A Long Overdue (Re-)Introduction

Gilbert will tell you to pick it or leave it,
(and so long as it's not dung, you're free to eat it)
but should the farmer's hostility frame your perception of Gelerts
you'd be sorely mistaken, though you wouldn't be the first.

I argue that Gilbert is not mean, but misunderstood.
Yes, he is often not in the best mood,
but if visitors used your property to trash their old boots,
would it not make you frustrated too?

Just think of the love that goes into gardening.
I can't claim to know much about the world of farming,
but as singing to plants helps them grow healthily
one can only imagine how many songs Gilbert's berries have heard.

Upon trying to flirt.

Resigned to his fate,
Bruno wandered about,
In the shadows await,
A Krawk with tempting bait.

Bruno drank the potion,
His desires came true,
But he had no notion,
Evil was set in motion.

Neovian denizens turned,
Into grotesque monsters,
The joys they had yearned,
Erased by hatred that burned.

Chased into a cave,
Bruno stayed a decade,
Til a Usul so brave,
Spurred a journey to save,

Neovia from its curse,
Together with his sister,
Through challenges adverse,
Cured all from fate much worse.

My shy gelert

My gelert didn’t want a poem dedicated to his fabulous self
He doesn’t see himself worthy of all this attention
So here I am, to tell him and all your other gelerts to believe in yourself!
My love for my grey gelert is something I love to mention!

I love those super long and curly ears
The shapes of the ends change on his mood
I love it when they form a heart, it fills my heart with cheers!
If you see his floppy cute ears, please don’t be rude!

He feels so self conscious that he doesn’t look like a strong gelert, glowing with pride
He walks a bit hunched, scared to stand proud
Being a small grey gelert isn’t something he should hide!
