Grey Day Special

A Drizzly Grey Day
by cookiez101

On spring’s cusp returns the persistent rain,
winter seemed to be gone, but the mists returned again.
The Daffodils, once sunny, now droop and fray
and I, too, feel that true summer is far away.

Listless and weary, skin a washed sullen fade
mind fuzzy, dreaming of emerald glades.
Energy waning, staring at a flooded street,
through smudged glass you see a group arranged to meet.

Here a Krawk, Aisha, Lupe gather
without raincoats and umbrellas, the downpour no factor.
They frown, shrug, shuffle nervously their feet
and as they chat, the rain falls in a sheet.

They talk of lightning, ruined gardens, and trips forgotten,
even broken favourite pottery and produce bought rotten.
On this Grey Day one can relish the bad and the worse
to help celebrate those who are honest; for being grey, truly, is no curse.

Appreciate the Grey
by ennyra

Once a year, a day comes around,
Where you just wake up in a mood.
Sometimes it's hard to place why,
You have such an attitude.

Then you take a look,
At the calendar on the wall,
And suddenly it all makes sense.
Our annual grey day has come to call.

Some people stay inside,
Locking all their windows and doors.
Others take a walk around,
Trying to stay afloat on all fours.

It's hard not to let the day get you down,
But we all need to stick together.
Once we make it through the day,
We'll all be as free as feathers!

Just remember to appreciate the grey,
We need to take the bad with the good.
When things look bleak, just know,
Tomorrow may bring a better tune!

The Lonely Raindrop
by petpower14156

I contemplate the thin trail of the droplet as it runs down my windowpane,
A steady trajectory ever downward.
It will soon pass down without leaving even an incremental stain,
Only my memory will mark its existence.

Sometimes I wonder if life follows a similar path.
Who will carry our memories on?
Time can be cruel, pitiless and filled with wrath,
By how much will it outlast my memory?

Perhaps that is something the Grey Faerie concluded as well,
And for this reason she holds her PetPet friends close.
The friendships she cultivates despite her pain seem to tell
Of a heart full of kindness but despair.

It is ok to have grey times and sadness in your heart,
To suppress them is to deny your true self.
But our friendships provide solace and help do their part,
To keep life’s memories strong and alive.

The raindrop has gone, the pane holds not a trace
And for that I feel some sort of sadness.
But as my gaze lowers down to the sill’s wooden base,
I see it has now joined a much larger puddle.

Baelia, The Grey Faerie and Tavi, The Clever
by 1337r3st0ck4

Somber, Solemn, Sadness and Sorrow,
Adequate words to describe this faerie.
One who once possessed beautiful wings,
Now shorn, left with broken appendages.

Baelia was this faerie’s name,
Although she sought a new moniker.
Her powers taken by the wicked Jennumara,
Caged, deprived of her wings, and her magic lost.

Baelia on the brink, atop a mountain,
Filled with despair.
All was not lost,
Tavi, the clever Kyrii would be there!

The evil Jennumara had left Baelia,
She was to perish on her lonesome.
Stumbling upon her was the mountain climber Tavi,
However, a magical lock was the faerie’s warden.

Working in tandem and combining their wits,
They tricked the lock, the gloomy faerie now free!
Still to be hunted by her former captor,
She sought a new name.
A name to return her freedom, wings, magic, and her
Serenity, Sweetness, Sincerity and Smile.

If you ever need me simply ask,
And we’ll be at each other’s side.
A friend’s love in which I bask,
A friend in that I confide.

You’re always supporting those around,
And you’re stronger than you believe.
As friends you and I are bound,
Oh, the great things we’ll achieve.

So hold your head up high,
Maintain that composure.
It’s never a permanent goodbye,
Merely a temporary closure.

A Grey Day
by kelly_d60

It’s a sad day when it rains
The sky turns to grey
All feeling of happiness drains
But it’s appropriate for Grey Day.

This is a day to feel glum,
To celebrate what is sad
And not even a cheerful hum
Would make Grey Day glad.

Anyone can feel down
Even the bouncing blumaroo
Can wear a frown
And feel sad through and through.

Today’s for many a tear,
And for drooping ears
Though not for cheers
As sadness is laid bare.

It’s okay to cry
To let your feelings out
Don’t keep your eyes dry
And let that sadness out.

It would be nice to feel glad,
But sometimes things are just sad.

(un)Happy Grey Day
by jackie247

Grey. Like a gloomy storm raining down over Neopia. Shrouded in sadness. Like a fallen faerie without wings that work.

Grey. Like an Un-Valentines plushie, sitting broken-hearted and alone at the Plushie Palace. Like a forgotten pet, abandoned at the pound. Forlorn and dejected.

Grey. Like rolling the silver die while playing Dice-A-Roo, and ending up with a GAME OVER notice. Soul-crushingly grey.

Grey. Like the paint brush that turns smiles to frowns. Looking into sorrowful eyes that long to share their story.

Grey. Like reading Bleak Meals For One, and having no one to discuss the plot with.

Grey. Like a poem that doesn’t rhyme.

Grey
by the_elfy

Today is grey.
Grey is sadness,
loneliness,
depression.

Lack of colour,
lack of light.
In their absence,
we have grey.

Diluted black,
darkened white,
a simple and
forgettable colour.

On this day
we celebrate grey,
a forgotten colour
that lines our lives.

On this day of grey
we begin to appreciate
the colour and happiness
the rest of the year.

Grey to Blue
by screamsting

Tears are gracefully falling off your face
They bury into the ground, creating gold lace
Your grey fur puffs at the sight of beautiful pollen
Flowers reach and touch your nose

Sneezing softly, you rip the flower out of the ground
Why does the world have to be this way?
Happy, without you, your disconnected
Little petpets run around your feet

You look away, curling into yourself, it's not cute
No need to laugh when you have the shadow by the tree
You'd much rather sit in the rain than this sun
When the sunset comes, you just can't help
But smirk just a little

Your friend holds your hands
Grey to Blue means 'I'm happy to be here with you'
You're happy to be here with them, right?

Maybe admit there's some beauty in life
Even with a grey outlook, you can pinpoint that small
Tiny tiny
Bit of glee

Grey Faerie
by cassanthia

There's sadness encasing these halls
drowning out all the wails
Existing tempered silky falls
Tear staining cheeks of gold

Alone in a chamber
Water bracing kneecaps
Like a bug encased in amber
Broken wings, concrete eyelids

Settling down the realm
Fabric brushing against skin and fur
A soft faerie, overwhelm
Gray cheeks brush up, pupils focus

How long have they spent crying here
How long has she spent alone
Magic thrown from her grip
Aching the hearts of many

Break the chains, The rhyme
Though Grey, Her face is beautiful
Though Grey, her eyes shine when she smiles
Though Grey, She clings to life

Not a Bright Day
by weee5067

A uni who lived on a knoll
Went out one day for a stroll
But the weather was bland
A pall over the land
Overall, her trip was quite dull

A scorchio breathing its flame
Is often a terror to tame
But this one’s a joke
No fire, just smoke
I wonder what could be to blame

Up a tall mountain so cold
Two chias were ready to fold
They’d peddled their wares
Books, petpets, and chairs
And yet, not a single thing sold

There’s something in common, you say
For each of these stories today
It’s true, I’ll admit
They weren’t happy one bit
It certainly was a Grey Day!
