UNI DAY SPECIAL
The Nightsteed
By Kitokat_mh
The day does drift by with ease,
A blue Uni trotting in the sun.
No one suspects any foul play,
He looks normal to everyone.
But when dusk engulfs the desert,
His disguise can now be dropped.
He glows with such an ambiance,
His power cannot be stopped.
His colour darkens, his eyes glow red.
Sparking flames sprout from his feet.
Rotting bandages wind around him,
The transformation is complete.
A terror throughout the Lost Desert,
Hated by some and feared by most.
His eyes send terror through their spines,
And they run as if they'd seen a ghost.
Stalking merchants and scaring thieves,
Inciting fear everywhere he goes.
Said to be two hundred years of age,
But in truth no one really knows.
His only companion is Jazan,
Who is the only being he does trust.
His loyalty lies with him forever,
To help Jazan he does what he must.
This creature is truly terrifying,
He really is a curious breed.
Be careful on those desert nights,
Or face the terror of the Nightsteed!

Nightsteed's Arrival
By Kublakhan27
Over yellow Sakhmet's plain
wafts the smell of something burning,
unbeknownst to its poor citizens
whose heads are tightly turning
to the stranger on his horned steed
who just rode through the gates
with no sense of urgency or hurry,
for his morbid beast dictates
the pace at which they run their errand,
and it's clear the beast intends
to draw attention like a magnet
from all lands on which he descends.
And it seems he even has the sun
distracted from afar
with glistened rays devoted to
his bone-tipped wings scratched up and scarred.
His blackened skin does smite the sun
sure as it does the Sakhmet folk.
His horn does threaten like a weapon
with more sharpness than a poke,
but there'll be no need to hook the sun
upon his exit from this town.
The smitten sun will follow
and upon the people, night will touch down,
then the burning smell will surface in their noses
but the clues to where it came from
will be hidden,
for the dark by then will have concealed
the charred hoofprints of where
the steed of night had ridden!

Tournament of Royal Steeds
By Anjie
To crowds does royal trumpet call,
The game begins, come one and all!
The royal match will be a show,
Each noble steed will face his foe.
In stalls do regal Unis wait,
Then each trots out with prancing gait.
Beyond a castle do they meet,
Horns are shining, hooves are fleet.
With sound of trumpet do they rear,
Then canter forward as all cheer.
Each clothed in cover sewn so fine,
Those long groomed manes do flow and shine.
In center line they'll soon meet up,
And he left standing, wins the cup.
A duel of royal Uni kind,
A champion, it seeks to find.
For he who wins, and he alone,
Is worthy ruler of the throne.
With wicked clash they come to blows,
Each clashing horn now shines and glows.
Until surrender, do they fight,
To win the prize takes noble might.
And when one noble steed backs down,
His worthy foe shall win the crown.

Uni Beauty
By Numbertwelve
Vain to a fault,
Though her beauty would halt
Even a casual
Passerby.
Chestnut brown mane
Will most certainly gain
The approval of all
Neopians.
As she strides on by,
Not a single eye
Would think to turn
Away.
For though she's vain,
And often a rather royal pain,
No one denies she's
Beautiful.
With equine grace,
She moves across the place
To where a crowd is
Gathering.
For they are there,
They've come to share
In the beauty of
Uni Day!

Uni Dreams
By Natasha_nguyen
Fast and free, a flying streak,
Mane and tail streaming back,
Hooves just skimming the starlit ground,
Feathered wings quickly flap.
Eyes of moonlight, shining stars,
Horn a spear of crystal ice,
Breath of sugared, delicate flowers,
Fur a torrent of fragrant spice.
A mane of soft and silky strands,
Pure and clean of pain and strife,
Wind whispers through its feathers,
Hooves lifted with the wonder of life.
You approach the pet standing there,
Breath held in your throat,
For it gives off a definite aura
Filled with energy, faith, and hope.
You touch the hide of fresh spring grass,
It sees you, eyes filled with love,
And when it allows you to touch its face
Light seems to come from up above.
When the velvet touches your hands
You reach to stroke the rainbow wings,
Caress the tip of pure power,
Share the happiness the Uni brings.
You jerk from your pleasant slumber,
Disappointment fills your heart,
The Uni can never be touched again
For you and her are so far apart.
A hope, a wish, a wonderful dream,
The perfect creature under
The silver-white moon,
Something you will never see
During the real world's afternoon.
And as you again fall asleep,
You see the night sky, ever so bright
And hear the whisper of distant wings
How brilliant the stars are to-night!
And yet as your eyes slowly close
Something dances among the clouds,
Magic swirling from a shining horn,
A mantle of gold, a dazzling shroud.
Fast and free, a lightning streak,
Mane and tail streaming back,
Hooves just skimming the starlit ground
Feathered wings gently flap.
Silver trail of tiny stars
Rising sun's light in its lustrous eye,
Pet of enchantment ever after
A Uni soars in the sky.
