RUKI DAY SPECIAL

Desert Guards
By Mysticelfje

Guards of the desert
Towering high
Over all that is breathing
All that's alive

With strong body armour
They withstand the attack
And defend Sakhmet City
From front down to back

These creatures of desert
With a smile on their face
Will walk 'round the cities
In a murdering pace

Not once they'll be resting
In the hot blazing sun
At the end of the day still walking
Just as fast as they begun

But today is the day for fun and relaxing
To rest, and enjoy the good view
For this one time a year,
With never a fear
We celebrate, that Ruki Day is here!

The Ruki Defender
By Anjie

He hails from an arid land,
A golden desert, cast in sand.
And given that the climate's right,
You'll find him training, every night.
The thudding sounds of Yooyuball,
And 'Dirty' Navers, standing tall.

This fierce defender leads the team,
Though not with honor, it might seem.
For some say though he plays to win,
His soul's aggressive, deep within.
This Ruki true, does play the game,
But trouble seems linked with his name.

A spindly elbow, thrust on out,
From opposition brings a shout.
But Ruki claims it's all fair play,
"It's cheating!" other teams might say.
And though this Ruki does play rough,
He keeps within the rules enough!

Four legs do carry him so fast,
The others left, he dashes past.
His foot outstretched, and then it's dipped,
An outcry, though he claims he 'slipped'.
This Ruki plays defensive game,
Not caring that it taints his name!

A Camouflage Critter
By Melina719

Where the grass wears a crown of dew,
Where the sun will meekly peak
Lives a creature small but cunning,
A camouflage Ruki.
He works all day and all night,
Sweat a veil for his brows,
But still he must be on the watch
For what behind him prowls.

Should a Meowclops dare to plod his land,
Should a Slorg venture his place,
He'll let his lush skin melt into the scene,
Leave no mark upon his face.
If night brings forth an eerie beast-
That'll be no match for him!
He'll let the shadows take his figure,
And dress him dark and dim.

Could a bug collector's jar cast his fate?
Not against those nimble feet!
He'll run fast in a blur of hazel,
Every step graceful and neat.
Maybe a Kougra can chase him tired?
Now that is something rare!
He'll just jump high, agile and quick,
Suspending in the air.

No Lenny can outwit this creature,
No regal pet can buy his coat,
For he is always on the move,
His skills worthy of gloat.
And when he flashes that triumphant grin,
Antennae bouncing with much glee,
Return a friendly wave or smile,
One bright enough for him to see!

Ruki's Home
By Flutedad

Searing sands scorching sun
Drive pet and Petpet into shade
The desert is the Ruki's world
'Or blowing dust see Rukis wade

Rukis travel burning sands
Feel no distresses or dismay
A carapace guards and protects
From burning sun at height of day

Fleet as faerie Rukis move
From dune to dune they run
Seeking treasure lost in the sand
And sometime running just for fun

If the Lost Desert merits the name
Confounds you by its shifting sand
A Ruki Scout is what you need
Providing you a guiding hand

Waste and wilds dust and grit
A place no pet would dare call home
It's here that Rukis work and play
It's here that Rukis roam

Homeward Bound: A Ruki's Wanderings
By Mithril_mithrandir

He marches through the dunes of sand,
Native of this desert land,
Walking, searching -- he's alone
In his quest to find his home.

Aimless wand'ring, he is lost,
He'll make it back, at any cost,
Though days go by, turn into weeks,
He cannot find the thing he seeks.

He has no map, no compass small,
He has no guidance, none at all,
Just instinct and a driving force,
And Ruki legs -- but of course!

He walks until his feet are numb,
And then he crawls, one inch by one,
Determined as a pet can be,
He will find his home -- just wait and see!

A shadowed figure, walking still,
Up the dunes and down the hills,
Throat so parched, he dares not rest,
Home does beckon; he'll find it yet.

By Uni flying through the clouds,
By sled, by sail, or wheel so round,
He searches for home, by hand or foot,
Wandering close, nearly there, but...

Years have gone by, the landscape changed,
He wanders still, now quite deranged,
Seeking the thing he has not found,
Forever walking, homeward bound.
