Maraquan Paradise

Bubbles escape the broad muzzle,
The faint ripple of azure air,
Floating in this strange abyss,
So heavenly, so fair.

Sunlight dances on long, winding weeds,
Reaching toward the sun,
Stalks of trailing, wind-swept reeds,
Paradise has begun.

Round spheres of clearness,
Floating up to the skies,
Gently fogging the endless lands,
Clouding soft brown eyes.

Whiskers quiver in the flowing breeze,
Emerald stands brushing at its belly,
No longing 'mongst the swaying trees,
No hunger,
Nor thirst,
Just a floating, pleasing joy.

A pang hits deep within its lungs,
And bubbles rise above,
Kicking off the sandy earth,
Soaring upward,
Like a dove.

Sun rippling just ahead,
The world becoming strangely warm,
Sleek was this creature's head,
Breaking the writhing surface,
Floating with its head just above the ocean's rim.
A grimace on its face...

Then without a sound the creature disappeared,
Beneath the surface it soared,
Free once more in its paradise,
To soar, forever, never bored...

Draik

Lady Draik on mountain stands,
Gazing upon the verdant lands,
Moving slow, two Kaus are grazing,
In the sun a Skeith is lazing.

She takes to the air
With certain flair,
Blue wings steady,
Tense and ready.

Looking down
She spots the town,
And she circles low
With bag in tow.

She sees a store
Called "Lost in Lore"
And walks right in.
Above the din,

She hears a voice:
"This is your choice."
In the bag there is a stone
With magic that is unknown.

She hands the stone, and gets a map,
Sealed with unruly sap,
Then, off and away she flies
To distant and uncharted skies.

Deep is the chasm,
The morbid ravine,
Drowned in the darkness,
Unable to scream.

I sit and I wait
For someone to come,
But no one can save me
From what I've become.

The shadows are dense,
Foreboding and black,
And I know in my heart
That there's no going back.

I try to draw comfort,
But bleak is my mind,
I'm trapped in a prison
That no light can find.

Soaked are my eyes
From merciless tears,
To have been so alone
All these torturous years.

The Queen of Darkness

We hear her high cry
Through the twists and the turns,
The flash of the eyes and the cackle that burns,
She screams when we fail and laughs at our pain,
We cry and we cry and we try to stay sane.

She knows all our secrets and lures in the weak,
She brings in the lonely, the little and meek,
She whispers them in with her smile so sour,
She offers protection and limitless power.

When all is lost and nothing is found,
They follow the trail to lost empty sound,
Some go to her when it claws in their soul
They beg and they plead
And like Petpets they will roll.

The Faerie of Darkness is a queen indeed,
She lies and she cheats and nothing she'll heed,
Though temptation is clear and bitter is true,
The question is: will she curse you too?

Through the Depths of Old Maraqua

I've traveled through the depths of a fallen city,
I've seen the wonders that it used to hold,
I've heard the emptiness of the water,
I've smelt the luster of its gold.

I've passed the rocks and the gentle shells,
I've touched the sand upon the floor,
I've swam through the ruins of the palace,
I've felt the nothingness of its core.

I've sat with the lonely statue of sorrow,
I've thrown the pebbles of cold,
I've fled from the creature of anger,
I've dwelt with the tales untold.

I've seen these all but in a flash,
I've seen them all too swift,
I've planned to return to it once again,
But for now I flow with the drift.
