MEERCA DAY SPECIAL

The Baker Of Neovia
by Swordlilly

Each day when the bell tolls eight
In the centre of the town,
The Crumpetmonger reaches up
To pull her shutters down.

Morning's always somewhat dim
In this corner of the Woods;
The Meerca deftly lights her lamps
And bakes her pies and goods.

South of her little bakery,
Her Ogrin neighbour Bart
Stands waving cheerfully to her
From his apple-bobbing cart.

Next door to her is the furniture shop
Where the Nimmo, Chesterdrawers,
Works with his jar and polishing-rag
On his tables, chairs and floors.

Her earliest guests are the newspaper boys
On their way to the printing press;
They like their scones and croissants hot
And their butter soft and fresh.

In the afternoon the paper's out,
Folks gather in the square.
Young girls emerge from the tailor's shop
To breathe the cool, crisp air.

Everyone likes a pastry warm
From the Crumpetmonger's shelves.
The shop girls, newsboys, ladies, gents,
All come to fill themselves.

From early morn to afternoon
The Meerca bakes and sells,
Her shabby dress and soft chef's hat
Abob to the tune of the bells.

The Ideal Meerca Bellhop
by Sugarypixiestix2

He knows everyone at the Neolodge,
greeting each one without a dodge.
As the Head Bellhop Captain there,
his work ethic is simply without compare.

Guests are free of any complaints
when he clears all the restraints;
The Neolodge runs like clockwork,
even if he's lacking a desk clerk.

Because he knows every profession
that is in the hotel's possession.
His mind is a well-oiled machine
and he doesn't even need caffeine.

He takes fine care of his uniform,
which is beyond a bellhop's norm.
Polishing his brass buttons daily,
so they'll be never dull or scaly.

The Meerca even offers to assist
a chambermaid if she's in a twist.
Hotel mishaps are not ever found
once this Meerca has come around.

The Elusive Fish Negg
by Choquis

The glisten in the Meerca’s eyes
only shines for one:
the azure treasure he hath sought
since the game has begun.

Tail grows with yellow, green,
and every vibrant hue.
Yet, deep inside this Meerca’s heart,
he longs for one light blue.

Elusive Negg with smile and fins
that few Meercas have seen,
appears before his very eyes
at the bottom on the screen.

Heart starts racing, as do legs,
rush quickly toward his goal.
Sunlight sparkles off the Negg,
reflects into his soul.

Closer, closer Negg's in view,
reach with tiny arm,
but, instead of grabbing crystal blue,
he’s picked up crimson harm!

My Checkered Meerca Mistake
by Chavo_guerrero

I was playing soccer
When a ball rolled up to me,
Without a second thought
I kicked it to the sea.

As it soared above me,
I noticed a checkered streak
And saw it was a Meerca,
With its round and squat physique!

This poor monotone Meerca
Had looked just like a ball;
I really didn't notice
That it wasn't quite as small.

Of course, I felt so guilty
That I'd kicked the little guy,
But I'll tell you this for nothing:
Those Meercas can sure fly!

High and higher the Meerca rose
Before falling with a splash,
I jogged over quickly as I could
With my face as grey as ash.

But the checkered Meerca smiled
And laughed as he swam away,
"It was fun being a soccer ball...
Let's play again some day!"

Happy As A Meerca
by Jellybeanott

With the widest grin
And two front teeth,
Big, bright shiny eyes
And the tail beneath.

He bounces along,
Singing as he goes,
Looking for mischief
With the tip of his nose.

He likes to play tricks
And a practical joke;
He says it’s good fun,
Just ignore the smoke.

When things go wrong,
Don’t look to him,
He’ll be bouncing away,
Big glued-on grin.

For, there’s no one as
Happy as a Meerca.

The Meerca Of Merifoods
by Outlander_

Hot Crossed Buns,
Yeasty Bread,
Thoughts of baked goods fill my head.

Bunch of Tomatoes,
Bag of Peas,
Could I offer you more of these tasty things?

I stand behind my cart,
Filled with wholesome Meridell food.
Are you hungry?
Here, have a cup of Gruel.

I work here behind my stand,
Selling my goods throughout the day,
And when the day is done,
I go home to sleep on my soft bed of hay.

The Meerca Brothers
by Plasticrose

In the dim and dangerous streets you’ll find,
Thieves aplenty of every kind.
The Meerca Brothers might seem quite tame,
But with a sordid deed they made their name.
On the night in question, so it’s said,
While the folks of Sakhmet lay in bed,
Along the narrow winding roads,
They made their way to the King’s abode.
With ropes and grab bags in their hands,
They climbed the walls of sculpted sand,
And over the castle walls they crept
As King Coltzan, oblivious, slept.
Nobody knows quite how they did,
But from the guards
The Brothers stayed well hid,
And they found the crown with jewels red,
Which Coltzan had worn upon his head.
But as they turned to leave, they saw
A crew of guards burst through the door.
They got away, but only just,
An in Malkus Vile they lost their trust.
They learned a lesson on that day:
Don’t let master criminals lead you astray!

The Chase
by Skyro101

There flew past the ball of yellow,
Long in tail, and short in leg.
A Meerca flew around the room,
Grabbing up all the Neggs.

He raced toward the first one,
Impatient to be fed,
He grabbed the yellow, green, and blue,
But narrowly dodged the red.

For a second, his speed had the best of him,
And for a moment,
The game over sign beckoned.
But the Neopet owner gritted her teeth
And hit "Up" at the very last second.

She had been chasing Neggs for weeks
To save up for that rare paint brush.
The game seemed so easy at first,
But now she was feeling quite rushed.

Angry Red Neggs had popped up,
Crowding her all around,
The Meerca's tail grew longer,
With each of the Neggs that it found.

After endlessly button-mashing,
She finally saw her prize!
That beautiful 250 point Fish Negg --
It was quite a sight for sore eyes!

She made the Meerca race toward it,
Crying out that she couldn't fail,
But wait, too late, before she could blink,
The Meerca swung right into his tail.

"End Game" said the little pop-up.
"Would you like to send your score?"
But the Neopet owner did not see this...
She was too busy face-planting the floor.

"Nup, that's it," she cried out loudly,
"This game doesn't like me, either.
From now I'm going to earn Neopoints
The easy way
And just stick to Fashion Fever."

A Work Day In The Life Of A Meerca
by Lula0102

Up, right, down, and around,
The mighty Meerca won't stop.
All he wants is to collect his Neggs
And always avoid hitting the reds.

All the Meerca needs is his Neggs,
Blue or yellow, rainbow or green.
He keeps going like a machine;
I wonder if he's had caffeine!

As he collects, his tail reflects.
The Meerca wants to go on,
But the reds keep popping.
Luckily for him, his agility is whopping.

Relentless, the mighty Meerca continues
Avoiding every red in his way.
By his tail he might be betrayed,
Unless he proves he owns the arcade.

He's almost giving up hope,
But the ultimate treasure shows
And as he grabs the Fish Negg.
Happily, the Meerca heads home.

Cheery Meerca (But Don't Be Fooled!)
by Handuran

This Meerca always wears a permanent smile
As he hops on his tail, all of the while.
Throws a prank on an unexpected victim --
Nothing can beat his talent and wisdom.
Mischievous and fun loving, is this fellow
As he hops around,
Laughter an almighty bellow.

His tricks and jokes are enough to stun;
Everything he does is in the name of pure fun!
He can even steal toys
From your bags and pockets,
From your finest model to silver lockets.
Clever is this cheery Meerca's intricate mind
As he delves away to see what he can find.

Bright eyes, small nose, a tail softer than wool,
But be careful, this Meerca is no fool!
He is happy and carefree and full of poise
As he carefully hops, making hardly no noise.
His agility and skill are second to none
As he carries out his deeds, many to be done!

And, as you stop to stare at the Meerca,
He grins and flashes you the cheesiest grin,
For nothing can dampen his spirits today,
As Meerca Day has landed, he is out to play!
So cheery, this Meerca... you begin to think,
And as you turn around you hear a small clink.

The Meerca runs off into the distance;
A twinkle sparkles in his wide-set eyes.
And, as you turn around to have a better look,
You understand this cheery Meerca
Is also a crook!
There, he holds a golden pocket watch
Within his paws,
It is then you stare in awe, with agape jaws.
