Open letter to Neopets

Dear, loved Neopets, here I am today
To write a poem about your birthday;
Twenty years passed, and they flew away
through plots, activities and games to play.

I started playing during year eight,
And everything to me seemed great!
I actually believed when my pet said
He wanted more toys, for them I paid.

You helped me cuddling my inner child,
And thanks to unconverted pets I smiled.
When customisation grabbed the spotlight,
Restocking in clothing shops was a real fight.

Back in the day, Draiks and Krawks were rare
Trying to own any of them was a big nightmare.
On the boards, I met some people I can call friends
And I still hear some of them often on weekends.

You let me practice my writing skills,
And every piece published got me frills.
My English improved thanks to you,
Even with poetry I broke through!

So, I wish you twenty more years to come,
Full of surprises, saving us from boredom.
Hoping for new lands, plots and wars!

Who would have thought?
We've experienced plenty
Joy and tears has it brought

The site's been around
From childhood to adult life
I still remember the feeling of being astound
When finding the site in my teenager strife

Because it first and foremost has been like a shelter to me
A place I'd find friends and creativity
When I need a break and let my mind wander free
I'll always log on to the festivity

Because Neopets is a party
That will never grow old
My pets welcome me hearty
And they never act cold

So thank you for keeping our nostalgia alive
Changes been made, and changes will come
Still many of us for years and years thrive
Now let's celebrate to the beat of the drum!

If it's a friend you needed to get through,
Your Neopet is always there for you!

There are so many great species to choose:
Kaus and Unis and Kougras and Shoyrus.

They come in every color you can dream,
From the subdued hues to outfits so extreme.

A color for each of the visitable lands,
From Maraqua's waters to the Lost Desert's sands.

Neopia has so many places to explore,
Each with their own characters and lore.

Meridell's wars left the users divided,
Neopet v2 had them feeling misguided.

The battles in Maraqua were rough,
Sloth's return had puzzles so tough.

The portal to Altador led somewhere new,
On the other side of the world with Shenkuu.

So many great events in Neopia's history,
What will come next is always a mystery.

Although many great things occur annually too,
With AAA and Granny and of course the Yooyus.

You could also participate in a faerie's quest,
To help Jhudora or Illusen prove they're the best.

Neopia's backbone has always been its games,
The many tests of your reflexes or brains.

There's never a boring moment to be had,
Neopets will always cheer you up when you're sad.

The characters of Neopia are also strong,
Fyora and Hanso stand out from the throng.

And of course Dr. Sloth will not be forgotten,
With his schemes so evil and gains ill-gotten.

Many of Neopia's many activities,
Allow you to flex your creativity.

Whether art or writing is your forte,
You can put your works on display.

But you could also dress your Neopets up,
With beautiful clothes and wigs and makeup.

Neopia has something for everyone,
No matter what, you're never done!

Neopets has had 20 years of cheer,
And here's to another 20 fun years!

My Neopets Dream

I had a dream where everything
I wanted was achieved.
I had five thousand avatars,
A number I believed.

I also had so many pets
Of unconverted style.
They sparkled with such colors bright.
They glistened and beguiled.

I won at every game I played.
I garnered trophies too.
I had a million Neofriends
Whose loyalty was true.

I knew the staffers closely, and
We shared so many jokes.
They gave me lots of Neopoints
Whenever I went broke.

The really startling thing to me
When I awoke at dawn?
I didn't rue my silly dream.
I wasn't sad or wan.

The real life website is to me
Much better than my dreams.
I like the daily challenges,
As hard as they do seem.

I like to send in poetry
That's judged by Neo staff.
I read the Editorial,
So fun it makes me laugh.

I'm satisfied with all my pets,
And all my avvies too.
I like my gaming trophies; they
Were so hard to accrue.

I like the possibility
That plots might be revealed.
The staff is highly secretive,
And information's sealed.

So yes, the real life Neo is
Much better than my dreams.
The real life site is marvelous,
So gorgeous and supreme!

In the twenty years since everything began,
Forty one plot events have taken place,
Fifty five types of Neopets were befriended
And twenty Neopian worlds were embraced.

We’ve teamed up with DoN twenty two times,
While discovering several hundred avatars.
We survived all updates and maintenance,
And came out converted with a new sidebar!

We’ve grown so much since we’ve started;
Some on and off, some through and through,
But looking back on the good times we had
Makes the present feel fuller, tried and true.

Neopia continues to be a welcoming world
On the Neoboards or with our guildmates.
Some prefer to play solitary but still here—
A place to escape to for nostalgia’s sake.

Neofriends become our Neofamilies, and
What we have sets us apart from the rest.

O thou site which has brought unto many much joy,
 
in days of yore we sought the toil of your labor to employ. 

Whilst we traded, played and rambled around Neopia like it twas a new toy, 

we didst no see the efforts and sacrifice put in to your grand creation, which many sought to destroy.

Through the ages you have ever faithful stood, changing and shifting to survive the onslaught of time as best as you could.

You serve as an exemplary example of the greater good, serving as the light, a beacon of our childhood.

Oh Neopets to thee I offer praise, for on afternoons and dreary nights the wonders of your site did to the hopes of many didst surely raise.

Pets, rarities, and your world had surely encaptivated the throngs of your followers whom you certainly did amaze.

I offer to thee thanks and gratitude for the joy you had brought me in times past, for your memories for an eternity shall last.

And now I bid thee a farewell in this present day as years rush on hurriedly fast, for the moments which shall in my heart remain steadfast.

From the Virtupets station and Dr. Sloth;
And the Battle for Meridell that was fought;
To Legends and Letters which can't be forgot!
Neopia and all the joy it brings can not be bought,
a place we adore - not just a forethought.

A glorious celebration, twenty years have gone by:
Let the Korbats, Pteris, Shoyru and confetti fly!
Get the cake ready - no question why;
Sing a birthday song, a joyous outcry!
Who knows what the future brings, the passage of time...

Neopets Through the Ages

Pay attention, young pets, to the story of Neopets.
What a wacky adventure, with Giant Omelettes!
I would venture to say that without TNT,
There would be no Key Quest, and no Money Tree.

None of us would have found the Lost Desert, or fought
In the Battle for Meridell, cheered as we sought
To beat Scarblade and Benny with Isca and Garin,
Or admire as Hannah, then Gilly, were darin’.

When the pets were converted, WE WERE NOT PREPARED.
Dr. Sloth’s return started, and though we were scared,
We helped Gorix, Cylara, and Scout save the day,
And when Sloth and his slaves fled, we shouted, “Hooray!”

Then the Wise Gnorbu told Clara and Roxton III,
“Find the Ancients’ old Atlas! Maybe take Jordie.”
So, with Roxton and Clara, we discovered Moltara,
And we vanquished the Question Curse cast by Quizara.

When the Faeries were ruined, well, Hanso and Brynn,
A sly thief and a captain, to Xandra’s chagrin,
Were exactly what we needed for the good Queen
To explain what had happened, for Hanso to preen.

There was shock and confusion when Krawken appeared,
Survived only by Gavril McGill, we all feared
That Krawk Island might vanish for good, but the last
Of the Island was found. (Is that all? Don’t avast!)

Well, alright, I’ll tell you of the factions and war,
And the boons for the winners, and let’s not ignore
The brave Corbin and Kell, who went through Grave Danger—
Which, for both us and Petpets, was quite the game-changer.

Do you know what was random? Doc Landelbrot’s Portals.
Do you know how he makes them? (We are just mere mortals!)
When Nabile and Amira’s trade summit fell flat
We could not have done without a good diplomat.

When the Wraiths of the past made a scary resurgence,
We helped Kaia and Fyora stop their re-emergence.
Aymas Xendrik and Lyra and Aurrick all clashed.
With the Warden’s lost heirloom, the Krawk up and dashed.

Then these legends used letters to beat the Claymaker,
And the tablet turned out to be quite the curse-breaker.
So, while Aurrick confronted the ghosts of his past,
Our girl Lyra, she learnt how to be an outcast.

The full story of Lyra and Aurrick’s not done;
We must wait and see—though we know it will be fun—
We don’t know how this tale will unfold, but hooray!
We can celebrate Neopets’ twentieth birthday!

As you took that trip with me down memory lane,
You will realise the last twenty years were insane.
So, with thanks to the members of TNT, may
All of us have a wonderful birthday today!

20 Years of Creativity

When I got my first computer, 
Neopets was my digital drive
to produce all types of art
to create stories I strived.

I started out quite shaky
just learning how to type
Neopets taught me online creativity
and Neoboards got me to write.

I drew my first art for my Neopets
and learnt HTML for my shop
I tried my hand at comics for the Times
My creativity would not stop!

I created characters with my friends
and wrote stories about my pets
Drew them in all sorts of silly poses
Created art with no regret.

For many years this community
Has let children across the net
To find joy in writing stories,
to imagine worlds for their pets.

We'll never forget the things we created,
spreading art without a fear
For all the times you have inspired us,
A very Happy Twenty Years!

20 Years

In 1999, neopets took form
By two friends in a Uni Dorm
England was where it all began
Now it's played across the land

In 20 years we have seen
All thats stemmed from just a dream
From just two freinds, to companies
Under the watchful eye of TNT

With neopets we grew and grew
Our pets even converted too
With plots, toys, and merch for homes
It's even expanded to apps on phones

Even though some things have left
Like shockwave games and keyquest
Other things get to take their place
With charity corner and jetsam ace!

When I found Neopets I was quite small
I didn't know much about it at all
20 years have passed and yet,
I still forget to feed my neopet!
