Sketching My Eyrie By dragonsnow

I sketch her there upon the log,
my beautiful Eyrie,
oh beautiful Eyrie...
My violet crayon shades in fur,
I soften the tone with a drop of water.
It's quite hard to capture
wind blowing through feathers,
on a linen wasteland
of cloth and paper.
I glance at her once, again, and again,
my drawing looks lifeless,
like a plain little sketch.
But I guess you can't copy
the majesty of life.
Especially the life of a wild heart Eyrie.
I tear up the sketch and pull out my camera.
She makes a strange pose, what a silly Eyrie.
I take a few photos, and then we go home.
But only long enough to get more paper.

It's too late for me.
My owner,
who once loved me,
turned without glancing back at me.
And so I waited,
growing hungry day after day.
Until I saw her and ran towards her
only to find a cold face.
Now I lie on the hard, cold floor,
waiting for her to return,
but she never comes.
Owners walk by
and look through the iron bars,
but I remain still,
unseen in the shadows.
Years pass.
My fur has become coarse and untame,
but I close my eyes
and I suffer no longer.
