NIMMO DAY SPECIAL

Fond Memories of Nimmohood
By Agedbeauty

Meiau is a Kiko now,
But she was born much freer.
How she loved to jump and hop,
When she was a young Nimmo.

With strong long legs and big eyes,
And a yellow Nimmo wig,
She frolicked her way through life
As a charming Nimmo lass.

Though some curse a Nimmo's legs
As too ungainly to dress,
Meiau loved her lithe figure
And adorned herself with care.

Others said skirts made her legs
Look bowed, large, and unseemly;
Meiau loved those jumpy legs
With which she leapt to great heights.

Some even dare to say that
Nimmos just aren't so lovely,
But Meiau proved them all wrong
When she won beauty trophies.

But now Mei is a Kiko,
Which just isn't quite the same.
Though she's happy now, it's true
She misses her Nimmo life.

A Nimmo's Clarification
By Aurorapearl

I've heard them err just once too much,
So a distinction I shall make --
You'd be surprised the number of times
I've heard of this mistake.

On Caption Contests and other sports,
I've seen us two confused --
Nimmos, see, are not Techos.
My dignity is bruised.

One of us can lightly spring,
Both agile and nimble --
The other one is stuck on ground;
They are laughter's symbol.

We Nimmos are known for being slender,
With power in our legs --
Techos are of thicker stock.
(They've eaten too many Neggs.)

So, as you see, there's a great divide
Between the species two.
One of us is far superior --
Which one, I'll leave to you.

The August Nimmo
By Beagums

Every night when moon sits high,
The Nimmo begins his tune.
A band of mournful croaks and chirps,
Beneath the August moon.

The pond he roams is just out back,
From my window I can see him.
Upon a lily pad he sings and sings,
Pausing only for a swim.

And though he never says a word,
I know his song is sad.
Yet still a word I give not back,
No conversations to be had.

What ails my songbird Nimmo so,
To make such sounds each night?
What heartache has my friend endured,
What dark, relentless sight?

Under the August moon the Nimmo sings,
A tune forever mournful,
Of youthful times that come to pass,
Grief sung out in heartfuls.

Bonnie Pip Culliford
By Concertogreat_8

Bonnie Pip Culliford, the wee little lad,
Is a Nimmo of small stature, it's true,
But though height he has never had,
He never yet let this make him feel blue.

Bonnie Pip Culliford, the champion,
Likes his smoothies sweet and cold,
To sip whilst he leans against a stanchion,
With the air of a pirate so very bold.

Many have gone up against him,
And many have left defeated and cross,
For Culliford joined on a whim,
But his honour permits not a loss.

So come to Krawk Island that you might spy
Bonnie Pip Culliford with your very own eye.

The Lesson
By Dragonstorm_75

Slivers of wisdom tip my tongue,
Good counsel is a blessing.
My pupils, they are very young,
Their curiosity is waxing.

I raise my hand, hearts follow me,
Hopeful, fluttering, waiting.
Only one is still and dreamy,
The Nimmo's eyes are soaring.

My glassy gaze settles down,
Like a feather on his shoulder.
There is no whisper of a frown,
No anger there, no smoulder.

"Pupil of mine, come back to me."
A ripple in the rhythm.
Like windblown claws of ivy,
They summon from the fathom.

The student softly turns my way,
Then drops his head, downcast.
"Forgive me for my long delay,
I was thinking of the past."

Murmurs slipped into my mind,
Of a past I long since shed.
With a smile, I gently spoke in kind:
"That which once was has fled.

"Remember what has come before,
Though its lessons may seem harsh.
There is wisdom in its lore;
Many step-stones in the marsh.

"Ryshu, dwell not in your memories,
Inviting though they seem.
Instead you must take your ease,
And of the present you must dream."

The Nimmo youth took this to heart,
I could see so in his eyes.
"Go, my pupils! Leave, depart,
Your lesson is now over."

Chasing Snorkles
By Emilysusanburt

Get them! Get them!
Where'd they go?
I saw them sneaking around.
Find them! Find them!
Before it's too late
You'll know them by their sound.

That tiny grunting,
That squealing oink,
That's the Snorkles' call.
Help me! Help me!
Round them up!
I have to catch them all.

Every year it's the same:
They escape from their pen,
Though I shut the gate good and tight.
They must know some magic
Or a lock-picking trick
To succeed no matter how I fight.

The others think I'm crazy,
"They're only Petpets," they say,
But I've seen the look in their eyes,
Those cunning beady eyes
Above those cute little snouts,
Saying, "I'll get out, do or die."

So here I am once again,
Chasing the Snorkles
Under Anshu's watchful gaze.
This is no proper position
For a Nimmo to be in.
Meditation should fill my days!

But I'll catch them, you'll see,
And when my training's complete
I'll leave the Petpet-watching behind.
But once I'm a master,
I wonder if I'll feel whole
With no Snorkles left to find!

Hop Hop Hooray, It's Nimmo Day!
By Filter

Have you ever been to the Nimmo Day Hop?
Ironic, of course, but so very true.
A dance for one of our amphibian pals,
Come Nimmos of all colours, red, green, or blue.

Put on your froggy best and don't fill up on flies;
There's a giant banquet of bugs in store.
Eat all day and dance all night;
This celebration is never a bore.

Neopets of all kinds are welcome,
Even if the day boosts a particular pet.
Nimmos love to share everything they have,
Always happy and smiling, you can bet.

Of course the main event is the Nimmo Hop's Hop,
Where Nimmos delight in the long jumps and twirls,
Jumping to the beat as high as they can,
Dipping and twisting, falling in whirls.

It's an event like no other, none as exciting,
Seeing how acrobatic two rubbery legs can be,
They'll offer to teach you, to jump up real high,
To live as the Nimmo does, so happy and free.

Magma Nimmo
By Guddi6

Dawn flowers upon horizon
And blows her essence past;
Crimson streaks that tint the clouds
Fall to blinding golden grasp.
Something stirs, sifts through light
And cascades from hill, on high
Like a fervid flame, blazing by
Flaring past the perpetual skies.
Fiery lines slice through rocky sheen
And ignite, flaming, strong,
Incinerated, the sprinting form,
In fiery depths was born.
Embracing air, shuns mornlight,
And carves her own against the skies
A sphere of flame, an inferno,
Doth plunge and rise, plunge and rise.

And when the skies from pallid shade
Do form a merry blue,
Her sprawling limbs propel her down,
And she disappears amidst the magma hues,
Bound forever to her Moltaran home.
She bids goodbye the world above,
And amidst the fury roams.

Baby Nimmo
By Jjquil

A ripple on the water,
A rustle in the river reeds,
Something swimming in the pond,
Playing in the water weeds.

Peeking, peeping, bright blue eyes,
A tiny smile, a slimy tail --
A little tadpole swimming there,
Translucent turquoise, without a scale.

He paddles with his tiny feet;
Those little legs, petite and weak,
Someday will grow up long and tall,
But for now, just a pipsqueak!

Tiny bumpy baby Nimmo
Playing in puddles, after the rain,
Splashing, jumping, rolling, giggling,
Skipping down the muddy lane.

Nimmo Legs: A Ballad of Woe
By Ktkdk

It is not your fault
That you cannot touch your toes.
It's just one of your long-legged woes.
Regardless of how flexible you are,
It's impossible for you reach that far.

It is not your fault
That every time you go to the NC Mall,
They tell you shop at Neopets Big and Tall.
The clothing that fits all the rest
Reaches only to your ankles at best.

It is not your fault
That when it comes time to race,
You win even at your slowest pace.
Your long legs make you take great bounds.
No one wants to race when you're around.

It is not your fault
That you are taller than the rest.
Even the Eyrie is just below your chest.
Your legs make you brush against the sky,
And others crane their necks as you walk by.

Although you may not like your legs,
For such a blessing, other pets beg!
You legs are lovely and so are you,
So love them as much as we all do!

Techo Master's Master
By Kuroge

A brilliant sapphire statue
of a Nimmo most fierce;
through a bystander's eyes,
his gaze will certainly pierce.

Rumoured to have apprenticed
the renowned Techo Master,
he has also been famed
to be the paragon headmaster.

His identity shrouded in the mist,
his past dissipating into the air,
that which remains of him
is only his blank blue stare.

This magnificent figure,
an iconic symbol of power,
will stand immutable
until time's last hour.

Believe in yourself,
for no one else will,
the wise Nimmo's words,
hope he attempts to instill.

To Sit Upon a Lily Pad
By Ladygaladriel213

To sit upon a lily pad
Must be very nice, I think.
To float and bob in waters blue,
And never dip and never sink.

To sit upon a lily pad
And contemplate the day's travails.
Pretending to be on the ocean,
With unfurled creamy sails.

To sit upon a lily pad
And gaze up at the clouds and sky.
To feel the freedom wrapped around you,
And watch the world pass you by.

To sit upon a lily pad,
Tongue flicking out for flies,
May be the best for Nimmos
But it's something I shan't try.

To sit upon a lily pad
Must be quite a treat.
To sit there completely at your ease,
Folding tightly your legs and feet.

So to sit upon a lily pad
Is something, wouldn't you say?
For now we'll watch from a distance,
But please enjoy your Nimmo Day!

Float by on your lily pad;
I shall cheer you on!
Spin and twirl, turn and swirl,
And gad about on Nimmo's Pond.

Voulez-Vous?: Sidney's Monologue
By Magicalcameron

Voulez-vous jouer un jeu?
Je vous donnerai pour un prix.
Voulez-vous?

Unsuspecting they are.
Yes, spend your money.
Over and over,
keep buying my scratchcards.

My purple top hat on my head,
I'll charm you, yes, I'll charm you.
My torn trousers, my pocket out,
They don't think much of me.

But I'll show them,
Oh yes, I'll show them.
Keep giving me your Neopoints.
You may win once or twice,
I'll sucker you in.
Oh yes, oh yes, I'll sucker you in.

Flicking, my eyes go back and forth,
My bow tie 'round my neck,
I look a gent? I look a gent?
You fool, you fool.

Orrin the Misunderstood Nimmo
By Mamasimios

"No time for dinner," said Captain Tuan
As sluggish Orrin tried to eat.
"You must always put your duties first,
Wait until inventory is complete."

Tired of being called lethargic,
The Nimmo took stock of the ship's hoard,
And not long after a great storm struck,
Saw Hoban falling overboard.

While the crew gave their testimony,
Poor Orrin himself was overlooked
As the only witness to the aftermath,
He might well have seen the vengeful cook.

Though sleepy-looking, he was alert.
While down below, in the ship's hold,
He might have heard Bonju's triumphant cries
As he committed Hoban to the sea's cold.

So why is Orrin considered slow and lazy,
When compared to the rest of the crew?
While they enjoy some needed shore leave,
He runs Exotic Foods in far Shenkuu.

Not languid, this Nimmo is exhausted
From these duties, and though incredible,
Rounding up the Snorkles and other goodies,
Needed each year for the Lunar Festival.

Places That She's Never Been
By Reggieman721

She pulls her hair back carefully
And ties it in a dainty bun,
Affixing gently on the side
A flower, shaded palest plum.

Her skirt and jacket, darkest mauve,
Are sensible and finely pressed.
The Nimmo background seller knows:
To sell, one must be sharply dressed.

She stands behind her spotless desk,
Its surface smooth, reflective glass.
Like crystal ball, it bounces back
An image of her tacked-up map.

The Nimmo turns around to gaze
Upon the lands that stretch and sprawl --
Those places that she's never been,
An empty canvas on her wall.

Amid the makeup on her face,
A wetness shivers in her eyes.
She quickly turns her head away,
And as the door opens, she sighs.

The Nimmo Pond
By Sordid

Atop the dazzling cobalt sheen,
A vision settled, so serene.
A spinning leaf of emerald shade,
Forth spread ripples, slowly fade.
Lily pad doth slowly drift,
Then caught by gust will shiver, swift.

Atop the creature, Nimmo small,
Holds on to structure, must not fall.
He steers the leaf with practised ease,
Avoids the issues, surfs the breeze.
Although the water now doth churn,
He's mastered every switch and turn.

A leaning motion, dodge to right,
Now drifting faster, holding tight.
He is the guide on rapid ride,
The keeper of the spinning tide.
For he alone can reach the end,
By knowing obstacles, each bend.

He knows where best to never steer,
When danger seems fast drawing near.
Alert, wide eyes, no single blink,
All instinct now, no time to think.
Amid the song of breezes' notes,
The Nimmo lily pad swift floats.

The legs are coiled, will he spring?
No hint of what next turn will bring!
A speck of green on silken blue,
The path doth clear as he floats through.
To water's whim he must respond,
The keeper of the Nimmo pond.

The Guardian of Life Magic
By Superpepe

Traversing the Neoquest world,
one is bound to meet many
evil monsters of all sorts,
that hinder the righteous path.

One such evil monster lives
deep inside the Techo Caves,
in a place others term as
simply the Mountain Fortress.

Five strong monsters dwell there,
known as Guardians of Jahbal,
they each specialise in a
different realm of magic.

Leaves and vines entwine his body,
The Guardian of Life Magic,
a green Nimmo who lives as
one with Nature among the trees.

With the forces of nature
at his disposal, he controls
the power to make things grow
or die, if you should offend him.

The Nimmo in the Pond
By Tanikagillam

The water swirls quietly,
Lapping against the stones
Of the mossy edge of the pond
That the Nimmo calls home.

Sitting happily on a lily pad,
Floating under the morning sun.
High above in the clear blue sky,
Rainclouds there are none.

The light shimmers on the surface,
Gleaming off the blue and green.
The sun bathes the pond in warmth
And reflects a glistening sheen.

The Nimmo closes his eyes
And smiles as he inhales the scent.
He has hours to enjoy the feeling,
It is a day very well-spent.

He sits silently for quite a while,
Drifting without a care on the blue.
Hours are days and so they pass,
But he has nothing better to do.

He looks as if in a dream,
He appears to be on his own.
It doesn't bother him, in fact he prefers
To relax in his pond all alone.

Nimmo Cream Cakes
By Tealnova_dragon

Sitting upon the table
Are little puffs of pink,

Dressed with Nimmo smiles
And happy Nimmo eyes.

Sitting upon those cakes,
Are dancing wisps of cream,
With full white sweetness
And full pink flavour.

If your Nimmo would like to celebrate
His own very special day,

Might you invite him to try one,
Just one.

They melt upon your lips,
Dissolving into sugar crystals.

They taste divine,
So won't you join me,

In celebrating Nimmo Day,
Today?

The Nimmo's Meditation
By Yoshifan272

The Nimmo crosses his legs, relaxing.
Feeling the warm sparks
flying, fluttering
around
him.
Feeling untouchable,
floating.
Breaking every law of
earthly gravity.
Contemplating on the wonder
of every classic mystery
of the
universe.
Without a worry, without a
fear.
Never worrying about
what will happen
today.
Or tomorrow.
The Nimmo crosses his legs, relaxing.
Feeling the warm sparks
flying, fluttering
around
him.
Feeling peaceful
of what would
happen
on that
one
special
day.
Nimmo Day.
