KAU DAY SPECIAL
Roxy was not bred perfectly
Nor polished from toe to ear
She has never seen a paintbrush
And runs, not fights, in fear
She was given up by someone else
I found her looking sad
Her price was cheap, her fur was dull
She couldn't afford an ad
It has been hard, with Roxy and I
Neopoints come one at a time
She feeds at the Soup Kitchen
That and Cup-O-Slime
But Roxy has a single dream
For which she cleans and cooks
She wishes to be intelligent
And so I buy her books
Oh Roxy, I know one day
You walk the streets so proud
Other Neopets will say
There goes one smart Kau
It seems the most celebrated
Kau on Kau Day,
Is that clever Miss Kauvara,
Because she always gets her way.
With her pretentious, petty potions,
And charismatic, chaste charade,
She takes all the attention
In a ludicrous masquerade.
But what about me? Poor Kalora?
The dazzling, dainty dame?
The charming, Cheat! champion,
Don't I share in my species' fame?
Some people call me conceited,
But what's wrong with being proud?
I deserve as much adoration,
As Kauvara is allowed!
My perfect pelt is pristine,
My enamored eyes so alight.
My fashion is fresh and fascinating,
My disposition decidedly bright!
My hooves are trimmed to a faultless shine,
My tail brushed in lovely tresses.
I'm beautiful, courageous, and kind, don't you see?
The world should celebrate my successes!
My skills are unmatched and envied,
And my grace affords me renown.
I'm better than best, and best in the rest,
I've earned every jewel in my crown.
So please, Neopia, spare a word!
Kauvara just isn't up to par.
It's me, modest Kalora, who is your queen,
The splendid, sparkling star!
The sky is dark, the sand is gold
The desert night is pale and cold
With silver charm the stars unfold
Upon the wind with rise and fall
A voice of wisdom does enthrall
A fortune-teller's tuneful call
Her tent is silken, gossamer, thin
A sputtering lamp is lit within
Illuminating a slender grin
Across her face a veil is drawn
Lithe and graceful as a swan
A Kau with fur the shade of dawn
Hair the color of a rose
Swishes past; and something glows
Within the misty murk that flows
A pink hoof motions to come near
And all the dust motes disappear
As she looks into her crystal sphere
Within it swirls a midnight breeze
As distant as the far-off seas
She looks inside the orb and sees...
...And lets the vision deep abate
She knows what the future will create
Kau Fortune Teller, friend of fate
Ode to the Royal Kau
Queen of Hoof and Golden Hair,
Let me see your green cape flair,
Billowing behind fur cream,
And sunny eyes so serene.
King of Tail and Tall Crown,
Crimson face creased by no frown,
Spotted fur around your face,
Do you need silk and lace?
Twin rulers with a sense of grace,
And diplomatic air,
Please take me to your palace so-
The grass is greener there!
Sun rising up all aglow in the 'morn
Four hooves swishing tail and a really sharp horn
Kaus gather in meadows forming a ring
Slowly and softly they each start to sing
In circles Kaus stand in the midst of the glade
A long moo a short moo forms this serenade
The song sounds so sad as they moo out the tune
A bittersweet strain that only Kaus croon
As the sun slowly climbs and warms the soft grass
The Kaus start to sway and move in a mass
They rock back and forth as they sing their sad song
A wavering ring as their mooing along
Then suddenly each Kau performing on cue
Lets loose a great bellowing final Kau moo
Then each Kau turns away and walks off to eat
The morning Kau chorus is finally complete
Slowly Kaus scatter in pastures of green
And commence their daily grazing routine
Some day come listen as they moo in the day
Hear them greet the new morning in a musical way
