DISCOVERY OF MERIDELL

Rebuilding Meridell
By Mailiegirl

Radiant in the sunbathed morn
Though times of evil left it torn
A city of legends piece by piece
Repairing damage of old time's demise

In early sun a farm, again,
Begins to sprout through rubble's sand
And berries once again are grown
So soon you can go 'pick your own'

While in the very heart of things
The noise of fun and bustle rings
There's Illusen's Glade if you can spare some time
And games of Ultimate Bullseye

Go south, it seems like nothing's changed
A castle where gleaming wealth does bathe
And a grumpy king sits upon his throne
Yawning as you tell your joke

But though times have improved, none forget
The shadow looming as a threat
A dark reminder of when battle fell
Over the peaceful, prosperous Meridell

The Fall of Meridell
By Shadowplay_ako

When over the distant hills,
The peasants working in the vale,
When princes and Lupe knights dwelt
Among the towers of the golden citadel,
Lay the ancient city of Meridell

When Illusen the faerie come down from the sky,
Flowers and sunlight in her wake,
To protect the Noble of heart she vowed
But powerful though her magic may be
It could not stop the fall of Meridell

A shadow soon spread over the land
And the flowers would not grow
The people stared as the sky grew black,
Unable to run or to hide
From the darkness of Darigan's eyes

The king tried to rally the people's support
By speaking words brave and true
"Fear not, my friends, for Evil shall not," he said,
"Beat that which in the heart remains
We have naught to fear today."

But that night Evil did indeed succeed
As creatures horrible and wicked of heart
Descended unto the merry vale,
The land of so many a cheery tale
And then laid the castle bare

The warriors fought with all their strength
'Gainst the creatures full of hate
And even Illusen joined in the fight
But all efforts were in vain,
Evil Darigan could not be slain

The once verdant land was now so bleak,
Neither field nor flower grew,
And Darigan in his darkened Citadel
Cruel and barbaric in his ways
Lorded over the poor city of Meridell

Many years passed in the vale
And the hardy citizens lived on
Never forgetting those who fought
To protect the land they loved,
Remembering the Last Stand of Meridell

Meridell's Mage
By Plumgrove

Through chambers set within a castle white
A diamond in the lush and emerald land
The mage of Meridell shines a graceful light
As deft enchantments weave about her hand

Protector of her home upon the grass
As much as shining knights with silver swords
Her keen eyes glinting 'neath transparent glass
Her incantations wrought of wisest words

And as her brother's girt with shield and helm
The Aisha slight a wand of power wields
Her arts are all devoted to her realm
She looks with love upon the verdant fields

Magic lights the face of Lisha, scanner
Of Meridell's blue and red and golden banner

The Day of Knights
By Parmadur

In Meridell, the home of strength and light,
A cheer resounds as Unis gallop by -
Each Neopet today can be a knight.

The brave Jeran salutes in armor bright,
While peasants shout his name in glad reply
In Meridell, the home of strength and light.

From royal lord with cloak of purest white
To humble farmer, buttons done awry,
Each Neopet today can be a knight.

King Skarl smiles broad - for once -
From throne and might
To see his subjects dancing 'neath the sky
In Meridell, the home of strength and light.

Today permits no strife, no jibe or fight,
But all are chivalrous to low and high:
Each Neopet today can be a knight.

Remembering discovery of this site,
Let's mount our steeds with courage in our eye.
In Meridell, the home of strength and light,
Each Neopet today can be a knight.

The Sounds of Meridell
By Anjie

Whistling wind parts emerald blades,
The meadows dance in time.
Ivory, the castle stands,
A sentinel sublime.
The rhythmic tread from stately march,
The guards patrol each hall.
Clicking heels on polished floors,
Within the turrets, tall.

A bellow from a king enraged,
Creates a smashing din.
The click of coins in treasury,
As gold's stacked deep within.
Idle beating of the breeze,
Upon flags hoisted high.
Thundering on fabric bright,
Then whistling to the sky.

Webbed wing of the Gallion flock,
So soft the echoed beat.
A rumbling groan, Turmaculus,
He seeks a feast to eat.
Creaking croaks of Mortogs small,
A Symol scurries by.
Scratching noises as he digs,
The dirt aloft doth fly!

Brisk, the sound as arrows fly,
Toward the bullseye stand.
The flap of tiny Turdle fins,
Sounds soft across the land.
Rumbling, rolling, cheese on grass,
It barrels down the hill.
The cries of those who run behind,
Are louder, even still.
