KOI DAY SPECIAL
Ode to a Koi
By Angelwater630
Among all creatures on this land,
From the shy to the esprit,
Few are found within the depths,
The fathoms of the sea.
Jetsam, Flotsam, find their niche,
Their living, and their joy;
But even they cannot compare
To what we name the Koi.
A flash of sun on shining scales
Is enough to say,
"A Koi is there, now hurry, look!
'Fore it vanishes away."
You may find him in the seaweed,
Or on a coral reef;
With scales arrayed in patterns,
A blue diamond motif.
A grid made out of silver
Dances across his skin,
Making him a meshwork
To a blue cobweb akin.
Or maybe he is scarlet,
A ribbon streak of rust,
Gliding through the water,
Bubbles rising up like dust.
Or even brightest yellow,
With scales of sunshine ray,
A happy cheerful color
Is the color of the day.
Or possibly with green scales,
A shining leafy shade,
Glowing like an emerald,
With spiny fins arrayed.
Blue or yellow, red or green,
With not a comment to annoy,
A graceful, sightly, friendly fish
Is the one and only Koi!

Koi Day
By Panril
Beached like the bloated Turmaculus
Atop a rock I gaze down into the briny sea
Pondering the city that resides beneath
The land-dweller's debris.
A kingdom built from patterned shells
Its citizens of fin and tail
Towers bright with coral bricks
King Kelpbeard with his sapphire scales.
Never one to forget wrongs easily
He trusts not those who breathe in air.
Far safer are the watery depths
For those entrusted to his care.
In this lies my great torment -
We are separated by brackish divide
A distance these paws cannot traverse
A distance this pet cannot abide.
When shall I ever see again
That cheeky grin on laughing face?
A witty mind so craftily hidden
By miles of ebullient grace?
Each year the golden cage is loosed;
Eagerly do I await the day
The Koi rise to greet the surface
And circle in the bay.

Koi-etry in Motion
By Wispendown
The sunlight danced on playful waves,
Frolicking amidst the sapphire crests.
While crystal liquid swept the paves
Of living coral streets in fest.
Then ripples summoned from the deep,
As aqua gems ignite with flare.
A swirling vortex breaks the sleep,
Of the sea's smooth calming air.
Leaping from Maraquan beds
Of shimm'ring groves of fronds.
A glistening scaly Neopian head
Spirals forth from nature's pond.
Swirling fins, they glint and gleam,
Twisting beryl scales catch light.
Fluid body, like in a dream,
Towards the sun, takes flight.
For a moment, Time stops its race,
The glistening Koi suspended high
In mid-spiral leap of grace,
Then arc-ing, Time starts with a sigh.
Spinning, plunging, diving down,
Dipping 'neath cerulean plane,
Spreading ripples, speckled foam,
And showers of glimm'ring rain.
A squirt of water arcs the air,
As playful Koi emerges,
The sun is shining, weather fair,
As the celebration surges.

A Koi World
By Flutedad
Ocean home beneath great waves
Glide through seas sapphire blue
Dip then rise through coral caves
A world where something's always new
Orbs of air great bubble clouds
Call me like some siren's song
Seaweed forest all emerald shrouds
Conceal me as I glide along
Treasure guarded by water deep
Sparkly glint from pirate's chest
Wealth that other pets may seek
Little meaning once possessed
Soar through liquid clear and cool
Currents steer past island roots
Pfish dart off a smoky school
Jetsam chase in grave pursuit
Greater depths grow dim grow cold
Seeking worlds long lost from view
Darkness demands assurance bold
Anxiety comes with all things new
Turn toward light and water clear
I leap above a crashing wave
Adventure far or excitement near
New places new things all Koi crave
Land creatures feel their world is best
No loss when the lack we do not see
North then South, East then West
But up and down would make them free

The Treasure Raider
By Anjie
A ruined realm is what remains
Of city once so fair.
Maraqua is a shadowed wreck,
And Karpoh wanders there.
Sent to scavenge what is left,
Which treasures will he find?
Between the crumbling city walls,
Does small Koi swim and wind.
Fins do lift up every rock
To find what he does need.
Riches may be hidden there,
Beneath the dark seaweed!
Relics of a time long gone,
Do treasures dwell within?
Far above, the whirlpool stirs,
So frenzied does it spin.
Karpoh must keep wits alert,
Small Koi with nerves of steel!
Wicked beasts do haunt the maze,
And seek him for a meal.
Sent by pirates to raid here,
On mission, he's deployed.
Find the goods and bring them back,
Whilst danger, he'll avoid.
Raider of the treasures lost,
A risk he does enjoy.
In a deadly game of luck,
We'll find this daring Koi!
