FLOTSAM DAY SPECIAL
Plesio, Flotsam Captain of Tyrannia
By Nut862
Sleek of limb and swift of fin,
Short of tooth and long of nose,
Fighting's worn his body thin,
Fending off Tyrannia's foes.
Lean and strong and quick and tough,
Born of prehistoric seas,
Built to swim when water's rough,
In the cold he'll never freeze.
Though the war was about land,
Guarding the sea was vital;
One lone Flotsam took a stand,
Sea captain was his title.
For he was the captain of
The entire sea division;
While his comrades fought above,
Below, he made decisions.
When enemies came swimming,
Ready to bring the land death,
Plesio sent them skimming
Back into the sea's depths.
Till one day there came a cry
That he heard through the water:
"Come on out to where it's dry,
We've won; the war is over!"

Woes of the Flotsam Chef
By Anjie
Imagine this, my passer-by,
A chef of greatest fame.
In kitchens far and wide they know,
My dishes and my name.
In Maraqua, long ago,
"Genius!" they did say.
But those days passed and here I stand,
To cook the day away.
I do not feel, I'll tell you, friend,
Much credit comes my way.
"Just get me food!" that Mumbo yells,
And ambles on his way.
Not a thanks, a gift or grin,
Just "Make me more food fast!"
I'm forced to recruit idle folk,
Who just might wander past.
"Go and find me this!" I cry,
Then send them off so quick.
To seek ingredients I need,
While I watch the clock tick.
If they don't show (ungrateful things!),
It's me who'll get the blame!
It is my job, my life, you know?
To them? It's just a game.
"Oh Mumbo!" will I softly plead,
"The dish cannot be made!"
He'll throw a tantrum then, of course,
As I run off, afraid.
Once I was a famous chef,
So named in every book!
Now? I'm at his beck and call,
As simply "Mumbo's Cook."

Secrets from the Deep
By Cocoa_nut12
Fair's the blue moon that sweeps o'er the tide
Where quite startling secrets may hide
A mischievous glint
In the water's blue tint.
Dare swim in and perhaps we'll confide.
A dark cave hidden near the seafloor,
The old shipwreck with spooked corridors,
They're strange places to rove,
But we scour ev'ry cove,
And there's dozens we've yet to explore.
The light clouds say the day will be fair,
Although mischief is thick in the air.
The mysterious deep
Is a fanciful leap,
If by chance you enjoy a good dare.
Seaweed ribbons create a light veil,
Decorations make light through the pale.
Smell the salt on the air
As we Flotsams prepare
To present our best from fin to tail!
We're quite playful and friendly, no doubt,
But come trouble and we are sought out,
For we train with the best
And stand to the test
For the bravest of all, give a shout!
Some do ask us why we like it here,
True, there are many creatures to fear,
But we swim through the sea,
Knowing here we roam free
And our troubles 'neath waves disappear.

Flotsam Spy Watch
By Concertogreat_8
When little Flotsams play,
They like to wear dark suits today,
Blacked sunglasses and gold pins,
Bleached chalky-white fins.
They play at being spies,
And tell all kinds of dark lies.
There're tales told among the Flotsam group,
Rumours whispered over bowls of soup,
A story told to little pets who pay,
To keep the monsters held at bay,
Of the infamous Flotsam Spy,
And that clever, clever little lie.
All we have now is this old watch,
A black thing quite easy to botch,
Adorned with various glowing lights,
Dials click and turn, mesmerising sights.
The Flotsam Spy Watch, an accessory,
Is for growing pets a necessity,
Little eager Flotsam children,
Crowded in the younguns' pen,
Who always play at being spies,
And tell all kinds of dark lies.
If you're ever at the Flotsam store,
You might consider going behind that door,
The one in the back with the "No Entry" sign;
Scribbling your name on the dotted line,
The Flotsam with golden eyeglasses will hand,
And you will now own a glorified time-sand.

The Lurker of the Depths
By Dragonstorm_75
Its two sets of eyes, equalling six,
With pupils as black as the shining onyx.
Surrounded by pools of glorious gold,
Holding their secrets, as of yet untold.
The scales are long, as blue as the deeps,
Out of his maw, a green ooze seeps.
A tall and sharp horn does make itself known,
The shape of a cone, it stands there alone.
The fins are sharp, like webb'd claws,
Just like its cavernous, dangerous jaws.
It lurks in the depths, made by potent toxins,
A Flotsam it is, mutant by origins.
Created by Sloth's most morbid of efforts,
To make a perfect pawn, no matter the hurts.
And now we see success, swimming in the seas,
Upon sight one's heart does seize.
But fret not, dear reader, for I have some news,
The mutant Flotsam has different values.
Causing havoc the fellow indeed does not intend,
All it wants is one good, good friend!

Rise of the Zombie
By Icesmith
Eyes shoot open, devoid of hue,
Each reminiscent memory shrouded,
Fins coiled into fists, teeth glimmer,
What's left of a heart, clouded.
With a wag, the tail does flail,
Each movement lifeless and bland,
Each groan of despair, feared by all,
As the Flotsam charges the land.
All flee at the sight, scared and fearful,
Their lives at stake and more,
Fleeting homes, the lands do run,
The Zombie announces a roar.
All do shiver, questioning to whom
Such a sound would possibly belong,
And their ears all clench tight in disgust,
As the Zombie sings his dreaded song.
Flotsams usually swim, a myriad of imagination,
Yet this one appears to be full of hate,
Each tender movement sharp and hasted,
Picking out those to destroy their fates.
And so if it is heard, the roar of this Flotsam,
Do not wait, charge to safety, do not stay alone,
For the last you will hear as you run,
Will be the Zombie's ultimate moan.

The Underwater Celebration of Flotsam Day
By Jumperbean1
The Flotsam swims through the murky water,
Eyes sting with dirt.
It comes to the deepest cave that there is
And dives right into the pitch.
It swims through the cave,
Blinded by dirt and darkness,
Till it finds the light at the end of the tunnel.
It swims to the brightness and fun.
It comes to a celebration
Of Flotsams from far and near,
And as our Flotsam draws closer to the festival,
The celebrators crowd him
And cheer for the Flotsam
And his bravery.
It swims to the centre
Of all the commotion
And sits down at a table of other Flotsams,
And the Maraquans gather 'round,
And the Jetsams view from a distance,
And the Peophins hover above the table,
And the Koi watch shyly from the sharp rocks,
And the Nimmo gaze down from the water's surface.
And the Flotsams begin to feast.
The day draws on,
The parade marches by,
The feast ends,
The musicians head home,
And the sun sets beneath the bottom of the ocean.
All is silent,
All is peaceful.
Until...
BOOM!
Fireworks shoot up into the sky above them!
Sparks fly,
Colours of red, white, blue, green,
And yellow light up the dark sky.
And then it's over.
And the Maraquans and Jetsams and Peophins
And Koi and Nimmos go home.
But the Flotsams stay,
And amongst themselves
They celebrate
The last few hours
Of Flotsam Day.
Their day.

Liandra the Flotsam
By Kina105
In a realm of crystalline water,
Where a rainbow of coral grows,
Resides a Flotsam who was smarter
Than most of her fellow Flotsam heroes.
Sunlight penetrates through the calm surface,
Bathing her in its stark gold glow,
Threaded with joy, with pureness,
A leap she makes, eyes reflecting a rainbow.
The rainbow, an arc tinted with vibrant colours,
Its beauty rare, unmatched,
Suspending in the centre,
Of an azure sky, attached.
A splash is heard, foam sprayed,
The Flotsam swims away,
Across the seas, to glinting sapphire cascades
Along shores of sand touched by rays.
Seeking golden artefacts and colourful jewels,
Anything of worth that catches her eye,
Going as far as to comb the depths of pools,
Until she manages to make a good spy.
For she was Liandra, a famed treasure hunter,
A small Flotsam with sleek pink skin,
Her inky black eyes roving for things that glitter,
Tales of this Flotsam continue to spin.
Neopoints, circlets of valuable gold,
Have been earned,
Just from artefacts that have been sold,
Neopoints Liandra yearned.
If you manage to encounter Liandra,
The Flotsam Treasure Hunter,
You shall be in awe,
Dazzled by beautiful, glimmering embers
Of treasure she has hoarded.

Lumina (to a Gold Flotsam)
By Larkspurlane
To see her you must take a breath
And plunge 'neath the waters of Mystery Island:
Do it at noontide when the sun
Makes the sea into warm watered light
And your cares sink and slide away.
She seems but half-drawn,
Melting in the streaming yellow,
Golden as the lit globe of the sun --
A gold Flotsam, strange rarity,
A living sculpture fanning her
Bubbling life-breath in her quiet lagoon.
She beckons with a glistening fin --
"Sink low, sink deep,
Sink into this tide of dreams,
Come part these waves with me,
Come walk this firelit sea."
And off she floats in the cloud-foamed waves,
Toward an unknown shore --
Will you follow, traveller,
And swim into the sun
In one rapturous wave-sung song?

A Surprise for Plesio
By Pink_nautilus
Plesio sighs, eyes on the clock,
Counting each second until his day off.
He toils at the wheel, from day to day,
Handing out rather unimpressive pay.
"Oh, how could a Captain have come to this?
How I long for the sea, what splendour! What bliss!"
"The sea was a rabid, perilous state,
but it was no match for my sea-mates!
We felled any oppressive force!
It was the Tyrannian way, of course!"
Flooded with memories his eyes start to droop,
As he reminisces about that group.
Plesio awakes to the sound of waves
crashing into seaside rocks and caves.
He yawns and rubs his tired eyes,
And sees a crowd much to his surprise.
Sabre-X appears, leading the bunch,
Plesio must have slept in 'til lunch!
Sabre-X grins, patting Plesio's back.
"What? Did you think you were under attack?"
Plesio, still puzzled, stares with disdain
"Err, hold on, Plesio, let me explain...
We're here because we'd like to say,
We wish you a Happy Flotsam Day!"
