Requires utmost depth. 
Infinite in scope and scale,
But do not hold your breath...

As you won't be going near it.
It's much too narrow for that. 
But don't be narrow-minded, no;
It's perfect for a Petpet

To venture down and explore.
Treasure doth await!
Like Grave Danger, but more
Meridellian in its state. 

Though, most often nothing happens.
No events, no items, nil.
That's not to say it does not give
The Petpet quite a thrill

To venture down the Symol Hole. 
Once a day is great!
While the adventuring is nice itself,
The treasure's worth the wait.

My Soothing Symol Sofa

or to put on your thinking cap.
The softness of this one couch
makes you anything but a grouch.

Any homework that you need done
shall be ended with a home run.

The Caution Of A Zombie Symol

A slowly-scooping, careful claw
Takes loam out of merciless 
Conditions in which its brothers
Squeeze against its rear and sides.

The bearer of the claw draws back
And reaches forth so gingerly,
So as not to disturb those
From below, as well as fragile skin.

One rapid rip, one stone too dense,
And seams of rotting flesh come loose.
The digger is aware and trumps
Alacrity with vigilance.

At last, alas, the largest star
Does stretch its wings over the land.
The digger, having done his job
Hops in his home and hopes to rest.

Invigorated with the lack
Of light his earthy shelter grants,
He springs up once the rays have left
The earth and softer ones emerge.

Resuming tasks not yet complete,
He prowls the fields for hapless grubs,
Then screeches once his meals are done
In more triumphant victory

Than Meridell could muster up
Just after both her valiant wars.
Some citizens nearby believe
'Tis ghosts or zombies bellowing.

Said citizens are but half-right --
No ghosts had been around that night,
But some report a Symol sight,
And moans, but never when there's light.

Symol Sympathy

In the fertile earth of Meridell,
A furry Petpet lives
And enjoys the creature comforts
That a cozy dwelling gives.

Furtively, he roams the grounds
With unassuming care,
Gathering little treasures
Deemed precious, fine, and rare.

Yet, in his modest domicile,
The Symol finds no peace,
For, visitors come unannounced
Any time they please.

At breakfast, as he tucks into
His Aubergine Surprise,
A Drackonack dives rudely in
With widely-opened eyes!

And, as he soaks in a warm bath
After foraging nonstop,
A Babaa lands right in the tub
With a perfect bellyflop!

In the evening he prepares for bed,
In cap and dressing gown,
And then, as he nods off to sleep,
A Noil climbs slowly down!

There clearly is no end in sight
To constant imposition,
As long as a new avatar
Is every Petpet’s mission.

And so, Neopians everywhere,
Please heed the Symol’s plea...
Once you attain that avatar,
Kindly let him be!

The Best Day To Visit

Up they pop and down they go,
Beneath the shade of a great big tree
In Meridell at the Symol Hole.
This day only comes once a year, you see,
To celebrate those darling little Petpets
With their button noses, round eyes,
And fluffy ears.  So, don’t forget
To visit this year -- you’re in for a good surprise.

Oh, the things you can receive 
From that nondescript hole in the ground.
Some prizes you wouldn’t believe:
Avatars, food, and backgrounds abound.
So take your (least favorite) Petpet and
Take a risk. They’ll likely return
With something plain old grand!

(Or maybe not at all.)

The Hoarding Symol

In the glorious lands of Meridell
resides the tenacious Symol,
with spoils from around the lands
(and they certainly are not coal).

He burrows down deeply,
so as to hide his loot 
In the infamous Symol Hole,
with its labyrinth of chutes.

For, where does he get his wares?
No one really knows.
He really hides them well
and hates to let them go.

Be sure to visit him daily,
and you might be in for a surprise.
For, some of his worldly spoils
will substantially increase your supplies.

So, whether your Petpet likes to jump,
take it slowly, or dive with wide open eyes,
you just might, with some luck,
be rewarded with an amazing prize!

Symol Hole Frustration

Deep in the countryside of Meridell
Is home to a place of great frustration;
If avatar collecting is your occupation,
Randomness: the prospect doesn’t sit well.

The place is the Mysterious Symol Hole,
Known to Petpets since times of old.
They must shimmy down, leap if they’re bold --
As you wait, you assume the waiting role.

They’ll be down in the dirt for a little bit,
So halt and take some time to think
Of the avatar, which, you could be on the brink
Of owning -- yes, it could be yours, 
But do not quit.

For, this avatar is a rare and worthy find:
Mysterious, baffling, curious... take your pick.
Remember, your Petpet could have found a stick!
But don’t despair, 
Don’t leave your dreams behind.

You will find it one day, I must assure you.
It may take days, or weeks, or even years.
A frustration so great it may bring salty tears,
But remember how happy you’ll be 
When you finally do.

See the event as your Petpet pops out --
Glistening, glittering, shiny, an avatar so new.
You’ll be thankful, relived, overjoyed... whew!
It’ll happen someday, I have no doubt.

But, before it does, and you wait for your Poppit
Or Meowclops, Meepit, Faellie or Gobbler,
Recall this avatar takes time, 
No matter how popular
You are, you must never think to quit.

Because, in the end, it’s worth the frustration.
