Reflections of a Storyteller
By Phadalusfish

Sometimes you read a part and think:
"How am I supposed to follow this?"
A block descends on your parchment,
And you turn away.

Sometimes you read a part and think:
"How am I supposed to follow this?"
You press your quill to parchment
And hammer something out. It's awful.

Sometimes you read a part and think:
"How am I supposed to follow this?"
You press your quill to parchment
And hammer something out. It's brilliant.

Sometimes you read a part and think:
"This is awesome!"
An idea strikes at once and you send it in.
It's the worst thing you've ever written.

Sometimes you read a part and think:
"This is awesome!"
But you have no idea what to write.
You hammer something out. It's brilliant.

And sometimes you read a part and think:
"This is awesome!"
But you still have no idea what to write,
So you skip that part.

And sometimes you read a part and think:
"This is exactly what I would have written!"
So you dash off an entry
And have to wait long hours for an answer.
So, to pass the time, you write a poem
About all the times you've ever thought
Of the Storytelling Contest
To ease your nerves and distract yourself.

You pass each second in the Catacombs,
Surrounded by your talented rivals, friends,
And realise that rather than finding solace,
You've created yet another waiting game.

A Wraith Conundrum
By Crystallizedginger

I know they're Xandra's minions,
Wicked and evil and dark,
But what I wonder is
What in the world are they?

I've been to the library
To the Archives, too,
But even old Finneus
Just can't exactly say.

Are they made out of mist?
Some magical substance?
Or are they pure shadows
Swirling and grey?

Could they be supernatural,
Evil incarnate?
Some demons of the underworld
Here to steal us away?

But whatever wraiths are,
They can be tamed.
We've got them in cages
And captives they'll stay!

The Gelert Olympics
By Filter

There's a secret event in the month of Running,
Surrounded by a fruit-filled celebration.
The members' list is hush-hush, but know this,
You'll need four legs to get an invitation.

Set in the jungles of Mystery Island,
There are tracks, hurdles, and balls in the mix.
Lines and scoring, markers and flags,
Welcome to the Gelert Olympics.

The main event is the month's mantra,
Running is one of the Gelert's best recreations.
The sprint, the relay, the cross-country jaunt,
Tails wagging through all of the checkpoint stations.

The flying disc catch is the Gelert's next fave,
Leaping and grabbing at the spinning plate.
Running fast and jumping high,
Making sure to not get there too late.

There are off-the-cuff contests too,
Like find the fruit that's buried in sand.
The Gelerts are using all their senses,
Returning to the judges with conquests in hand.

There's the ball toss, the rope tug,
The playful but safe Kadoatie chase.
So many events to enter and win,
Grab your Gelert and find the place!

Story Telling
By Webguisa

Harboured in the Deep Catacombs
Sits a group that tells a tale.
When one says a part to start,
Another continues the tale.

One by one, 'round and 'round,
They sit side by side
And spoke with sound.
To speak about a story or two,
And create a story that is brand-new.

From sailing to mountains
To flowers galore,
All these new stories
Will have you floored.

So when they start,
Be prepared to join,
And take your part
In the story with heart!

The Song of the Chomby
By Nesiatheenigma

They came from across the great Plateau,
A place that's never graced by snow.
The land is barren and never wet,
The only rain is a Giant Omelette.

This is from where the Chomby came,
This from where they came.

Stars inside the Concert Hall,
It's Chomby and the Fungus Balls!
Their music has such a beat,
Even grey pets get on their feet.

This is how the Chomby sing,
This is how they sing!

The malevolent one will bite your leg,
If you get near his precious egg.
Don't fight him in the Battledome,
His strikes will send you straight on home.

This is how the Chomby fight,
This is how they fight!

Their inner workings are underneath,
A hide that'd break a Grarrl's teeth.
Minds quicker than fair Aethia's blade,
Chomby always make the grade.

Let's throw a shout for Chomby Day,
Shout out for Chomby Day!
