Kau Day Special

In Tribute of the Kau
by bunnie_rabbington

How now, Brown Kau
Yes, how do you do?
Are you contemplating a colour change
To Starry, Desert, or Blue?
What ever paintbrush tickles your fancy
You will still always be you.

Two mighty horns standing proudly like a crown
Are an awe to friends and make foes back down
Even-toed hooves that pierce the dry plains
Your stampede prepares the land for upcoming rains.

As you run with the herd and kick up dust
You and your companions feel each other’s trust
This sense of unity holds your spirits together
And it's great to know you’ll all be friends forever

So how now, Brown Kau
What will you do?
Will you stay the way you are
Or become a different hue
Regardless what paintbrush you choose
You will always still be you.

Kauvara the Kau
by kiwigoddesskimmie

Kauvara the cow, a name synonymous with magic
Lost a life of adventure for a fate boringly tragic
She once left Neopia on an exciting mission
At the light faerie's tower to become a magician

Kauvara's family had always run a magical shop
And unfortunately needed a managerial swap
So Kauvara was called upon to fulfil familial duty
Fronting the magic shop with her charisma and beauty

Begrudgingly she adhered to her family's behest
And returned to Neopia determined to give it her best
Kauvara had been away studying magical brewing
A revolving door to mark how well she's been doing

She's got potions, elixirs, revivers, and even some goo
Weapons and wands, some neggs and scrolls too
So whether you are looking for strength or protection
Swing on into her shop and grab the right confection

The Kau of Stealth
by guddi6

Darkness descends over the roofs and eaves
Of the sleeping desert land
The open pavilions are empty and still
Birds doze in turrets turned away from night's chill
And the endless shifting sands

But a dark blur springs from awning to terrace
Her step as light as air
Dark hooves slide over sandy ground
Her tail swishes without a sound
This Kau of Stealth's got flair!

Her lambent eyes are like azure skies
They burn electric-bright
Glimpses of fur, steely-blue
And ebon garb to hide her hue
With a cloak of violet night

They say she creeps into stalls and suites
And seeks treasures scarce and fair
She's cunning with a lockpick and knife
A recluse by day, a thief by night
She'll steal your riches rare

Although the desert locks its doors
And each guard stands watch till dawn
She stalks the richest stores and rooms
An unerring eye for the prettiest heirlooms
And come morning—they're gone!

A Kau Celebration
by smellyfisheyes

A joyous festivity, so merry, oh wow!
Do not hesitate, come join in right now
Today we celebrate the incredible Kau!

Some time off work we can allow
Today the farmers will not plough
This day is only for the Kau!

The Weewoos sing, the Kads will meow
We’ll cheer all day and we will vow,
To always love the wondrous Kau!

It’s time to dance so wipe your brow,
Move you feet - and don’t ask how
Just skip and frolic like a Kau!

I’ll end this poem with a ‘Ciao!’
No time for writing, anyhow
I should be out there, with my Kau!

Candy World and Chocolate Kaus.
by shnicky7

In a land faraway, there lives a man;
Wearing the finest threads and driving a van.
His father owns the land where candy dreams come true,
What is this place? Oh if you only knew.

A land so vast; colours of brown, yellow and green;
A sight to behold, with plants you have never seen.
Jelly leaves, chocolate branches and cotton candy shrubs,
Your eyes will never believe it, no matter how you rub.

What is this magic? How can this be?
OMG THEY EVEN HAVE A RIVER FILLED WITH BUBBLE TEA!
Lollipop fences and gummy gates,
Lemonade swamps, mmm-yum! and.. oh wait!

They even have a Chocolate Kau,
A special one that does not moo, but says 'Ka-Kau!'
Fairy Floss Sheep and Liquorice Snakes,
I hope this is not a dream, oh I don't want to wake.

Please Neopets for making this poem come true;
We really need a Candy World;
And please please please make it blue!

The Mystical Kau
by pukaparade

Every day she wakes
Making her way across creaking boards
Down to her kitchen
To enjoy a magical brew
An inspiring brew
Starting her day properly with a filling meal
Along with her tea
The magical Kau makes her way across the room
There her spellbook rests
Filled with recipes of all sorts of concoctions
What will she make today?
The cogs in her mind spin as she thinks
In the park the other day while she was walking
She overheard a group of young Usuls chatting
Oh how one would love to have beautiful scales
To have wings that would let her reach the skies
So perhaps a morphing potion would be her project
To help those find the shape that suits them
Kauvaura smiled
Satisfaction spreading across her lips as she got to work
Kauvaura the magician
The dream-maker

Legen-dairy Kau
by enkouen

In a herd the Kau do wander
their cloven hooves pad over yonder
with a twinkle in their gaze
as they lean on down to graze
on clover, on sweet summer grasses
and bat their long and lovely lashes.

At night they gather in the pasture
to practice magic they have mastered
with sparks and flashes before their eyes
that dance like golden fireflies (and not the Buzz they so despise!)

Still, their best performance yet
is in song, they’re most adept
For moo-sic is their speciality
as any Kau would most agree
That none resist a chance to croon
and raise their horns up to the moon
to belt aloud, as all Kau do,
and harmoniously bellow: “MOOOOO!”

Transmogrified Kau
by sunnypony03

Tomorrow when the owner finds this
freak of nature, they will hide his face
with newspapers and bring him to the rainbow pool.

But tonight he is brand new and in the pasture
with an empty potion bottle. It is a perfect
summer evening: the moon rising over
Meridell, the wind in the grass. And
as he stares into the sky, there are
twice as many stars as usual.

Myth of the Lunar Kau
by l1lxbunny

Every decade on a midsummer night
Kaus gather with the moon full and bright

Only few have witnessed this wonderful sight
A single Kau will grow wings and take flight

Their coat is said to turn glistening white
Although this change is only finite

Over the moon, basking in the light
The Lunar Kau soars and tumbles with all their might

Leading the way in the sky like a satellite
to a secret place to chant the lunar rite:

Twilight ignites!
Midnight delights!
Daylight incites!
Blessings with the power of moonlight!

Love, good fortune, and delight
for all who witness the Lunar Kau's sacred flight

Once the sun enters the limelight
The Kaus return home, holding each other tight

Until the next Lunar Kau midsummer night.

New Eyes
by ramblinseahorsea

Little angel, angled awkwardly on her new legs, sees the sun for the first time.

Curious Kau eyes flutter, float up to behold her first clouds, cliffs, and caves, the realm around her sprawling beyond her, inviting, inspiring, insisting she come experience it, experience it all.

The nursling Neopet shivers, not from fear, or frigid air, but from furious excitement; she can't stop giggling, heart roaring, mind running with more thoughts and plans and dreams and ideas and wants and questions, questions questions!

Her future, her fantasy, is nought but unknowns to her, but that doesn't stop her, it fills every inch of her with light, with dreams, with utter joy.

The little love, she is not the first Neopet to feel this way, nor will she be the first to plunge Neopia and it's adventures. She is not the first explorer, scholar, fighter, or friend that will walk its roads.

But she is the first Neopet to fill my heart with the sun,

and that is all she needs to be to be priceless. Her firsts, her flights, her failures, fulfillments, fortunes, and freedom, they all will be shared with me.

How amazing, to share so much at her very beginning.
