The Poem Inside You
Some people delight in writing,
all lyrics, articles, and prose.
My favourite choice would be the poem;
Within a poem, anything goes.
Your poem can be happy, a delightful tune,
A story about how the sun shines just right,
A rhyme about a beautiful flower that grew,
Or even your favourite Petpet Spotlight!
Your poem can be sad, convey your feelings,
About the last time you lost a friend,
How the Pant Devil came and stole your item,
Or how you couldn't play Neopets this weekend.
Your poem can be a story about whatever you wish,
About the day your Neopet had or one they didn't,
How they fought back Sloth or saved Maraqua,
Or helped in the Faerie's Ruin plot.
Your Poem can have Lupes, Grarrls, or Korbats;
Don't forget a ditty about the Moehogs too.
Every pet loves to have a rhyme about them written,
Every Poetry Day brings adventures anew.
Poetry is inside everyone, bring it to the surface,
Neopia waits for your talents to emerge.
Don't be afraid, get out there and write!
You even get a prize for your poetry urge!
The Mystical Hissi Knight
Slither and thither through lands unexplored
Forests cloaked in deep-fallen night
Through groves and glades unseen before
Crusades the Mystical Hissi Knight.
Green scales glisten beneath polished cuirass,
Sable cape billows in wan light.
Eyes gleam, and dare a foe to challenge
The prowess of the Hissi Knight.
His purpose, his beck and call; unknown
(Although we do hope it's for the right)
Eternally shrouded in mystery
Lies the Mystical Hissi Knight.
A blink of an eye, an averted glance,
And then he's gone from sight,
Melting back to shade and foliage
Hides the enigmatic Hissi Knight.
His sword is kept sharpened and honed;
The preparations for some distant fight
Unseen and unknown, forever a mystery
Is the Mystical Hissi Knight.
1,400 Poets go to Mystery Island
Once all the poets from all of the lands
Went on a trip to see foreign sands.
To Mystery Island away did they go,
Each one with a quill and some paper in tow.
First to the beaches did the masses abound,
Alas to no avail; inspiration not found.
Oh, but the beaches were crowded that day,
Poets and quills sprouting every which way!
Then a quick tour of the Island seemed nice;
Some got inspired; some wished for creamed ice.
The JubJub who pulled them, wouldn't you know it,
Nearly passed out from the weight of the poets.
Perhaps they could train at the school on the Island,
A quick workout to balance food they demanded.
Master Techo quite nearly fell out of his throne,
"Quick, make a class; think of all the codestones!"
The trip was quite the Island success;
They bought Tiki souvenirs and wore island dress,
But like all things good, even this had to end...
What better vacation than one made with friends?
The End of the Festival
Another year of Negg-hunting closes,
And we wave sadly good-bye to Kari.
Now she packs back up for the Neggery,
To relieve her dear apprentice faerie.
And as she does, we fondly reminisce
Of building booths and polka-dotted Neggs,
Of traipsing from the top of mountain high
To ocean deep, and empty plastic Neggs.
This year, Kari, you sent us far and wide,
And, 'lo, Kari -- you sent us every day!
Tirelessly, we hunted all those Neggs,
Ignoring the obstacles in our way.
As a whole, we tried to come together.
We looked in Lost Desert; we looked in Shenkuu.
Neopians made their journeys each morn,
From the Isle of Krawk to Isle of Roo.
And dear Kari, honest, we did have some fun
With Neggs in Kiko Lake and ones in Brightvale.
Those empty plastic Neggs that we gathered
But woe! Alas! It was to no avail.
Though we did our best and hunted each day,
Neopia's hunt shall thus go unsung.
We did not find five million Neggs; instead
Of lovely background, we win pizza dung!
Layton Vickles, Captain Extraordinaire
When players troop to the field to play
a round of Yooyuball, you may
see purple pennants flying high
for a certain captain slithering by
as, through the crowd, a loud cheer trickles
down to the ear of Layton Vickles.
The rest of the team do get their due,
but a number of eyes are solely glued
to the sinuous form of Vickles's plays,
as trap after nifty trap he lays
for unwary opponents; they tumble and fall,
and Vickles retrieves the Yooyuball.
A quick twist here, a dart, and then
the Darigan team has scored again!
His team plays up the power he lacks,
knowing full well he's got their backs.
His fakes and feints around the field
have seen formidable teams yield
the trophy to the Citadel
as gleeful fans holler and yell.
They've done it once, they'll do it twice;
To the top podium they will rise,
with Layton Vickles at the head --
what other prediction can be made?
