Sakhmet Solitaire
By Cynnick

The Sakhmetian desert Chomby says,
"Come join me, if you dare.
I'll deal the cards, and you can play
A game of solitaire.
It's the standard, classic solitaire style.
You know it, or you should.
And I'll give you this trophy,
If you're very, very good."

I nod my head and ante up,
And sit down in the sand.
"Now this," I tell myself,
"Is one game I can understand.
I've played it all my life
And think I know its ins and outs,
And I shall have that trophy soon,
There isn't any doubt."

The Chomby nods and smiles
One of his cryptic desert smiles,
And lays the cards out neatly
Into seven little piles.
"Aha," says I, the smuggest
Little smirk upon my face,
"Red Four goes on Black Five.
And already, here's an Ace!"

I whip through my spare cards,
And I examine every third,
This Chomby, he just smiles at me
And never says a word.
I'm stacking up the cards so well,
I give myself applause,
But suddenly, it's over!
Just like that, I'm out of draws!

The Chomby gives me Neopoints,
Although it's not a lot.
Perhaps this simple game is not
As easy as I thought.
And though he smiles and tells me
That I've done the best I can,
I see that golden trophy there,
Just waiting, in his hand.

I come back every day and sit there,
At those golden feet,
Refine my solitaire tactics,
In the scorching desert heat.
All my work pays off, for soon
The silver trophy's mine!
But still in Chomby's hand awaits
The prize for which I pine.

I wonder, does he hold it there
To keep me coming back,
Knowing I'll return to seek
The golden prize I lack?
Or maybe he just flashes it
Because he likes to tease.
It doesn't matter, really.
Chomby, deal the cards out, please!

Neopian Seasons
By Gryphflame46

Sleeping
Passing through the dawn
Of a year, with cloudy eyes
Not ready to awaken

Awakening
Slipping out of snow
Tentative blossoms waking
To a cold season

Running
Stretching out tired limbs
The world flowers, and better yet
Two weeks off Neoschool!

Eating
Gorging on new crops
From Meridell and other worlds
Breaking winter's fast

Hunting
Lupes pad through the woods
While presses print the hot debate
The Chia: pet or prey?

Relaxing
After a day's work
Sitting outside one's Neohome
Calm is the best gift

Swimming
Dive in and cool off
As the summer heat scorches
Those silly landlubbers

Hiding
Playing in the woods
Running up and down the trees
Betcha can't find me!

Gathering
Neoschool is in
And winter is coming back
We'd better prepare!

Collecting
Stock up on candy
To last you the winter months
Better watch your back!

Storing
Piling away goods
Toiled for in past months
Winter is now here

Celebrating
A pat on the back
Another year is over
And winter is here

The Castle of Eliv Thade
By Flying_dolphin201

The castle looms in the distance, black,
Something bids the traveler turn back,
And yet his footsteps towards it begin,
To find what secrets hide within.

What strange secrets does the castle hide?
What kinds of kings from its halls have spied?
Perhaps the traveler wonders these things,
But the howling wind no answer brings.

Ghostly shadows in the silence gleam--
Perhaps they've haunted many a dream,
But their cohorts the darkness conceals
Blotting out both what kills and what heals.

Huge blind eyes gape at the road below,
But their views no mortal mind shall know.
What strange secrets does the castle hide?
None shall know, for it has all defied.

Vira's Upfall
By Kewlkat75

As she flew around the Battledome,
Fighting Grundos, Faeries and such.
A powder touched her face,
And it hurt her very much.

The Vira she had been,
Was slowly shifting away.
A pleasant smile with teeth,
That had no strange decay.

Her wings were looking polished,
And skin was glistening, too.
Vira couldn't take it,
What was she going to do?

She had loved her evil self,
Now all the Neopians laughed at her state.
She then realized what she could do,
It was all that could help her fate.

Vira called to the voice that she heard,
Years and years ago as a young girl.
The voice had answered her evilishly,
And unfurled her real, true self!

Back to the wicked smiles,
Fighting the Faeries and such.
She laughed a dark laugh once again,
And grabbed a Chomby with her strong clutch.

Ode to a Water Faerie
By Dreamswept

At home in mystical waters sublime,
She spends the days and hours of her time,
To heal and soothe with gentle hands,
The weary and sick of Neopia's lands.

To make them all better; that is her goal,
Surely a lifelong dedication for a caring soul.
She heals Neomites when a pet's got an itch,
Infested by pernicious lurgees
That make their skin twitch.
And she cures Neoflu when pets feel ewww,
With a dip in her Healing Springs
They feel as good as new.

When a pet comes in reeling
From a Battledome fight,
This Water Faerie restores their HP
And sets them right.
She shares her healing potions;
A gift from her heart,
So that many an owner can heal
Their pets right from the start.
She keeps our pets so full up with food,
Making them happy and in a fun mood.

While others Faeries send us off
To find things on magical quests,
This Water Faerie gives, recompensation
Is something she never requests.
(Although she sells potions and elixirs in her store,
There's a limit of one per visit,
So you'd have to come back later for more)

To her Healing Springs
They come from far and from wide,
From the plateau of Tyrannia
And the underwater tide.
To bathe in those magic waters so pure,
Relaxed and restful; they wait for the cure.

So head off to Faerieland every half hour,
When your pet's feeling ill or low on HP power.
For with a wave of her hand;
Or perhaps a word or two,
She can make your pet feel as good as new.
