The War is Coming
By smkork

In the land of Meridell, behind fields of marrows,
There have been whispers of a darker tomorrow.
It has only been a rumor, never spoke aloud,
But all the Ixis know it,
they hear voices in the crowds:
They say a war is coming.

Hold your baby Neopets warm and tight,
Train those that want to fight,
Every Neopian must be ready for the call,
Be prepared to risk it all
If a war is coming.

Stock up on potions, on codestones, on Faeries,
Buy those good weapons, but still be wary,
For who knows what will happen
to the Medieval world?
Will it be destroyed, or can it still be saved,
Once the war is coming.

Will Dr. Sloth resume his evil plans
Of conquering all Neopia's lands?
Nothing much can be foretold,
Except that we must be brave and bold
When the war is coming.

The Lost Desert
By ox_man

Amidst the sand
And shifting dunes
There lie some tents
Beneath the moons

Travel with me
Into this thirsty realm
Where old king Coltzan
Used to sit at the helm

Help the woody tank
Destroy the swarm
Without any air conditioning
It sure is warm

See how the pyramids
Jut from the sun-glazed sand
Reaching for the sun
Like gold pointed hands

Help Kiaran the Kyrii
Navigate the maze
Past mummies and traps
The confusing craze

This concludes my tour
Of this dusty land
And remember before you visit
There is a whole lot of sand!

Ode to an Annoying Turmaculus
By sugarbaby0013

Oh, Mr. Turmaculus why won't you wake?
I've tried so hard, now what does it take?
I'll try again only once more
Now what Petpet should I send
for the perfect lure?

Perhaps I'll send a little Tigermouse
to do the task.
I'll arm him with a tiny little flask.
He'll pour ice cold Neocola down your back
But you might screech because of the cold,
and give him a smack!

Then how about a Teasquito, to buzz in your ear?
Practically harmless, so have no fear!
But I must be wary of the nearby potatoes!
They're almost magnetic
like bad jokes and tomatoes!

Ah, a Symol is the answer, for they live nearby!
I'll go and give Ye Olde Petpets a try!
They'll burrow below and give tummy a whack...
What?! Sold out?! Ugh... I'll have to come back!

But I CAN'T wait, so what to do?
I know! I'm thinking of a little "Pea-da-doodle-do"!
A Peadackle is my only wish...
But wait... it's not a rooster? It's a FISH?

From the pretty Primella to the handy Horus,
To the rarest of the Krawks
that seem to never bore us.
From the ones that float to the ones that dive,
From the ones who belong in a little bee hive!

Oh will I EVER find a Petpet
that will wake this beast?!
Or make him stop snoring at the very least?
Forget it! I've lost! I can be such a silly girl!
Now all I have left is
this stupid pink rock to hurl...

Adopting a Grundo
By too_kule

I went to the Space Station,
And I searched high and low,
Because I had room in my heart,
For a cute, little Grundo.

It was really quite messy,
With cobwebs on the wall,
A broken lightbulb was on the ceiling,
And by a cage, I saw a Spyder crawl.

The cages were everywhere!
Scattered all over the floor,
The poor Grundos looked at me,
As to say, "Take me through that door!"

The colour didn't matter,
It could be purple, red or green,
But it had to be a nice one,
And it just could not be mean.

I went to pet a small one,
But then he tried to bite,
So I walked away from that one,
Though he'd be quite good in a fight.

The place was just too sad,
It made me want to cry,
I started to head towards the door,
When a brown one caught my eye.

She was sitting in her cage,
Looking so sad to me,
I went up to that Grundo,
And decided to set her free.

I went home with that Grundo,
And I still have her today,
Sometimes we just hang out together,
Or go outside to play.

So go, adopt a Grundo!
They may be weak and not smart,
But at least you'll have a new friend,
And you'll fill up the space in your heart.

Turmaculus Miraculous
By omusubi

Upon my trip to Meridell,
I found that there was quite a quell.
For a great new Petpet, Turmaculus,
Was found to have an appetite miraculous!

He'd eaten everything in sight,
Through day and noon and eve and night.
And now he lay in peaceful slumber,
His stomach holding useful plunder.

To wake the beast was my only task,
"How hard could it be?" the skeptics asked.
But it proved to be a trial indeed,
For the sleeping beasty would not heed.

We hit, we kicked, with sticks and rocks,
We danced for him in dirty socks!
But all he did was grunt and gruff,
It seemed we couldn't do enough.

We screamed and sang 'till we had no voice,
Alas we'd reached the final choice.
And when we let that last bell toll,
Onto my Petpet he did roll.

We found we must admit defeat,
And wandered toward the dusty street.
But we were stopped by a flower filled breeze,
Which caused my Petpet to let out a sneeze.

And suddenly the ground gave a fearful shake,
The great Turmaculus was awake!
He snorted and grunted and stood up tall,
And from his mouth something did fall.

He returned to the ground
with a shattering crash,
And into the dust cloud I did dash!
My Petpet was shaken, but safe and sound,
And an evil snowball lay on the ground.

All of that work amounted to nothing,
But the people of Meridell found me laughing.
When asked what I thought, I had this to say,
"Tomorrow is another day!"
