UNI DAY SPECIAL

101 Ways To Annoy A Uni
by Dr_tomoe

The Uni is a majestic species
and one of Neopia's first to arrive.
They walk on solid hooves
and have the ability to fly!

And what better fun to have
with Unis all around
than to annoy them constantly
like this book will show how!

You could stick gum on their shoes
and then bury them in sand;
claim they're all Jazan lovers
when most are Hanso fans.

You can mess with their wardrobe
and invade their personal space,
and dress them like Alabriss
and insist they play Chariot Chase!

They won't admit it, but they all
fall for the classic Cobrall In A Can,
and they get really annoyed when
you give them gloves for their "hands."

But the best way to annoy a Uni
is this book itself, it's number one!
Just try to avoid getting their horn
poking you in the backside, that's just no fun.

The Motherly Uni Gardener
by Sugarypixiestix2

Her garden is her life's work,
she's like a gardening clerk.
Putting every plant in order,
documenting it on a recorder.

The smell of dirt is splendid,
as her senses become extended.
Her garden smock is always on
when you see her in her lawn.

Even her grass is tended to,
so it always has fresh dew.
The Uni's trees have names
who enjoy her topiary games.

They're true old yard friends,
chattering away like big hens.
Neighbours find her a bit odd,
but she is real, not a fraud.

Being genuine and so sincere,
the air by her is extra clear.
Flowers bloom on her behalf,
as if she owns a magical staff.

The Nightsteed's Ride
by Dianacat777

Lost Desert nights are quiet things,
Or often are -- but then;
A crack, a gallop, pounding hooves
And a legend rides again.

A proud Uni, he almost seems
At a single distant peek.
In daylight’s rays he towers tall,
A knight’s steed, true and sleek.

But moonlight’s touch reveals the truth,
Fur darkens, reveals bone.
Hooves spring alight with ghastly flame
To carve a path alone.

They call him Nightsteed; call and fear,
And cower at his name.
Sand vitrifies to darkened glass
Under his blazing flame.

And so, they scream and flee the sight;
They see nothing beneath.
The truth is that this monster’s heart
Is nobler than they see.

He patrols the desert, keeps it safe
From monsters in the night.
Protecting wandering travelers
Until the morning’s light.

Only then will he return
To his companion Jazan’s side.
A proud blue Uni once again
After another nightly ride.

The Adoption Desk
by Blessed_faerie

It’s no big secret in Neopia
That I love getting new 'pets.
When I’m ready for a change,
I head to the adoption desk.

There I meet a pretty pink Uni
Who greets me with a smile.
She’s never even a tad unfriendly
And she always goes the extra mile.

She shares her thoughts and expertise
To help you pick the perfect 'pet.
I have visited a lot over the years
And she’s never let me down yet!

There is one funny thing about her:
No one knows her name.
Most people call her “Rose” or “Rosie,”
Either way, she responds just the same.

Her biggest care in the world
Are those lonely 'pets in The Pound.
She wants to help those who are lost
Find a new home and become found.

This Uni Day, consider adoption
Instead of creating a new 'pet.
There’s so many to choose from;
You won’t be disappointed, I'll bet.

The Darkly Dance Of The Double Headed Uni Plushie
by Archangellight

"Which way is it going?"
You’ll ask before the end.
Forwardly back or backing forward,
Which way does it intend?
Twice the horns and twice the manes,
Twice the wings and twice the pain!
The Double Headed Uni Plush
Has twice the heads but not a tush!
Pawing, clawing, perhaps some sawing --
Soon enough, your 'pet is bawling.
Purest evil, snuggly form,
Both heads will bring the darkest storm.
Two Unis once, but now just one,
This plush won’t sleep ‘til evil’s done.
Blue or yellow, yellow-blue,
The Double Headed Uni Plushie
Comes... for you!

Ode To The Pink Uni
by Trubiekatie

When someone needs change,
A 'pet to love and care for,
There’s a place all must go
To knock upon this special door.

They call it The Pound,
With three choices for you.
Adopt, Transfer, or Abandon;
To adopt, there’s a long queue.

Some call this Uni Rose,
And some leave her unnamed.
“We've found some Neopets you can adopt!”
This sweet pink Uni has proclaimed.

There’s an Ogrin and a Meerca,
Who look awfully blue and sad.
But, for a fee, you could adopt them
To make you and this Uni glad.

Did I just spot a rare 'pet
With an expensive color paint?
Surely that must be a mistake,
But I will not raise this complaint!

I’ve finally picked a Kacheek
To take home with me forever.
The pink Uni smiles to me,
Wishing me best in our endeavor.

Here’s to the pink Uni
Who homes abandoned 'pets.
Your smile and enthusiasm
Leaves me with no regrets!

The Vainest Of Them All
by Treeword

Roll out the red carpet,
Prepare the caviar hors d'oeuvre,
For the Unis are convinced
Its what they do deserve.

Every Uni does believe
This day is just for them,
That they are quite unique,
A special kind of gem.

If you buy a gift for one
You buy a gift for all,
Better make it lavish
And not a simple doll.

A golden brush is one thing,
Or a jewel-encrusted shoe,
Else an expensive bottle
Of conditioner will do.

For there never was a ‘pet
So pompous or so vain,
Unis truly are the hardest
Of them to maintain...
Yet I don’t even have a Uni,
So I really can’t complain!

Ode To The Invisible Uni
by Scatsmom

Cheers to the Unis
who trudged through Atlas of the Ancients
(Those Unis possessing
The greatest of patience!)
Cheers to the Unis in the Obelisk War
Fighting for the Sway,
The Order, the Thieves and more!
Cheers to the Unis that fought
Alongside Hanso and Brynn;
Cheers to the Unis that helped them to win!

"What Unis?" you ask and I'll kindly reply,
"The invisible Unis, the bravest of them, aye."
Nightsteed was cursed; no more to be vain.
No pride in his looks as he tosses his mane.
The lesson has been passed down to this day:
If you want to fight for Neopia,
To be part of the fray,
You must remain hidden;
You must not be seen.
The rulers of Neopia
And others have deemed
That Unis are ever-happy
And frolicking at play,
Not 'pets to worry at the end of the day.
A Uni that wishes to defend his homeland
Must do so invisibly or fear the cursing hand.

Island, water, Maraquan, and spotted,
Plushie and jelly, but not polka-dotted,
All gorgeous colors, even brown!
But you can't be cursed if you can't be found.
So, three cheers for the invisible Uni,
Who fights on, despite anonymity.
Hip, hip. Hooray!
Hip, hip. Hooray!
Hip, hip. Hooray!
Today is your day!

Guardian Of The Skies
by Flufflepuff

She graced the sky with hooves of flame,
A fiery mane to match,
And golden stars that no child will
E'er be able to catch.

A dozing sunset slowed its breath
To sleep, then she did rise.
The weakened sun had tickled her
Mane ere she reached the skies.

But silent fell the sun to rest,
Having toyed with her mane.
She smiled and flew above the light,
Rejoicing as it waned.

The Uni knew it would return,
And scarce ruffled a wing
To scour the earth for wickedness,
Then justice she would bring.

The kindly, pale face of the moon
Saw the Uni's aim
And granted her a silhouette
That put the trees to shame.

Traveling faster than the stars
Above, those on her hide
Glowed e'er so slightly in the faint
Moonlight on which she'd ride.

The girl descended with the moon,
Her fire in disarray,
Cheeks blushing bright, a job well done,
As bright as coming day.

She did retreat to sleep, herself,
Beneath trees where she'd dwell.
The waking sun, though, tried to play
With the mane 't knew so well.

There she'd rest until night comes,
The guardian of the skies.
Once more she'll fly in harmony
With stars: once more she'll rise.

The Uni Who Wanted To Dance
by Tj_wagner

Lucy the Uni was a kind sort of soul,
And quite humble as far as Unis go.
She did well at school. She had lots of friends.
She did as she was told without silly demands.
To see her, most would think
That she had it all,
But there was one thing
She wanted most of all.

She wished to lace up soft shoes
And take to dance,
And she would have done it
Had she half had a chance.
But, as the dancer teacher told her,
In a voice so aloof,
Poor Lucy was born with four left hooves.
She feared it was hopeless.
A dancing star she’d never be.
But defeat was something
She didn’t take lightly.

She went to the Wishing Well
And tossed a Neopoint in,
And said, “I want to be
The greatest dancer there has ever been.
Make me graceful and elegant.
Let me jump and twirl,
And I will be the very happiest girl.”
She wished with all her heart for it to be so,
But the Wishing Well remained silent and cold.

Faerieland was next as she continued to ask
If anyone, anywhere could help with her task.
Yet each and every one -- even the queen,
Said that while they certainly
Didn’t want to be mean,
They didn’t have the power
To grant what she wanted them to.
Make someone a great dancer
They just couldn’t do.

Yet, while she traveled,
She continued to practice her steps,
And she found that
She had improved during her trek.
Her jumps still weren’t perfect.
She would still stumble.
But she was much better
Even with the occasion fumble.
She had put in the time
Despite what had been said,
And she had faced her fears,
And to success they had led.

Her story is simple
If you wish to hear all the rest.
She didn’t come home
And was suddenly the best.
But with time and effort,
She still made into a show
And this is example of how far effort can go.
You can’t simply wish to be better.
You have to just try.
Keeping working each day
And don’t let dreams die.
