PTERI DAY SPECIAL

The Black Pteri
By Silver_spiderlilies

The black wind screams in shady tones
Whilst slinking 'round gnarled trees
Skeletal and bare as bones
With dull greyish leaves

On random post a figure mulls
Enigmatic raptor
Cursed breast shifts in paltry lulls
Slate-feathered predator

Inflamed eyes flare dark red
Scowling 'bove curved beak
Stained charcoal-black in brooding shade
And ashen-grey on peak

Its plumes though plush and flocculent
Reflect unearthly light
And perfect claws though excellent
Boast of grip dire tight

On spectral days; spectral hours
The figure alights with ease
Compelling withered dusty flowers
And dry black winds like these

With yawning shriek and guttural screech
It howls doom and misery
A fitting sermon for it to preach
The cryptic Black Pteri

Faerie Pteri, Soaring High
By Mymoon

Soaring, the sky paints,
Dim outlines, of wings unfurled,
Swooping 'round, behold:

Slender, graceful wings,
Glory stolen from the sun,
Dipped in sunset glow.

Startling, the sight of
Wings tipped with purple feathers,
Cast against the clouds.

Reminiscent of
Fyora's queenly sceptre,
Messenger, indeed:

Of Faerie Queens, since
Ages; thus, the presence of
A sunlit star... oh!

Fyora's purple
Fades to a shade of vivid
Strawberry crimson.

As the sun retreats,
So does the crimson fade now,
To golden feathers.

Gifts from golden stars,
Dedicated to the one
Who soars, so graceful.

Tawny body skims
The crests of stately towers,
Just a glimpse, then gone.

Elusive, the one,
Flying freely, the Faerie
Pteri of fable.

Rainbow Pteri Fantasy
By Anjie

Resplendent on an idle breeze,
A whispered gust between the trees.
Luscious patterns, brightly spread,
A dark green jade, a crimson red.
The vivid spectrum of her form,
So toned in shades alive and warm.

A rainbow fantasy she seems,
Petite Pteri softly gleams.
The span of wings a rainbow spread,
Through feathers bright, the colors thread.
Beneath the canopy of jade,
She seeks a haven in the shade.

Yet even in the darkest tree,
Those vivid colors, one might see.
The silken plumage, fanned with pride,
Prismatic colors won't subside.
A scarlet flash upon her crown,
Then lambent tones fade slowly down.

Pure poetry as soft, she glides,
Upon rogue breeze, she gently rides.
Illusion, mirage, rare as gold,
A rainbow vision, wings unfold.
The rainbow beauty launched with ease,
Then vanished, gliding on the breeze.

Pterattack
By Laurelinden

Fly fast, o Pteris; dart and flit and soar
With all your speed, though even that might fail
When followed fast by Grarrl's hungry roar,
His snapping jaw, his breath warm on your tail!

Endangered is your dear Tyrannia;
Be swift, your wings! Be nimble in your glide;
Be brave, o Pteris, tiny though you are,
You are all that before the danger lies.

'Tis you, o Pteris, leaders of attack,
Pteris, sharp of eye, sharper of beak,
It is your cries that drive threateners back,
And of your courage mighty foes do speak!

Though dangers creep from all sides
Toward your land,
They will be met by brave Pteri band.

Black Pteri
By Nut862

Black feathered fiend, with red glowing eye
Perched on a fencepost that's always nearby
He has a story to tell, and it's one of woe
He spells out his sadness in one shrieking crow.

Doom and misery—doom! The end has begun!
He knows that fate's final strike will come
He's been waiting for it over many a moon
With each passing day he's surer it'll be soon.

Misery and doom—misery!
His wretched cry has pealed!
How can he be happy
When he knows his fate is sealed?
There's nothing to be joyful for
Or look forward to each day
He can only sit mourning
And whiling his time away.

"THEY are coming, THEY are coming,"
He moans into the skies,
"There's no escape, THEY'LL end it all,"
The Pteri loudly cries.
"Watch out, watch out! You ignorant fools,
So happy and so free!
THEY will get you, mark my words,
Whoever THEY may be."

So he huddles with feathers raised,
Miserable and all alone;
He wouldn't accept friends
Even if they'd listen to him groan.
He wails: "What desolation I have seen,
And how pitiful am I!
There's no point in being happy now,
So I won't even try."

His mind looks into the future,
And sees it devoid of hope
Nothing left to do but find a fencepost
To sit upon and mope
On a fencepost sits the Black Pteri,
Long since fallen from the sky
On a fencepost sits the Black Pteri,
For he's forgotten how to fly.
