Solar Flare Addiction
by Roseskorne

"I've traveled far, I've traveled wide,"
My Peophin exclaimed with pride.
"But never, by Fyora's gaze,
Did I expect in all my days
To witness something so bizarre
as those masks at Halloween's bazaar.

But when I saw the one all red,
I had to try her masks of dread.
My owner tried to warn me away,
But I knew that I'd come to stay.
And so it was one afternoon
We chased a villain to the moon.

Kreludor I'd seen before,
But never inside the cafe door.
He thought that I was on the job,
Then gave me food and a brief nod.
We traveled back to Saskia's tent,
And in the end, I'm glad we went."

A Glowing Neopet's Quandary
by Yo_anna

I always sit and wonder,
I always sit and think,
About what would happen,
If I were painted pink.

Would I truly lose my glow?
Will it slowly fade away?
Will it be bright enough,
To shine another day?

If I were painted yellow,
I don't know what I'd do,
Would I even have the nerve,
To be painted a deep blue?

I hope I wouldn't mind,
I hope I wouldn't dread,
If I were painted purple,
Or perhaps even red.

Would I be hunted down,
By avatar hunters galore?
Would I be treated fairly,
Or would I be found a bore?

I have come to my conclusion,
I will do the best I can,
To appreciate myself especially,
Just the way I am.

Tarla's Shop Of Mystery
by Riskydingo

Snugly settled in the snow,
Upon the mountaintop,
Seducing with its secret spoils,
Lies Tarla's Mystery Shop.
Clandestine keeper and her wares
Within the walls await.
She beckons with a knowing smile,
But will you take the bait?

"Try your luck," sly Tarla croons,
Desires you ought sate,
"You could get something rubbish,
Or you could get something great!"
Several sacks of royal blue
Upon the shelves are lined.
You never know just what you'll get,
The treasures you might find.

Tethered by twisted twine,
With questioning marks of gold,
They whisper with the promises
Of secrets yet untold.
Hesitantly choose a bag
And pay the promised fee.
Endless possibilities
Of what inside you'll see.

Gingerly, you claim your cache
And pausing with breath bated
Prepare yourself to look inside,
For the moment you have waited.
Swiftly, soundly, pull the rope,
Remove your item's guise.
"Was it worth it?" Tarla asks,
"The price paid for the prize?"

The Wraiths' Return
by Drazu

It's been just over a year
And, returning from the shadows,
The wraiths, those fiends, are here
Pretending they’ve never gone to those lows,
Yet while they still creep and cause fear
They are a desirable color to own,
And everyone knows.

The first to arise into the light,
Is none other than the Korbat
And while the sun shines
And makes things white
The aura screams darkness, that of a black cat
And when this Neopet disappears in the night
We find that there is nothing to look at

But you can feel the aura,
Feel the trace
See the faint glow of a shadow aurora
And then it lights up, that maniacal face
A darker shade takes on the flora
And cackles as our hearts pick up pace...

At The Kadoatery
by Kaddiez

I have a simple task in mind;
To feed a Kadoatie.
Though it has gotten me in a bind,
As I’m short on NP.

To themselves, one would think --
Why feed such a pest?
Fluffy, cute, round, and pink,
But cry without a rest.

Out of the kindness of my heart,
An answer plain to see.
Though the avatar is a start,
And so is the trophy.

And many would agree,
As most Kadoaties are fed,
But there are none left for me,
Except the expensive ones I dread.

I wait for them to become hungry,
Then act quick on my feet.
By the time I return in a hurry,
I know I am at a defeat.

It’s so hard to feed just one,
With all these Neopians here.
Do they think this is fun,
To toil over a Kadoatie’s meal?

One must know when at a loss;
I leave the Kadoatery pale and grey.
Return to feed the spare lots,
Scared to speak how much I paid.
