MYNCI DAY SPECIAL
The Mynci's Quandry
The twinkling stars by Kreludor
Gaze kindly, nightly, bright
Oh! Would that I could join them there
Count Jacko, take not flight!
If only for one night could I
Though wingless, shining fly
Painted starry-eyed and nosed
In Neopia's fair sky.
But the sky is really far too high
In my land-locked skin.
Into the sea I'd gladly dive
If I had but a fin.
So Maraquan brush, come thence to me
And give me thy pink glow.
Webbed feet and scales I long to feel
(And not to swim so slow).
But perhaps aboard, ye brave mateys,
I'd truly find my niche.
Ahoy! Avast! Away I'll sail!
With pirate's treasure I'd be rich.
Though if I sailed far east, I fear
I'd change my life's ambition.
Leave my eye patch; don a robe.
I would have no inhibition.
For Royal seems the way to live
And royally I'd blush
Ere to think of an eye patch since
I'd used my new paint brush.
But currant red and flexible
Gelatinous, I'd say
Would be a lovely way to be
Though I'd keep hunger at bay.
Yes, I could be a jelly pet
With the help of a lab ray
But homeless - there's no world of jelly
Or it's there that I would stay.
So Fountain Faerie, listen now
Your word is my command.
I'll be Orange - how magnificent!
Brightest in the land.
But what's that you say? A quest for me?
You certainly did come fast!
But as for me... I think I'll stay
A Blue Mynci to the last.
Royal Mynci's Dance
Rustling of silken folds
Deft flick of colorful fan
Lost legend left untold
Fragrant wafts of jasmine
Watch the fluid movement
Balance, poise, and grace
Quickened steps with talent
Delicate painted face
Effortless ballet across the ground
Swift and smooth as summer breeze
Unique, special, rarely found
To dance the clouds with such ease
Join the swirling kimonos
Flash your own fan and prance
Only the royal Mynci knows
When it comes to dance.
Mynci of the night macabre
when sullen hearts beat not, but throb
and wind relays the scream and sob
of those who chose to take their chances
How did you incite in them
the misery that didn't stem
from common sense you now condemn
in those who mock the goblin dances
Magic is afoot tonight
black as your cloak, black as your plight
Your bretheren have taken flight
and bide their time among high branches
Mynci on this night of wails
eyes of newt and shells of snails
Mynci logic sorely fails
to cheer up your morbid prances
Why is it you think them fickle?
Fun for you's not worth a nickel
I hope that's a rubber sickle
not one of your evil lances
Never mind, I'm on my way
home till my window shows me day
You're just not in the mood to play
and I grow scared of your advances...
The Jungle of the Mynci
Silent, in the dappled light
The wary travellers go
Eyes dart from left to right
From a terror they do not know.
Every footfall like a hammer
A blow to sodden ground
While phantom figures of unknown manner
Are hidden in trees that surround.
There! A gleam of staring eyes
And here, a branch hits the floor
A whispered menace overhead flies
The explorers can take it no more.
With a yell, they drop their packs
And racing, leave the wood
For what they find intelligence lacks
Pure terror can sometimes be good.
After the silence, there comes laughter
A merry, unified sound
Larger come first, the smallest come after
The Myncies fall soft on the ground.
Inspecting the packs, they take what they will
And now donning strange hats and shoes
Back to their homes to guzzle their fill
On the poor little explorer's foods.
Arnold, the Malicious Mynci
Some dimming lights, an empty stall
The chilling vendor's voice does call.
Bored and unimpressed you roam
Might as well pack up, go home.
Until a whisper, hoarse and sly
Tempts as you hurry by.
In pinstriped vest you'll see him stand,
Heavy mallet clutched in hand.
He beckons with a bony claw,
"Come on in, and test you score!
"Send the ball high up scales' length
The true challenge - test your strength."
Devious grin in narrowed eye
He takes your gold, gives you a try
And as you lift the mallet's weight
He snidely murmurs, "Meet your fate."
The hammer crashes with a blow
Shooting up, the ball will go!
The Mynci watches with disgust
He laughs, "Your strength, you cannot trust."
Arnold pockets gleaming gold,
"Game over," you are briskly told.
He holds your prize in scruffy tail
"What is this junk?" you loudly wail.
He shoves it at you, sends you packing
Your prize - like strength - seems sorely lacking.
