GELERT DAY SPECIAL
Gelert A To Z
by Chavo_guerrero
An A-Z of great Gelerts
Sounds like a boring read,
But if you'd quickly take a look
You'd like it -- we're agreed!
It starts off with some Armour
For your special Neopet,
Then follows with the Battledome
And Colours you can get.
It leads right into Disease,
In case your 'pet is sick,
Eating, Fashion, and Growling
Are there, so take your pick!
Howling and Inaction,
Jokes and Kisses, too,
Lots on how to Love them,
And Magic they can do.
Next it talks of Nurturing,
Your Gelert will think you're great,
A list of Outings for you both
To enjoy with your best mate.
Paws and Quests and Royalty
You'll quickly learn about,
Squeak Toys and Talents
Are not to be left out.
Undead Gelerts are covered next,
It explains quite a lot,
Followed by the Vitamins
To feed your Gelert tot.
Wagging of the tail
Is obvious to most,
But still this book will tell you
What it means to its Gelert host.
XYZ is simply
More of what we've learned,
With special little formulas,
In case you are concerned.
Pick a copy up today
Of the Gelert A To Z,
I can assure you it really is
The best you'll have ever read.

The Gelert Wizard Pen's History
by Sugarypixiestix2
The famous wizard who created it
felt every pen he owned was unfit,
so he decided to create his own
out of an enchanted ancient stone.
Using his wisdom and creativity,
along with his use of selectivity.
He modelled it after his stave,
since the design was a known fave.
It took him months of research
and many dinners of cold perch.
Until he had perfected the pen
that made him feel outright zen.
At last it was fully completed;
the pen would become undefeated.
This the Gelert knew for a fact
as soon as he used it to subtract.
Each time he got a problem right
its orb turned greenly bright.
Something no other pen could do,
which makes it an item to pursue.

Gilbert Of Meri Acres Farm
by Blessed_faerie
Gilbert the yellow Gelert
Is a good friend of mine.
Though most say he’s grumpy,
To me, he’s always been kind.
He works at Meri Acres farm
And was born and raised in Meridell.
Gilbert tends the Pick Your Own fields,
And he does his job well.
It’s true, some days he’s cranky
When he finds a field full of dung.
Still, if you ask to pick some berries,
He’s always let you have some.
Neopets from all around
Come to his farm to pick.
Be careful to not get lost,
Because his fields are really thick.
You can find so many fruits,
My favorite is the Jumbleberry.
It is pink and oh-so-sweet,
Although it looks a bit hairy.
Go give Gilbert some business
The next time you’re free.
Try his job for one day,
You’ll see picking berries isn’t easy!

Chef Julien's Creations
by Dr_tomoe
There are many in Neopia
who consider themselves gourmets.
Those who try new foods,
like Frozen Negg Flambe.
But the bravest of the brave
know that the best feasts
come from the land that's
home to the trick-or-treats.
Spooky Food is the best,
and the master chef of Halloween
is the fancy Gelert chef,
the legendary Julien.
He works for the Triple S,
Or Spooky Shindig Society,
And it was during one contest
that he gained much notoriety.
Chef Julien's many creations
are delicious, if somewhat scary.
Like the Turkey Monster, Gravy Nightmare,
and the delicious Bogie Berry.
Most Spooky Food comes
from his quiet kitchen,
and he's been cooking it for years,
It's just what he's best in.
From Cobweb Cakes to Scary Soup,
and undead food like broccoli.
His kitchen even developed
a fun Edible Plushie.
So, fans of eating (or of fright),
have one Gelert to cheer,
for Julien's Spooky Food is tasty
and not something to fear.

A Reject Gelert Plushie
by Dianacat777
It’s Gelert Day, and Plushie Palace
Proudly supports the trend.
Neopets all shape and size
Gather ‘round for a new friend.
Two whole shelves boast Gelert toys.
Red, yellow, green, and blue.
Then bolder colors -- orange and pink,
Cloud, robot... spotted, too.
The faerie plushie’s wings shimmer.
The magma glows soft red.
Maraquan, sleek purple and green,
Darigan, fraught with dread.
And the last one, hidden on the shelf --
What monstrosity is this?
Whoever made this should be sacked!
It’s driving me to fits!
It’s... kind of orange, I guess, somewhat?
But then it fades to yellow
With tye-dye splotches green and blue
All over this sad fellow.
Its tail hangs lank and limply down,
It has an extra ear!
Even mutant Gelerts have symmetry
This one’s just... oh, dear.
And yet, somehow, these imperfections...
They almost seem all moot.
The more I look, the more I think...
It’s really rather cute.
Other ‘pets might boast new toys --
Bright colors, soft and fluffy.
But I’m quite happy with my new
Reject Gelert Plushie!

A Day For Gelerts
by Fullonparanoid
There once was a sweet young Gelert,
Who cried when his feelings got hurt.
He would wipe his nose
All over his clothes,
So he always had snot on his shirt.
Gelerts are an interesting lot
(Like the one above, covered in snot).
They are loyal and curious,
And sometimes mysterious,
And always ready for a Neopian plot!
Gelerts are known for their pack mentality,
Traveling together with much joviality,
They love to run and romp and play,
All through the night and all through the day.
Unrestrained joy is their state of reality.
The Gelert is a very brave breed,
Often up front and taking the lead.
Protecting their friends,
No matter the ends,
Ever quick to help out wherever the need.
Remember our friend from above?
Even he filled with courage
(When push came to shove).
With hearts bigger than their chests,
And more loyal than all the rest,
Today is their day, let's give them some love!
Happy Gelert Day!

Red Origami Gelert
by Indulgences
I screamed with joy when
I saw this small wearable.
Origami rocks!
Two floppy red ears
Crown this tiny wearable.
They point up and down.
A small, perky tail
Is twisted in a zigzag.
I want to pull it!
And finally, a
Golden badge with Chinese script
Covers its small chest.
So dainty and small,
This wearable is lovely.
I wish there were more.
But there are just five
Origami wearables.
I bemoan this fact.
So please, TNT,
Make more origami things!
We want them so much!

The Smug Philosopher
by Jayo289
A cup of tea at a time like this,
He seems to be in absolute bliss.
As you prepare for the first attack,
Your Gelert opponent is eating a snack.
“Let us make this quick,” he suggests
As you quickly grow tired of his constant jests.
You ready a stance with sword in hand,
Primed for success, just as you'd planned.
But something makes you pause on the spot,
As you wonder if the enemy has lost the plot.
This Gelert doesn't seem attentive at all,
More concerned with his hair than the brawl.
“I'd best get back to the library soon,
But first let me just snag the boon.”
Your rage rises as he strokes his locks,
You'd give anything
To put him in Meridell's stocks.
But no matter how much
You shout and scream,
You just can't break this combatant's esteem.
The obelisk that once seemed like such a prize
is nothing compared to your frustrated cries.
As you retreat with an angry groan,
He can't help but exclaim in factual tone:
“All that without exchanging a single blow,
Who'd expect any less
From the mighty Sandro?”

Rayn Trueshot, True Of Heart
by Flufflepuff
His ears aflutter in the wind,
His tail rigid and straight,
His arms a-trembling from too long
He let the arrow wait,
Trueshot ground his sturdy teeth
As tighter did he draw
The string of his smooth, faithful bow
Up to his hardened jaw.
He loosed the arrow where it sunk
Its tooth into a tree --
One of many scores delivered
To let the sap flow free.
Trueshot’s burly arms swayed like
Tree trunks, stiff in the wind
While sauntering to reach, retrieve
The proof that he had sinned.
The tree cried out in silent pain
As the arrow was wrenched out.
Rayn Trueshot returned to his spot,
Casting off the doubts
That he would miss his target yet.
Once more he drew his bow
With muscles screaming to give up
And released his arrow.
Time and time again he missed
The nested circles in
Front of him. He ached to quit,
But was determined to win.
Within the week, a tournament
Would soon be widely held,
Available to archers from
Brightvale to Meridell.
Trueshot took a steady breath,
Began to draw and nock
His arrow tight, taking his stance,
Refusing to be mocked.
Alas, his wrist was not as true.
The arrow struck the guard
And sailed off deep into the woods,
Piercing the ground, hard.
Rayn ran paws through his hair,
So clingy with fatigue,
And allowed the piercing branch
To return to the weeds.
A tiny smile tipped his lips.
Though arrows went astray
Because of him, the Gelert would
Participate anyway.
Regardless of accuracy
(In his case, lack thereof),
The only part of him that’s true
Is his passion and love
For archery, which is a must.
Hope is not lost for him.
If he corrects his bending wrist,
He may yet start to win.

The Maid's Discovery
by Tj_wagner
In mystical Faerieland there exists a tower;
Hidden to most,
But those who have the power
To find its location are sure to have a tale --
Of beautiful items that are for sale.
Yet, while many know it’s around, few know all,
Of the Gelert maid
Who fell through an invisible wall
And told Queen Fyora
That something was there.
And this was when Faerieland
Was still in the air.
This Gelert maid, Celandra she was called,
And her powers of scrubbing left most awed.
She was faithful and worked hard to clean,
Although she was
Prone to gossip with the Queen.
One day she was keeping herself amused,
By working on
Part of the castle that was unused.
While attacking some
Spyder’s webs with a broom,
She fell forward and landed in a hidden room.
The Gelert was in shock
And she looked all around.
This tower had never before been found.
The wall had looked solid but it had been fake;
An illusion or mirage that magic did make.
To Queen Fyora she immediately rushed,
And her high hopes weren’t instantly crushed.
About this tower Fyora hadn’t heard,
But she took her faithful maid at her word.
Celandra happily showed her the way,
And Fyora decided to use it
As a shop that very day.
“This will be perfect,”
She said with a smile on her face,
“I’m so glad, Celandra,
That you found this place.”
Next time you’re in Faerieland, you should try
To find the Hidden Tower,
For there you can buy,
Fabulous treasures,
And after a deal has been made,
Make sure to say a quiet thanks
For Celandra the maid.
