The Abandoned Sanatorium
By 1plus2plus2plus1

Back in the farthest reach of the woods,
Through the swamps and the darkening trees,
There's a crumbling building
With windows all barred,
And shutters that flap in the breeze.

"Meepit Oaks," the sign reads. "A restful place."
It stands silent and still as the grave.
Oh, woe! That we've come here far too late,
There's nobody left now to save!

An old diary tells of the fate that befell
Janitor, doctor and nurse;
They trusted a potion to keep patients calm,
A blessing that turned to a curse.

As the nights dragged on, their unrest grew
Into madness and violence and strife.
Till at last the brave Doctor cried,
"One of them's loose!
Lucy, Miles, run for your life!"

But his warning came too late for them, and alas,
The inmates sprang on them at once.
They dragged them away to the cells far below,
And then left for more victims to hunt.

That was full ten years ago now, they say.
The staff hasn't been heard from since -
Save for the tales of a strange purple flower,
That grows without light in the mist.

"Meepit Oaks," the sign reads. "A restful place."
It stands silent and still as the grave.
Oh, woe! That we've come here far too late,
There's nobody left now to save!

A Hissi's Song
By Crepusculum_extraho

Brush of scales,
Flap of wings,
In the distance,
A Hissi sings.

Eyes that glow,
In the night,
To a few,
A scene of fright.

Do your senses
Deceive your mind,
For all I see
Is something kind.

Brush of scales,
Flap of wings,
In the distance,
A Hissi sings.

In that voice,
That fateful song,
I see the past,
A time long gone.

I see the moon,
A shadow flies,
On those wings,
A Hissi cries.

I sigh upon,
Those Hissi wings,
And dream to hear,
As it sings,
To send me visions
Of its song,
And always hear it,
Forever long.

The Haunted House
By 0_viento_0

It is in the darkness of the night
When the shadows are long and deep
When the Brain Tree sits alone
And Neopia is asleep

When the moon it shines a-brightly
And the thunder growls so loud
The wind cries terrible secrets
Hidden beneath the darkening clouds

From the haunted house upon the hill
Strange noises echo 'round
Screams and cries and moans;
The rain lashes at the scar-torn ground

The shadows leer and whisper things;
Secrets of the past
The steps to the door show footprints:
Footprints of those who didn't last

A secret lies within the house
Of horror and despair
The remains of those who didn't choose
But forever remain there

For those who strayed from the road
And up the ghostly trail
Were gone within the shadows;
At night you hear their ghostly wails

So when you visit the Haunted Woods
Go have a look around
But remember those who strayed away
The ones they never found

Do you believe in ghosts?
Go explore the house on the hill
Peer through the haunted doorway
And then, I think, you will.

Lies of the Court Dancer
By Elvish_phoenix

her music is the morning's birth
as light gavottes across the earth
the sun bestows its golden mirth
as vestiges of night decline

libretto blessed by dawn's embrace
melody flows with gentle grace
evil appears so out of place
it hides beneath faux rapture's shine

she pirouettes across the dawn
now perched upon the wings of song
yet her lie can't survive for long
discordance weaves through her anthem

for here in music's sweet sanctum
to dark laments her song succumbs
The Dancer knows who she'll become
when night reveals its requiem

Shenkuu, Land of Mystery
By Emperor_seth

Shenkuu, a land of mystery
Of highest peaks and waterfalls
Where red pagodas slumber deep
And secrets lurk between the walls.

Shenkuu, where ne'er a shadow sleeps,
And through the mists a danger creeps.
What dangers unknown live to sneak
Towards weary travelers in their sleep.

Shenkuu, when will your montains live
With beauty freely yours to give
And unknown terrors do not lurk
And all together as one work?

One day, when all the shadows there,
Are banished to the sea and air
We will come and live in peace,
And darken shadow threats will cease.

So that is Shenkuu,
Of which I dream.
Where blades do not shimmer,
Bite, and gleam.
