Eyrie Day Special

Eyrie Day at Sea
by rawbeee

Others of my species spend their days flitting through the air
Performing tricks most would not dare
Executing them with an elegance and flair

They soar through the sky with the wind in their manes
And might be mistaken for low-flying planes
Adrenaline like no other pumps through their veins

But you will not find me in flight
Please do not think me impolite
My home is below with little sunlight

Leagues under the sea
Is where you will find me
Much like the others, but not quite feathery

Water currents are more my speed
Dipping and dodging throughout the seaweed
The thrill of the ocean is something I need

Though there comes a day each year
When I dawn my finest gear
And with the others I join in great cheer

I launch myself forward, breaking surface tension
Soaring too through the sky for just a few seconds
It's Eyrie Day, did I not mention?

Eyries of the Woodlands
by miraday

The giant green valley sprawls before us;
The trees root into the landscape’s lush,
Rising into the hills like pollen drifting up
Accompanied by Eyries in the wind’s rush.

The Eyries of the Woodlands are exceptional:
Their wings outfold like outreaching canopies,
Brimming with life, growing towards the sun
And blooming full of white flower wreaths.

They take flight into the bluest skies;
Swooping like windward leaves swirling
In the gusts, drifting up, then falling down,
Neopets of prey effortlessly manoeuvring.

Their talons are sharp as whittled wood,
Their beaks gnarled like strong branches.
When they roost as terrestrial beings,
They await new heights in the heavens.

Springtime is when they first return to us;
Green shoots adorn their manes like jewels.
As summer saunters in with its long days,
The Eyries radiate with their perennials.

Autumn arrives, so their downs are displayed:
Red, orange and yellow foliage for feathers.
They are brilliant, the woodland’s proud joy;
Here for a moment, gone in winter's weather.

Flying High For Eyrie Day!
by redinatel

Above the highest tree there was,
Above the clouds and mountains even
Eyries have gathered all because--
On eyries day they'll all be leavin'

Leaving where, everyone wonders
As no one ever questioned them,
But this year there will be founders
Of what they hide, no matter what there is to come!

One eyrie leaves the mountains early,
Flying to an island far,
No one knowing why so hurried
To the island more headed are.

A petpet follows the eyrie,
Going unnoticed by all,
A spy being underneath
So many feathers as there are.

As the eyries all gather again
The petpet seems to notice
Thousands of balloons then did gain
For everyone to notice!

An eyries day surprise that's what it was
So clever and so sweet,
Gifted by eyries, with their own paws
To be later accepted all for the cause!

Happy Eyries Day!

Jahbal, Eyrie Sorcerer
by spotsilver

A sorcerer red in feathers and robe,
Long white beard flowing,
Green eyes glowing,
His Eyrie beak permanently twisted in a snarl,
He may be old yet he showed no sign of slowing.

The month of Collecting had well begun,
Whatever peace that was had come undone.
The siege of Kal Panning was in full bloom,
Its citizens turning to zombies and the city doomed.

It was Jahbal, member of the Circle of Twelve, who started it all,
For he had quickly grown mad with power,
Mercilessly wreaking havoc and disarray to the final hour,
Until a powerful enchantment trapped him in,
The Palace of the Two Rings in its highest tower.

Though physically confined now with magic and spells,
The ancient Eyrie’s rage could not be easily quelled.
So his essence still managed to escape somehow,
For ultimate defeat he would never allow.

The Tale of Eyrieki
by xghoul447

A maniac wrapped in bandages,
Whose prepared to cause panic;
They live in the Lost Desert,
But, they aren't sweet like dessert.

And yes, I'm talking about Eyrieki the Eyrie.
He's an ancient mummy,
Who was accidentally awakened.
He is the opposite of the word 'sunny',

He was a menace in Sakhmet,
And a main threat,
Until Lighting Lenny and him met,
They had a beatdown,
And Lighting Lenny eventually took his crown,

The tale and legend of Eyrieki will never be forgotten,
Even though, he was seen as evil,
Eyrieki was misunderstood,
He did the best he could.

The Shadow Eyrie
by calicotabbies101

Deep in the mountains, where no one dares to go
There they hide, a lonely soul
Their pelt is dirty, with eyes full of woe
And feathers black like coal

Here they have sat for the past several years
Hidden away from all others
No one knows why they hide from their peers
Up in the mountains, where harsh smog smothers

Their reason for living there could be anything
They may have ran from a creature pursuing
Or perhaps they fled from an evil king
Or maybe they caused their own undoing

Whatever it is, only they know
Deep in the mountains, a lonely shadow

Feathers of Eyrie Day
by ceyii

The mellow willows bend and turn
A rustling wind that shakes the ferns
A wingspan flush with verdant light
Above the rattling trees takes flight

No faerie in the warmest glade
Compares to wings that shine like jade
A feather falls from up on high
An Eyrie lays claim to the sky

On this day we remember you
Kass and Cap’n, Talinia too
When comes the tenth day of collecting...

Your memories we shall, forever, be protecting.

Happy Eyrie Day 2020
by x_mystichorse_x

A large and massive pet,
With immense ears and beak,
Ready to fly off they’re all set,
If a true battle Neopet you seek!

Its average height is 5 feet,
Making it one of the biggest pets!
And with its large back take a seat,
The Eyrie is nothing short of a threat!

They are smart and love to learn,
Exploring Neopia is a regular hobby!
If left alone the adventure they will yearn,
And probably go to the gaming Lobby!

Eyrie’s come in many wonderful shades,
From orange to robot to baby and white,
Extravagant on unique crusades,
Watch them soar into the night.

Happy species day to this griffin,
Create them, adopt or even trade!
Their beauty and intelligence a given,
It’ll be the best decision you ever made!

Happy Eyrie day 2020!

Thyora's Tear
by togepi_forever

A long time ago, they were happy
A long time ago, all was well
A long time ago, the world seemed perfect -
Then down, down, down it fell.

A crash through the walls of a small home
Two Eyries alone in the night
A brother protecting his sister
and doing so lost in the fight

Thyora, she ran to the river
sobbing alone on its shore
She didn't know how to move forward
for Ponfrie could be there no more

A passing-by faerie took pity,
and wiped a tear from Thyora's face
"Although I can't bring back your brother,
this tear will protect in his place."

And so her tear fell,
Turned to stone and shone bright
But the wounds of hearts don't heal so quickly;
The stars didn't sparkle that night.

A Baker's Morning
by typlohisioh

The night reveals the moon;
Stars light up the evening sky,
The crisp autumn breeze
Gently drifts through the window.

Four o’clock, the beginning of the day,
The Eyrie rustles away the blanket,
Shaking off the sleepiness from yesterday,
And comes to consciousness.

A baker must begin before dawn,
Melt the butter and stir the flour,
Surrounded by the warmth of the oven,
The smell of spices in the air.

There is a certain peaceful energy,
Working while the streets are half-deserted,
The external calmness
Juxtaposes with her excitement.

Just as her window fills with sunlight,
The timer indicates that the dessert is done -
A special treat for Eyrie Day, for the month of Collecting,
Won’t you try this Pumpkin Eyrie Souffle?
