being so vain.

Stowaway Scrap
By Stariell

With the SS Primella just barely afloat,
Scraping into Mystery Island's blue bay,
One extra passenger leaps off the boat,
Scrap, the young Gnorbu stowaway.

He first crept on board with fate unknown,
To be thrown into the water or the brig?
But over the voyage, his courage has grown,
And his heart shown itself to be big.

Through stormy seas he never quailed,
With the spirit of one born to the water,
In spite of danger he wouldn't have sailed,
Without waiting for the professor's daughter.

Though he won no bounty of the usual kind,
The treasure lay in the places they'd travelled,
And Scrap's heart swelled with pleasure to find,
The Lost Isle's mysteries had been unravelled.

Now his future lies in wave and spray,
As a genuine Gnorbu sailor this time,
Long gone are his days as a stowaway,
His bravery has overwritten his crime.

Don't Ignore a Gnorbu!
By Anjie

Putrid was the dwelling stench,
That lingered on that day.
I passed him walking through the woods,
In shock, hastened away.

A Gnorbu of the mutant sort,
His gaze with strangest sheen.
I must admit I smelt him though,
Before his form was seen.

Chewing on some browning grass,
He watched me pass along.
I didn't say a word, you see,
And that's where I went wrong!

That sickly shade of dullest tan,
His gaze a dismal gold.
Flies did linger near his form,
A strange sight to behold.

Tufts of fur so oddly sprung,
Uneven from his shape.
And yet it seems, he followed me,
There was just no escape.

I tried to lose him on the path,
His hooves just trotted on.
Crushing grass and wilting trees,
And all he came upon.

Now, I fear, my Gnorbu friend
Did stay, I must confess.
He just won't leave my Neohome,
And makes a dreadful mess!

I did suggest we paint him blue,
(And thus may halt the smell!)
He simply ate my garbage bin,
And broke the chair, as well.

Heed a warning from my word,
With this, I do implore.
A mutant Gnorbu is the sort,
You shouldn't try to ignore.

How to Shear a Gnorbu
By _Razcalz_

Barn doors open, winds whip by,
It's that time of year again.
Day of shearing for Gnorbu,
We're after wool and manes.
Gnorbu shears, snip snip snip,
Ever wonder how?
'Tis your chance, so listen, friend,
Learn to shear a Gnorbu now!

Fetch a pair of Gnorbu shears
From lovely grooming shop.
Head o'er to a big red barn,
With fields now bare of crop.
You'll need a Gnorbu now, of course,
Otherwise, what's the fun?
It's not stealing, worry not...
Pick a Gnorbu, any one!

Grab a handful of dried grass,
To tempt the Gnorbu out.
Gnorbu's busy munching now,
Shear away, it will not pout.
Remember that old pair of shears?
You'll need it with you now!
Snip, snip, snip away,
As much as it'll allow!

When you're done, lead Gnorbu back,
It's now all nice and pink!
Without the fluffy coat of wool,
The Gnorbu sure did shrink.
Winter chill still in the air,
You deserve a warm wool hat.
Though the Gnorbu, sheared and cold,
May not agree with that!
