Bitten
By Shgiusdhioasr

We went down last week,
My Cleaby and I,
To the Fresh Foods store (shop number one)
For a Negg and a leek,
A nice hearty pie,
And some slices of seaweed bacon.

As I strolled past the fruits,
I was caught by surprise
By the oddity there on the aisle.
I was shook to my roots
And believed not my eyes -
'Twas a Bitten Red Apple-filled pile!

Now, please don't mistake
The issue at hand -
I've no problem with apples, you see.
Why, I've had them in cake
Or slices or canned -
But bitten's still startling to me.

So I called the shopkeep
(That guy in a bib)
Who assured me that nothing was flawed.
He said, "Look - they're cheap!
And I'm not being glib,
But some pets prefer food that's pre-gnawed."

He continued and said,
"They are bit by a pro -
He's the star of the game Hungry Skeith.
The bite brings out the red -
Just look at it glow!
And he's got such aesthetic-shaped teeth!"
But I'd lost appetite,
As I loudly confessed,
From the poor sanitation I'd seen.
He replied, "Yeah, you're right.
I guess you're not impressed -
How about bitten apples in green?"

Max Takes On the Snowager
By Niffyorange

For weeks he begged me "Let me fight!"
Yet just the thought filled me with fright
"You're still too young, maybe tomorrow."
He looked at me, eyes full of sorrow.

He cried to me "It isn't fair!"
And I replied "It's 'cause I care,
My only pet" (with a small sigh)
"If you got hurt I just might die!"

Yet gradually he wore me down
So I agreed, with a deep frown.
The next morning he left our home
On his way to the Battledome.

We weren't rich, we were very poor,
So he had snowballs, three or four;
A wooden shield for his protection;
And a plushie, for affection.

I wrung my hands in my concern,
And felt my stomache start to churn.
Foolish Max, he knew no better,
So he challenged the Snowager!

The huge snake reared his ugly head
And hissed, "In moments you'll be dead!"
Max was scared but he stood tall
And boldy hurled his first snowball.

The serpent brushed the sphere away.
Had he lost a hitpoint? Hard to say.
It didn't matter, he'd win for sure.
He had six hundred ninety nine more.

The beast launched two quick ice attacks.
On my baby, my precious Max!
He dodged the first, but not the second.
"It's all over," I sadly reckoned

Max was weakened beyond repair,
To look was painful; I didn't dare.
It was hopeless, poor Max was toast!
He had a minute left, at most!

What happened next was something funny,
At that moment it got quite sunny!
The sun emerged from behind a cloud
The ugly serpent stood up proud:

"Are you dead yet? This is exhausting!
Oh my Sloth, am I defrosting?"
The snake shrieked, yet for all his yelling
He couldn't stop his painful melting:

"This cannot be! My lovely ice!
This isn't fair! This isn't nice!
I'm dripping, oh I'm getting hotter-"
But then he was a pool of water.

Hooray! Brave Max was victorious!
He wasn't dead! Oh, how glorious!
My Max grinned and said "Oh, what fun!
I'd love to do another one!"

The Day My Pet Turned Grey
By Abfabeddie

She used to soar upon feathers bright,
The colourful spirit rode alongside,
I could touch the blazing fire in her mane,
Now the painting is gone, it's not the same.

Her radiance was bewitched into gloom;
She turned into grey on that day of doom.

In Neopia, there was a rainbow
On the day happiness turned to sorrow.
I recognized her doubt in the lab ray;
She feared her colour would give way to grey.

Her happiness was bewitched into gloom;
She turned into grey on that day of doom.

The flowers flittered with every move,
The Petpets frolicked around her hooves.
She used to fool around with the Faeries;
Her thrill merges into a sigh these days.

Her brilliance was bewitched into gloom;
She turned into grey on that day of doom.

Her mourning red eyes see a blue tear
Whenever a rainbow pet comes near.
"Why am I so sad?" she asks dismally.
I explain her grey makes her melancholy.

Her dreamlike life was bewitched into gloom;
She turned into grey on that day of doom.

Shabby though her coat is, her soul lives on,
Grey though her eyes are, the twinkle still shone.
Neopets in the world, it's love they need;
No matter their colour, culture or creed!

Insight into Light
By MaoinAingeal

That Illusen, she's no sister of mine!
She disgraces us Faeries all of the time.
The way she treats those lowly pets
Never earned us any respect.

She claims that I'm the evil one,
When really I've only just begun.
Illusen's the darker one, you know.
She never lets old arguments go.

I am resplendent in my glory,
So now I'll tell you the whole story.
She's building a weapon, to be used against me;
While my collection will be used defensively.

I'm protecting Neopia from her threat.
Now all Neopians are in my debt.
Everyone should accept my quest,
Simply because I reward them best.

If they decide to help Illusen,
I have great curses to put upon them.
They'll find that I'll make quite a din,
All because they helped her win!

The Piratical Yurble
By Ibeenbad

The air was as silent as a watery tomb,
A night for the pirate, it seemed in the gloom
As fog rolled over the dock and the quay,
The Piratical Yurble came out to plunder and play.

His ship was the stuff
Of which nightmares are made,
Swarming with scavengers
Who were ready to raid.
The prow of the ship bumped right into the dock,
As the single night watchman
Began to shiver with shock.

Then over the sides
Came the whole ghastly crew,
Up to the town those scurvy knaves flew.
With no care for the noise,
They pillaged and plundered,
As the Piratical Yurble's booming voice
Then did thunder.

"Gather the treasure!" he said with a leer,
"Fill up your pockets and then get back here"
Those pirates moved quickly,
Leaving nothing behind,
Not even a piece of a week old pork rind.

As quick as they came,
They turned and were gone,
That dreadful old ship swiftly moving right on,
And into the pages of history
They sailed right on through,
That Piratical Yurble and his whole thieving crew.
