Gelert Day Special
My Gelert is a Good Boy
by revidove
My Gelert is a good boy;
He wags his tail,
He fills me with joy,
Even when I fail,
He brings me his favourite toy!
My Gelert is a good boy;
He is with me no matter where I go,
He is my best friend,
Even when I do not know,
He is willing to attend!
My Gelert is a good boy;
He rolls on his belly,
He runs super fast,
Even when he is a little smelly,
Together, we share something that will forever last!

Gilbert the Gelert Farmer
by aquaantoni
I once met a Gelert that knew how to cook.
He was yellow and slim, with a deep brooding look.
Pitchfork in hand, you know he works hard.
But this Gelert does more than just stand guard.
Gilbert the Gelert is quite the charmer.
He owns Meri Acres for he is a farmer.
But why does he farm in such a big place?
He grows various crops that need lots of space.
He owns three fields, of various shapes.
You’ll find lots of berries that go good in crepes.
One field is a circle, another is a square.
The last one a triangle with no room to spare.
The Square is the biggest of all his land.
It's crazy to think he maintains it by hand.
The Circle is second when it comes to size.
Explore it well if you want a good prize.
The Triangle field is smallest of all.
However the berries are not at all small.
So be sure to visit this Gelert’s farm.
“Pick Your Own” with the basket in your arm.
Over thirty berries await your pick.
Just watch out for dung, you don’t want any ick.
Visit him daily and avoid any junk.
You may get an avatar with a pic of this hunk.

Playtime for Baby Gelert (Neopian Book)
by iciclefaerie05
Wake up time for Baby Gelert,
What will you do today?
The park, the lake, the woods,
Where is the best place to play?
Reviewing the toys in the playroom,
Springy toys, squeaky ones, a Plushie or two,
So much fun in the toy bin,
Which one is right for you?
A Red Gelert Beach Ball!
Time to play in the sand,
Digging holes and splashing,
A day at the beach is always grand!
Yip, says Baby Gelert, when their tummy grumbles,
Time to head home for a meal,
Scarfing down a mustard hot dog,
And burping with a squeal!
Little yawns coming next,
Is it time for a nap?
Reading a little pop-up book,
Asleep in a snap!
The sun’s still up, it's time to play!
Baby Gelert barks,
Come and get me mama!
I want to see the park!
A short walk later over gravel and grass,
Baby Gelert's paws are dancing with delight,
The slide, the swings, the see-saw,
All get their turn, until the moon rises for the night!
Sweet dreams Baby Gelert,
How did you enjoy your day?
A slow yawn and a smile on their face,
A tiny chuff, the only thing to say.
Good night sleep tight,
Until tomorrow comes,
What fun will be in store?
Mama Gelert hums.

Gelert Day Party Ideas
by hfallyn
Neopia's most brave and loyal canine darling,
Deserves a party to leave any jealous pets positively snarling,
So, don your aprons and fire up your stoves.
These party recipes will bring guests in droves.
Start the morning off with some easy bakes.
Try the syrupy Spotted Gelert Day Pancakes.
But if you oversleep and need something quick on your tummy,
Gelert Day Cereal is fast and still oh-so-yummy.
As your festivities continue, you'll need a good lunch.
A Baby Gelert Mustard Hot Dog will do in a crunch,
But if you have a bit more time to prepare a big hit,
The Striped Gelert Ham and Cheese Sandwich will surely be it.
Now nearly a full day of celebrations passed,
Dinner is eaten and the best comes at last.
For dessert, try a gooey Rainbow Gelert Cupcake treat,
Or a minty Spotted Gelert Sundae to eat.
Don't forget: a long day of revelry can leave your guests quite dizzy,
Offer ice cool drinks; we suggest the Silver Gelert Fizzy.
If that's not to their taste, no offense should you take,
Simply offer a fruity Strawberry Gelert Shake.
When the sun has set and the party's end finally here,
Their bellies full, you'll find your guests in good cheer.
Thanks to great company and the most delicious cooks,
They'll declare this another Gelert Day party for the books.

Bruno’s Tale
by qeenoneo
Neovian by birth and Gelert by breed,
Bruno’s story is a sad one indeed.
He is a kind soul and did not deserve his fate,
he will never acquire his heart’s true desire in his current state.
A shy Gelert with a quiet disposition,
should never have been put in that position.
Crossing paths with the sly Mr. Krawley,
who sold him a mysterious potion, Bruno thinking ‘for me’?
He only wished to win Lily’s heart,
who kept turning him away right from the start.
She refused his advances and would not give Bruno a chance,
so he sought alternate means to alter his final stance.
A potion from Mr. Krawley promised a strong and athletic transformation,
but the mutant he became was missing key information.
The price he paid was steep and unfair,
out of town he must escape, but to where?
He found a cave and took residence there,
often on his mind is his family and Lily, but of her he should no longer care.
He was eventually reunited with Sophie, his long lost sister,
all thanks to Gilly, who he’ll now do everything for to assist her!

Woes of An Imperial Dad
by speed_e5
Emperor Yun is such a noble figure; a genuinely honest man.
But his role as a father is his greatest weakness and for his girls he does all he can.
He will often throw them such lavish parties that are always a must-see event.
For what good is imperial money, if for his loved ones it can't be happily spent.
They say Shenkuuvians know business because they love going into the numbers,
The empire follows certain disciplines and employ strict cost-cutting wonders.
Because even with reserves of treasures, in time funds can still exhaust,
For the emperor had twice the daughters which also meant twice the costs.
His advisor Hinchiro can help manage the country but his little girls are a bit too much.
They say kids can make you age faster, but at this rate they'd all need a clutch.
For the princesses not only crave shopping, but also seek adventurous thrill,
A emperor can command his subjects but a father can't just make his girls sit still.
Being emperor can be stressful, but being a father is twice as bad.
Because when you crunch all the numbers, it costs way more to be a dad.
Adding up the costs of all these Shenkuuvian festivities can be hefty to an extent,
So sometimes Shenkuu needs help from everyone with a little surprise progressive tax of 16.67 percent.

Royal Gelert
by roxanna203
Way up in the tower,
As tall as a skyscraper,
The height can make one cower,
And crumble like paper.
The Royalgirl Gelert smiles,
Looking out the small window,
She says "It's been a while,"
In a hard-to-hear tone quite low.
Her long ears perked to the side,
Purple locks that shine bright,
Smiling teeth so white and wide,
Partially blinded by the light.
"I have brought you the latest!"
Yells the Royalboy Gelert below,
A novel renounced as the greatest,
All the bookies are in the know.
With a pulley device the book is up,
The Royalgirl Gelert giggles,
Wanting to read without interrupt,
She waves the prince by in a wiggle!
A new story to devour,
She spends the day,
Reading in her tower,
With nothing else to say!

The Spellseeker's Mishap
by haleigh_2011
The Spellseeker rose before dawn,
His spectacles crookedly on.
He stretched his old bones,
His tomes stacked like stones,
And started his spell with a yawn.
He whispered of numbers and lore,
Of symbols scratched deep in the floor.
The candles burned blue,
The air hummed right through,
And the runes began glowing once more.
But halfway through verse number two,
His wand looked like something to chew.
The circle went POP!
Then BANG! then KER-PLOP!
And chaos came bursting right through.
His tennis balls bounced off the wall.
Some treats fell like rain in the hall.
His focus restored,
He looked at the hoard!
While objects continued to fall.
The Spellseeker blinked at the sight,
Of toys that had sprung into flight.
He dusted his hat,
Then chuckled at that,
“A fine Gelert Day spell, all right.”

Come out Spring! Come out!
by legiox
Her eyes dance open, chasing the morning light.
Though winter still presses its cold nose to the window,
this sweet, excitable little Gelert pup can feel something changing.
She sniffs the chilled air under the door,
she paws at it.
Earth! damp, but dappled with warmth!
Her paws tippy-tap, she’s ready to play.
When they hit the frosty ground they don’t stop!
She runs through the yard, her bark calling out
Wake up! Wake up grass, wake up flowers! I’m
READY for you!
The trees shake their droplets along with her song,
the flowers stretch upwards
reaching for the bright new light,
they greet her nose in full bloom.
Soon the world will warm,
it will soften, the sticks will be perfect for throwing
and the days will be longer!
More time for friends and more time for dashing.
This Gelert is certain
that if she wags her tail hard enough
spring will hurry
and bound out to meet her.

A Gelert Pup
by emiliexromance
There once was a Gelert pup,
Who tried for the Eating Contest Cup.
With pies stacked high,
He gave it a try,
And burped loud enough to wake Hubrid Nox up.
There once was a Gelert pup,
And he chased every Meepit he could spot,
But as soon as they squeaked,
He was quick on his feet!
And fled back home for a Carrot Lupe Treat!
There once was a Gelert pup,
Who dug Meridell arces up!
The Neopian Times sighed,
‘This pup cannot hide!’
And now he’s banned from Meridell’s crops!
There once was a Gelert pup,
And he acted all noble and tough,
But as soon as he heard a Lupe go ‘RUFF’
He ran and he hid,
And yells ‘OK! That’s enough!’
There once was a Gelert pup,
And he may seem all fierce and grown,
But, give him a Plushie,
A snack, or a cookie,
And he’s curled up like a king on his throne

Gilbert the Gelert
by piinkskullz
Have you met Gilbert?
He’s from Meri Acres Farm
He’s covered in dirt
But he’s still got charm
A Yellow Gelert
From beloved Meridell
He doesn’t smile often
But he’s pretty swell
He invites you daily
Onto his land
Picking 6 items
All chosen by hand
A berry! A boot!
Maybe an old piece of wool
For 400 Neopoints
Visit him, see what you pull!
He lends you his basket
Sadly leaves you alone
What about the berries?
Their location is unknown
A Gelert’s nose would be helpful
In a situation like this
And although his work ethic is unbreakable
Friendship is where he quits

The One with Healing Paws
by sir_serene
I visited him once late at night,
when I truly began to feel,
utterly under the weather
and my mind began to reel.
I sat upon those paper sheets
staring into that Gelert’s light,
in that sterile scented room,
bathed in fluorescent white.
“Oh doctor, doctor-
Please cure me of how I feel?
If you do then I promise I’ll never
again spin that accursed wheel.”
My stomach churned, it burned,
I felt far beyond feeling gross;
Patiently I waited for I yearned,
for the doctor to diagnose.
But I felt safe in his care,
I could sense it through his eyes-
That Gelert would do all he could
To return me to my healthy life.
I was more than
a puzzle for him to solve;
That Gelert with healing paws
was the kind to truly become involved.
He flipped through his charts
and I heard him mumble,
how he’d grown a heavy heart
watching me suffering from Grumbles.
The Hospital Gelert double-checked
just to be sure he wasn’t wrong,
then prescribed me four tablets
and my Grumbles, they were gone.

Song of the Gelert
by ybezinha
Across the painted fields of Neopia,
where lantern mushrooms glow at night
and wind runs softly through the grass,
a Gelert lifts its nose to the sky.
Flimsy ears like wandering banners
flutter in the evening breeze
Four strong legs, steady as courage,
carry it over hill and memory.
For a Gelert is not made for silence
It is made for footsteps beside another,
for muddy paws at the edge of adventure,
for waiting faithfully at the campfire’s glow.

The Brightest Gelert
by island80
My Gelert woofed for something new!
She’s tired of the same old Blue
She doesn’t want just any dye
But something that reflects inside
Should we set a Royal scene
With crowns and dresses fit for queens?
Or does she have a purple ruff
That’s Split with pretty orange fluff?
Maybe she’s more monochrome
And Red or Yellow when she roams?
Or does she prefer White or Grey?
What new paint could make her day?
Perhaps she gives most Pets a scare
With Mutant, spiky, green-brown hair
Or maybe Halloween’s her thing
With haunting ruby eyes that sting
None of these ones seem quite right
This Gelert’s heart is super bright
Maybe Island leaves will call
Or Faerie wings to break a fall?
I think I have the perfect thing
She doesn’t want big leaves or wings
Her heart is full of every hue
So only Rainbow paint could do!
Now she looks just like she feels
Her fur is dipped in pink and teal
And purple, orange, even green
The brightest Gelert ever seen!

Gilbert’s 12-Bar Blues for Gelert Day
by i_lovee_icecream
Gilbert the Gelert was berry pickin’,
Gilbert the Gelert was berry pickin’ at the Meri Acres Farm.
He was Sniddberry swimming in a Pile of Dung;
He dipped his fat little toes in there.
Gilbert the Gelert was berry pickin’,
Gilbert the Gelert was berry pickin’ at the Meri Acres Farm.
He was Strebbleberry swimming in a patch of clovers;
He dipped his fat little toes in there.
Gilbert the Gelert was garbage collectin’,
Gilbert the Gelert was garbage collectin’ at the Meri Acres Farm.
He was Bit of Barbed Wire swimming in a giant Piece of Wool;
He dipped his fat little toes in there.
Gilbert the Gelert was garbage collectin’,
Gilbert the Gelert was garbage collectin’ at the Meri Acres Farm.
He was Old Boot swimming in an old pile of rubbish;
He dipped his fat little toes in there.
Gilbert the Gelert was berry pickin’,
Gilbert the Gelert was berry pickin’ at the Meri Acres Farm.
He was Super Juicy Berry swimming in a row of bushes;
He dipped his fat little toes in there.
Gilbert the Gelert was berry pickin’,
Gilbert the Gelert was berry pickin’ at the Meri Acres Farm.
He was Spoogentberry swimming in his basket of berries;
He dipped his fat little toes in there.
Gilbert the Gelert was berry pickin’,
Gilbert the Gelert was berry pickin’ at the Meri Acres Farm.

Gilbert Gelert
by geneames1
Gilbert Gelert is a Neopets legend
A down to earth fellow with plenty of charm
He runs Pick Your Own, an amusing attraction
located in Meridell, down on the farm
For a single low fee you can pick up a basket
wander the aisles of bushes and muck
pick up an item which you can then keep
so why don't you visit and try out your luck
A varied array of berries are found there
Fishberries, Loveberries, Sniddberries too
But also old boots and some bits of barbed wire
you keep only articles special to you
A pile of dung, a Red Chiaberry
or possibly even a green four leaf Clover
So go visit Gilbert as soon as you can
give it a try - you'll be glad you went over!

The Unsung Gelert Hero
by catchinglights
In Neopia Central you may find,
a Gelert who is extremely kind.
He's the hospital's medical head,
And ailing pets will always find a bed,
Whether their stomach churns,
Or they are all covered in burns,
Or if they've just caught germs.
He knows the cure to every ail,
Over all ills he will prevail.
See this Gelert when you are sick,
And he will know just the trick,
To fix the problem no matter what,
Has you feeling down in a rut,
And out of the hospital you'll strut!
The Gelert doctor has no time to talk,
And a hospital is no place to gawk.
It's difficult to give him his due,
But if you happen to be passing through,
If it's not too far out of your way,
Pop into the hospital to say,
Have a happy Gelert Day!
