We sit and wait
For the owner that never comes.
We cry.
We get no sympathy.
No food.
They just don't care.
Every owner who visits
Looks at us, and passes on.
Their pets get food.
And books.
They join Guilds.
Have fun.
We get nothing.
Just because our owner no longer wants us.
Do we not matter any more?
What chance do we have
Of getting out?
We lie on steel stretchers, dreaming
Of the owner who will never come.

A Blumaroo runs by
it`s feet thumping softly
like a heartbeat.
A Kougra stalks silently
through the grass
his nose smelling the life of the night
(as a Kougra he knows
the night is alive).
Lenny is perched on the limb of a tree
his eyes sealed shut in deep sleep
ignorant of the Kougra
creeping behind him.
The Blumaroo nibbling grass
sees with his keen night vision
the pattern of stripes within the grass.
With a sudden realization
that he is being hunted,
the Blumaroo darts away.
In pounding thumps
calling out a warning call.
Lenny`s eyes snap open
and he flutters from the tree
in a blur of flapping red wings
just as the Kougra leaps for him.
Lenny lets out a piercing caw
and the Elephante
curled up sleeping a little ways away
edges a little closer
to her sleeping Zafara companion.
In fear of the mysterious
and frightening noises of
Neopia at night.

A broken vase... an angry owner
A little Kacheek who didn't mean any harm
Gets taken to the pound with no hope in sight
Sad and lonely
With tangled fur and an empty tummy
She sits and waits
For someone to come...
To take her away from this awful place...
To love and care for her as their very own
She waits...but not for long
A girl with two young ones already at home
Takes one look at this little baby
And knows exactly what she has to do
So the little Kacheek leaves the pound
Feeling hopeful and happy
About the new life she was about to begin.
Now she has lots to be thankful for...
Good food and lots of toys,
Two big sisters to teach her things and play
But most of all she is thankful for her mommy,
the one person who stopped to
think of others above herself!

Honor of the Grarrl By karate_mouse

When the amber sun rises
the Grarrl raises up
with a great roar.
His razor-like teeth of pearl
yearns for battle
this makes him whole.
As he ran in the green fields
the sun warms his back.
As the blue wind cools him off
he sees the enemy.
As his blood runs faster
adrenaline pumping in his veins
the battle is about to commence.
The other Grarrl
is bigger and snarling wildy.
CLASH!! The battle is on...
Though he fights bravely
the other Grarrl is stronger.
He's overpowered and can do nothing to win.
Yet his golden soul will not head to defeat
he fights and fights
until the white skies turn amber.
Once again his spirit paid off
and the other Grarrl
was run off in shamefull defeat.
Yet our hero's victory
was won on heart alone
and came at a great price.
His red wounds unhelpable
and his body unrepairable.
As the amber skies turn their dark purple
our hero breathes a golden soul
and then the golden soul
slowly but surely slips away.
As our hero lets his last breath of air
out with a whisp of relief.
