Happy, happy Meerca Day:
a day for pets who love to play. 
It only happens once a year,
so jump for joy, and let out a cheer!

They’re a popular pet for good reason;
with a variety of colours, there’s one for every person or season.
Fun-loving and adorably furry,
they love to prank, chase, bounce, and scurry. 

They might be small, but don’t dismiss them.
Their tails are impressive, and it’s quite hard to miss ‘em. 
They’re known for speed and sheer dexterity;
what they lack in height, they make up for in personality. 

Although they may not be limited edition,
this lovable pet makes the perfect addition.
So take some time to stop by the Pound,
You’ll leave with a Meerca, and your frown turned upside down!

A Strawberry Meerca in a Raspberry Field

A Strawberry Meerca in a raspberry field:
He looks around him and he feels so alone,
For all of the berries these bright bushes yield
Are not the sweet berries he's loved and he's known--

His soil, his leaves, were the worlds that he knew;
Between them, he felt brave, agile and clever,
And with the warm sunshine and fresh morning dew,
He promised to love his Strawberry Fields Forever!

But then he was picked! Plucked right from the stem!
And put in a basket and carried away!
And suddenly sunshine felt distant and dim
And all he could do was wilt in his dismay, 

And as he sank down...he literally sank down
Through a hole in the basket no one had known was there, 
And then he did land on some soft, fertile ground;
He landed somewhere safer and sweeter -- but where?

He then looked around at the raspberry field--
No Neopets here, no sweet summer song, 
Just berries -- the boring, unsentient kind, 
Not somewhere this Meerca could ever belong...

...but he felt the warm sun, and he felt the soft green,
And he felt his red skin become thicker and tough,
And felt his leaves grow, and he felt so serene--
Sure, it's not home, but it could be enough, 

So a Strawberry Meerca in a raspberry field,
He looked around him and he took in the day
And he waved as his raspberry friends, and he feels
That maybe, just maybe, he would be okay.

Meerca Brothers

In the quiet of the night they move,
With not an ounce of resonation.
Quickly now, they near the castle of the king,
Focus honed onto their destination.

Now at the walls of the white gates,
They breach with not a moment to lose.
Higher and higher they ascend,
They have reached the pinnacle of their ruse.

Swiftly they climb into the open window,
First Heermeedjet, then his blue companion.
Slinking through the hallways draped in darkness,
At last their gaze meets the rubied stallion.

In a blink of the eye the tethered brothers vanish.
Leaving no trace, but an emptied vault.
What once held the esteemed treasures of Meridell,
Has now been marked by their infamous assault.

The Mysterious Meerca

I passed by a red Meerca the other day
He tipped his hat and turned the other way
I tilted my head in utter confusion
And rubbed my eyes—- was that an illusion?

In fact, that Meerca wore no hat at all
As he bounced away on his tail quite tall
I noticed the Negg balancing on top of his head
Rainbow colours contrasting against his fur of red

I followed the Meerca down the road
I hid behind poles and even a garbage load!
“Where could he be going with that Negg on his noggin?”
I followed the Meerca, and I started joggin’!

He hopped rather quickly as if he were late
I started to run now—- I wish I had my skates!
I followed him through town and into the wood
If I weren’t so invested, I’d stop if I could…

But I followed that Meerca to a small meadow
With flowers and butterflies flying high and low
And in that meadow the Meerca jumped high
And he and his rainbow Negg flew into the sky!

The Meerca kept going up, up, and away
I sat there for a minute, but it felt like a day
And just like that he disappeared in the sky!
I sat on the grass and let out a deep sigh.

The Meerca was gone, and the Negg was gone, too
I twiddled my thumbs, as I had nothing better to do…
Then out of the clouds, the Negg tumbled below,
And out of it’s falling path came a beautiful rainbow

So if you were wondering how colours get so high in the sky,
Let’s thank the mysterious Meerca who happened to hop by!

Marvelous Magical Meercas

A Meerca is furry fuzzy and fun
it can stand on two feet and play in the sun
It is not very tall 
in fact except for those two front teeth 
it is quite small

Meercas are amusing 
and it can be quite confusing
one moment they are standing on their feet
and the next they are on their tails bouncing
down the street

If you are looking for a Meerca never fear
they can be spotted far and near
They are always out looking for a friend 
for tricks they love to play until the days end

Meuka: Be Nice To This Meerca

Your neopet’s sniffles and snuffles begin,
You think it’s just your pet’s allergies within,
But alas! Eyes widen as on the floor plops,
From your poor pet’s nose, Meuka and his snot glops.

Meuka looks up at you and your pet reaching out,
Face drooping straight down in a disappointed pout,
As you snatch up your pet and clutch at them before,
Meuka opens his mouth and snarls “now this is war!”

As you run to the pharmacy, Healing Springs, the dessert,
Meuka slithers down to the ground, tail wrapped ‘round, feeling hurt,
Sad Meuka, all he wanted to do was come out today
And ask if, perhaps, you and your pet wanted now to play?

For Meuka, you see, has never had friends.
A look at him scares away all.
If only one could see past green snot
They’d see a mean meerca he’s not.

Meerca Mania

Attention, all Neopians!
Do you know what's today?
We celebrate the Meerca,
Whose species day is at bay!

Their long tails are bouncy,
And their nature is sly.
When chasing tasty Neggs,
All their worries fly by!

You may know some celebrities,
Who are Meercas too!
Such as Chuffer Bob and the Meerca Brothers,
And I guess Meuka counts... achoo!

So many colours to choose from,
Which one should I pick?
From Maraquan to Tyrannian,
Maybe Jelly might do the trick!

One of my favourite Meercas happens to be
The Crumpetmonger herself.
With all the apple tarts she bakes,
I think I should rebuild my wealth!

We only celebrate Meercas
For a day 24 hours long.
I think it should be forever,
And nothing can go wrong!

I have to celebrate my Meercas,
Or else their mood will turn grey.
So until then, so long.
I'll see you next Meerca Day!

Chuffer Bob's Stomach of Steel

Pies, cakes, and candies galore!
He can eat that,
And a whole lot more!

Chuffer Bob is first to whine
As soon as the clock
Approaches dinnertime. 

"Oh my! Can it be
That time again?!
I'm so very hungry!"

Pastries, potatoes, and cheese - 
Glorious victuals - 
Just no broccoli, please. 

Chuffer Bob never stops to think, 
Eating until he's sick 
And his furry face is pink. 

Goodies are great once in a while - 
Roast, rolls, and rice 
Will make your tummy smile. 

But veggies, dear Bob, 
Will help you, too,
And from your health not rob!

So, enjoy your cake
On Meerca Day,
But in your fruits you should also partake!

An Ode to Meerca Chase

With many years of practice, I have learned how to play
This wonderful flash game, day after day
I have learned to play it with beauty and grace
Of course, I am talking about Meerca Chase

Some people enjoy surfing the pound
This Meerca enjoys going around and around
Collecting the Yellows, Blues, and all types of Neggs
Keeping an eye out, and dodging all the Reds

Sometimes the Reds just appear everywhere
But the Meerca dodges, with so much flair
The tail is quite long now; it is quite a scene
Almost no room to move, the tail takes up the whole screen

Moving deftly, the Meerca dances around showily
But sometimes the score just goes up so slowly
Meerca Chase, please, just grant me one wish:
Stop with the Yellow Neggs; give me a Fish!

A Meerca Brothers Surprise

Two infamous brothers, notorious thieves,
Try to do a good deed, but no one believes;
That these two could change, or somehow reform,
Heermeedjet & Merouladen arrive, but reception is lukewarm.

A Meerca Day parade is no place for tricks,
The crowd gasps, with many Neopians transfixed. 
One brother clad in red and the other in blue,
What devious games will these two pursue? 

Could it be a petty theft, or a carefully planned heist;
Will The National Neopian’s riches be sacrificed?
These two tricksters look like they have something in-store;
Have The Meerca Brothers come to settle a score?

They break through the crowds, smiling ear to ear,
“Today will be different, didn’t you hear?”
The brothers take to the street, throwing neopoints about;
“Have a very Happy Meerca Day!” they loudly shout!

Theories on the Origin of Meuka

The Gallery of Evil describes how Meuka's origins are unknown.
As more time passes, the number of theories have only grown.
In honour of Meerca Day, below are some of the favourites -
As you review some of the mysterious theories, be sure to savour it.

Could Meuka have gained his colouring via a paintbrush experiment gone wrong?
Perhaps Jacko mixed a speckled colour with a green colour too strong?
Was this super-secret mucus paint brush used just one time?
Forming this mutated meerca and inspiring his life of crime?

Or is Meuka an infamous and unique Dr. Sloth creation?
Perhaps invented on the one and only Virtupets Space Station.
It could also be due to the mad lab ray scientist and his zaps,
A miscalculated calibration leading to an unfortunate lapse.

The theories continue with the consumption of excess meuka drops!
Perhaps an innocent meerca with a cold bought too many from the spooky foods shop.
Or maybe Kauvara sneezed on a morphing potion a customer bought,
Leading to a newly morphed meerca covered in snot.

Though many theories exist, we may never truly know
What led the notorious Meuka to look like so.
We may always wonder what led Meuka down this path of evil and bad...

It is Always a Fun Time with Meercas
