You walk along the hard-packed dirt road,
Relieved to have finally arrived.
The journey to the kingdom of Meridell
Was further away than you'd realized.

You trudge toward your ultimate destination;
Merifoods, the rustic-looking food stall.
You step up to it eyeing the selection,
And see the selection is quite small.

You were hoping for a Draik egg,
A yellow one, perhaps, or maybe green.
You're wanting to try and hatch it;
How long has it been since an egg's been seen?

You wait a little longer, hoping to get lucky,
When suddenly, you spot what you've been looking for!
A perfect, smooth, speckled Blue Draik Egg.
You pay for your new treasure and head for the door.

Now it's off to the mysterious Draik Nest
With your wonderful new treasure.
Never in your life have you felt
This much anticipation and pleasure!

Soon you'll have a lovely new Draik,
So energetic, spunky, and fun.
You grin widely as you realize
Your exciting adventure has just begun!

The Mutant Draik

The Mutant Draik

There are Draiks Pink, Purple, and Yellow too,
And Fire, and Grey, and Gold, and Blue,
Pretty ones you’ll find -- Maraquan, Faerie,
And cute ones too, like soft Plushie. 

But here’s one who’ll put some fear in you:
The creeping Mutant Draik says, “Boo.”
Here’s a creature to get your adrenaline going,
Those cruel claws, those eyes cold and knowing.

His tail’s a weapon, his breath pure erosion,
No-one messes with this winged poison --
One look and the wise back off and run,
Because the Mutant Draik is out for some fun.

So return to your homes, Neopians big and small,
Close windows, lock doors, barricade the hall,
The Mutant Draik is on the prowl, beware his fury,
Heed our advice, get home in a hurry! 

His wings beat with a flurry and a whistle,
His wicked fangs clack, his scales are thistle, 
His carrion call rings under the red moon,
And from a distance, he spots you, and mutters, “Soon.”

The Trials of Valrigard

Beneath the castle, secrets keep,
and in the dungeons, justice sleeps.
His reputation fell to ruin,
truth and mercy mere illusion.

In the dark, he lay in chains;
the world above seemed far away.
Locked within the shadowy stone,
fettered, broken and alone.

Yet there is light amid the dark;
of hope, there's still the faintest spark.
And Valrigard will rise anew
to give the tormentors their due.

Each day, he plots his great jailbreak:
no guard will stop this daring Draik.
The clash of steel rings clear and bright,
as he battles for what is right.

Beneath the castle, secrets keep, 
but the wronged will never sleep. 
Imprisoned without any just cause
soon to grasp vengeance in his claws.

The Wandering Draik

It’s the day of the Draik –
The day he was born,
With celebrations ahead,
And robes, linen to don.

The young Draik sneaked
Out of his Meridell castle,
“It won’t take long,
I won’t cause a hassle.” 

He glided with the wind,
Wandering west,
Passing by festivities, 
Filled with so much zest!

He landed softly on rocks,
Overlooking his favourite bay, 
How does it feel,
To stray?

The Royal Draik

Jewels shine bright.  
Diamonds and pearls, 
Sparkling in the light. 

Her purple scales,
Rich clouds swell. 
She spins in the air,
As she weaves her spell.

Her beauty radiates, 
From her very core.

Of myth and lore. 

She sings of rain, 
She moves with grace. 
Floating effortlessly,
A smile upon her face.

The royal draik,
Her dreams of high.
Regal and intelligent,
Queen of the sky.

My Precious Pal: A Delightful New Draik

I'm walking in fine Meridell
When I sight a shop so swell.
Medieval edibles it sells.
Delicious marvels, I can tell.

Among a Chunky Meaty Stew
And Chokato Petpet Food,
There lies a ware sure to entice.
A Darigan Draik Egg! How nice!

I've always been the wealthy sort—
Of money I'm never short.
I buy the egg since I'm aware
Of a most intriguing lair.

To the Draik's Nest I depart!
I walk to the very heart
Of this place so I can make
A delightful, brand-new Draik!

My rad friend hatches, breathing fire.
His appearance I admire.
We quickly become great friends.
Our sweet joy will never end.

Atop his back, I fly to places
Very awesome. My heart races!
We form such a solid bond.
Of my friend l I'm very fond!

My pal will perpetually
Bring jubilance eternally.
I know I made a wondrous choice.
With my new pal I rejoice.

Valrigard the Draik

A valiant knight with noble quest,
Valridgard's in quite a pickle.
He's been imprisoned without inquest,
But he's stolen not even a nickel.

His sword goes *swish* and his wings do fly
As he tries to make his escape.
He longs to return to the blue, blue sky
And see the Meridellian landscape.

"Halt!" yells the Grarrl. "You cannot leave!"
But Valrigard lifts up his sword.
He swings with no intent to deceive;
The guard turns back without a word.

Valrigard is quite intent,
The Draik will someday soon break free.
But when he finally makes his descent,
Will he still recognize the land that he'll see?

The Draik Den

A serrated tail, and arching wings,
Laid out amongst his keep,
Adrift the snoring sounds ring
A rumble as he sleeps.

So careful would her footsteps tread,
All her efforts not to shake,
For the smallest stifled sound she'd dread,
Would stir the mighty beast awake.

Fluttered light reflects his scales,
Scarcely does it filter in
His cavern piled with treasured details,
That braver pets daren't win.

Though just beneath his fearsome claws,
Lies the treasure that she seeks,
And with quick work of wily paws,
She steals it clean with fine technique.

But just as she turns, her prize drawn,
Her heart pounds with nervous rush,
When the dragon wakes to find it's gone,
His precious Judge Hog Collector's Plush!

Quick, the beast chased his sister around,
They stomp and holler the house awake,
For the mischievous Meerca, just this one round,
Bested Snookums, the mighty little Draik.

Celebrating Draik Day

On the 9th day of Gathering,
we celebrate the Draik.
Put up the streamers and balloons,
and enjoy a slice of cake.

For seventeen years ago
on this very day,
the Draik came into existence
so today is their birthday.

Stop by their native land,
the delightful Meridell.
While you're there, pick up
a Draik Egg and cherish it well.

Take your shiny new egg
to the Draiks' Nest.
The location is secret, though,
so put your knowledge to the test.

No matter how you decide 
to honor Draiks on their day,
give it your style and flair,
and celebrate in your own way.

The Destiny of the Draik

If you're not cautious, you'll might awake
That fearful creature, the mighty Draik
It rests in a cave that was once a home
Of happy faeries and crafty gnomes 

The once happy place is now a grave
Although it's inhabitants fought back so brave
As a silent tomb it lies in shades
Never forgetting how the Draik invades

One day the light is sure to return
The gnomes and faeries will their home back earn
The Draik will just have to learn to share
And to not steal land just to make their lair

Could it be that they'd might get along
And forget what the other might ever did wrong
They could all use some joy and love and peace
Then all sadness and anger will to exist cease

Evening Draik Wardrobe

The night is cool, the stars are bright.
The moon hangs in the sky.
Your Draik is melancholy now.
She sighs, and sighs, and sighs.

She wishes she could join those stars
And sparkle, glow and shine.
She wants to join their majesty,
So lovely and sublime.

She doesn’t know you have a gift
To make her dream come true.
You have an outfit she will love,
So gorgeous in its hue.

It’s called the Evening Draik costume,
And brilliant is its guise.
It’s simply stunning, glorious,
And dazzling to the eye.

The Dress is colored darkest blue
To mirror nighttime’s sky.
A belt of sparkling silver stars
Are like the ones up high.

The Shoes are darkest blue as well,
And trimmed with sapphire beads.
They sparkle underneath the moon,
A splendid sight indeed.

The Wig is dressed with ribbons blue,
So glossy, large and fine.
They form a flower on the head,
A sight that is divine.

And finally, the Jewellery,
A locket made of gold
That wraps around your pet Draik’s neck,
A look so chic and bold.

You give the outfit to your Draik,
And merrily observe
Your Draik jump up and down with joy.
This outfit, she deserves!

She dresses in the clothes with haste,
And twirls with such delight.
She matches now the midnight sky.
She sparkles like the night!

No longer is she dismal, glum.
She smiles with joy and glee.
She dances in her brand new shoes.
She’s such a sight to see!

She quite deserves this gaiety!
She’s happy and content!
This outfit was an awesome gift,
The finest you can get!

King Terask

On this crisp day of Gathering,
I shudder at just the thought:
What would have happened to all,
If Rohane and Terask had not fought?

A ferocious, fearsome red dragon,
Who overpowered Fyora for the throne.
Locking her away in her own castle,
He took Faerieialnd as his own.

If It were not for our brave heroes,
Rohane, Mipsy, Talinia and Velm,
I am not certain if it would by Fyora,
Or Terask at Faerieland’s helm.

As his true power was unleashed,
What a sight Terask was to behold.
But, with teamwork among our four,
Terask’s defeat was foretold.
 
While I ponder this on Draik Day,
I do sometimes forget a crucial fact:
Terask was only a computer virus,
Whose existence is purely abstract.

With A Draik As Your Partner

Bright eyes and strong wings break through the shell.
With a Draik as your friend, you’ll have a partner indeed,
They can fly through the sky with incredible speed!

With loyalty unmatched and courage abound,

Train them for battle or read them a book,
Draiks can look fantastic with a customized look!

Their eggs can be pricey but they’re well worth the cost,
Paint them many colors; Wraith, Ghost, Royal, or Snow covered in frost.

Get yourself a Draik, you cannot go wrong!

At the Wheel of Knowledge, another Draik waits,
To grant you some wisdom; go spin to test your fate!
The wisest thing you can do is go get an egg now,

Draik day

I hate my birthday,
I don't like being old.
I'm the rarest Draik,
Well, that's what I've been told. 

I was born 200 years 
To this day
And each year my family visits me
"Go Away" I wish I could say...

I have 60 daughters
and 120 sons
The amount of presents?
I get tonnes!

My grandkids are sneaky
Did I mention I have 203?
They hide behind my tail,
and yell 'surprise' to scare me.

The great grandkids are the worst
With their technology
They say "happy birthday"
and then don't speak to me.

The cake is always massive
I only get one slice
But after we eat I give the family
An important piece of advice


"Eat only one piece
because too much could make you sick
To be as old as me
Just follow my little trick"

The Draik Knight of Meridell

Valigard was once a brave noble knight
For King Skarl he didn’t fear putting up a fight
Meridell Castle is where he loyally served 
Being sent to the dungeons he didn’t deserve

Wrongly accused of a terrible crime
Valigard knew he must escape in good time
Tall blue Draik with quite some brute strength
To be free of this dungeon he’d go to great lengths

Stealing a great red sword he took off at once
Using stealth and smarts while the guards were at lunch
He crept through the corridors as quiet as could be 
Putting out the candles so no one would see

Time rapidly just tick ticked away
He realized that it was now time to slay
Standing tall and brave he took off in a hurry
Ready to feel freedom instead of fury

Changes

First, I recall emerging
from a yellow shell 
and hearing wails and 
squeals of 
other hatched Draiks
as clear as a bell
I was painted a few days later
at the Rainbow Pool
I forgot which paint brush
my owner used but I 
remember looking quite cool
An accident changed me again
for a while, I was an orange Koi
I missed flying around with ease,
but swimming brought me joy
Alas, my owner found the right potion
in her Deposit Box one fine day
A Draik I was morphed back into
and I intend to stay this way!
