PEOPHIN DAY SPECIAL

Venuquin's Call
By Alyndasgallery

While gentle winds cause sands to dance,
Along a distant beach.
With rocking motion back and forth,
Ocean stretches out of reach.

When sailors rest their weary bones,
In taverns far and wide.
Great mysteries and tales to share,
From across the great divide.

What stories that these fellows tell
Of adventure and surprise.
There is just one, a favourite tale
Of a Peophin, so wise.

Her name was Venuquin, they said,
A majestic sight to see.
Her visits few and far between,
Only seen by those in need.

One sailor stood and tapped his pipe,
And told of a great storm.
The crew were wet and very tired,
Sailors huddled to keep warm.

A damaged boat they could not mend,
Heavy hearts were had by all.
They hoped and wished for rescue,
When they heard Venuquin's Call.

With a gentle nod and a mere splash,
The Peophin did appear.
Threw back her mane and called again,
"Dear sailors, do not fear."

A flick of a tail and that was that,
Venuquin swam away.
The sailors slumped with gloom and cried,
Faces showing their dismay.

Until they heard a sound familiar,
And could not believe their eyes.
For she was back with rescue boats,
Indeed, she was so wise.

The old sailor paused and gave a stretch,
Arms reaching for the sky.
"My only regret from that fateful day,
Was not saying goodbye."

Now sailors know when they're at sea,
And come into trouble at all.
If they listen very carefully,
They might hear Venuquin's call.

My Starry Peophin
By August_elf6

Walking down a summer's road,
I found upon my way,
A starry little Peophin
To brighten up my day.

Said he, "I have a starry mane
That shines like kingly gold,
A glossy sheen, a lovely tail,
And a purely noble soul."

We chatted for a little while
Until we reached the shore,
And so he jumped into the sea
And walked with me no more.

I walk upon the shore at night,
To search for my old friend,
All I see are waves and stars,
I hope he'll come again.

Soon when I walk upon that road,
He'll come along again,
To chat and walk and be with me,
My starry Peophin.

Meeting My Friend the Peophin
By x_soranelle_x

In my youth, we wandered well
To the vast expanse of sea,
Always just the two of us -
My Uni friend and me

One night I rode her truly there,
But something had gone wrong
She found the sea-bank - tossed her head,
And wailed in Uni song

So off came I, and strode on fast
To mark what was her fear,
Stubbornly, she followed me
Scared that I'd gone near

Among the waves - know my shock!
I saw a Uni's face,
Emerged in sea, and not in sky -
And knowing perfect grace

I saw no horn upon her head,
Jewels embracing her brow
A Maraquan tail lashed into the air,
A Peophin they call them now

The creature she laughed and neared us both,
"Cousin!" she gleefully called
"Come closer, friends - look here at me!
A stranger to the surface world!"

Approach she did my Uni-friend,
Laughing now as well,
"Now listen here, cousin dear -
It is clear you've much to tell!"

The Peophin told of beasts,
A rainbow whirl of colors,
A mighty fortress and kingly Koi,
Of finned sisters and brothers

And so we stood on ocean's end,
And talked the time away
The sea and sky cousins gave farewells,
To meet another day

So remember well this tale I told
Of our siblings in the sea,
I know a particular Peophin
Who is truly dear to me.

Lustra the Golden Peophin
By Songful

Watch for me beyond the tides
Where waves ride high and free;
Look toward the setting sun
Where gold glints on the sea.

And in the early dawn keep watch
With loyalty profound;
As morning sun from the sky rides
Above the waves unbound.

But wait and see, with courage kept
When stars frisk on the shore;
Above the moon, beyond the clouds
A shimmer taking soar.

And will you wait and will you watch
Amid the morning frost?
When skies are bare and echoes howl
Among the winds storm-tossed?

And if your longing holds its heart
When dreams no longer reach;
Look above, against the storm
Toward the night-filled beach.

For then your yearnings will fly safe
And hope again will bloom;
As on the brimming seas I come
To clear away the gloom.

Peophin Day
By Silver_spiderlilies

A flash of blue among the waves
Buried beneath liquid graves
A rearing shape 'gainst gentian sky
In sapphire rushes this being does fly

Behold!

The majestic Peophin leaps in clean swift stroke
Silver beads embellish its lush sleek cloak
Nostrils flare, wide and foam-rimmed
Dewy eyes, set in countenance grim
Cloven hooves flexing, gleaming black
Magnificent jaws baring ivory teeth-slack
With a frivolous toss of its sable-tressed head
The Peophin sinks to the cushy sea bed

A flash of blue among the waves
Buried beneath liquid graves
A rearing shape 'gainst gentian sky
In sapphire rushes this being does fly

Thank thine Faeries, thank Fyora true
For thou hath seen, oh wonders great
As sure as the azure vast sea is blue
Thou hath been blessed by Peophins of late
And now when thou rides on mediocre horse
Recall the titanic Peophin with remorse
For far away in mystical seas
Peophins dive among jeweled coral trees
