Old Friends

Oh what a phrase, so asinine
That a younger me would once believe
In bustling times, I would not see

Dear old friends, where are you now? 
I think back when, remember how
We dreamt together, connected by boards
Hung out in guilds, chatted in hoards

Day-by-day, plot-by-plot
The pets we painted, items we sought
Goals we made, forever in mind
Draik morph pots, we sought to find

Tell me friends, which dreams came true?
The custom gallery, you sought to do
Or did you find the perfect pet?
The one you'd not traded up yet

One-by-one, we went our ways
Since I'd left, countless days
How long in Neopia, did you stay
Before you too, went far away?

10 long years, since some I've seen
I wonder how you all have been
In words it mocks "you must be lonely"
But I fear not, such words are folly

Time has passed, that much is true
Gone are friends, who I once knew 
But still, neofriendships have no end
So long as memories keep us friends

Mira's Memory

A spacious place
it seems, is space
I travel along, steps I retrace
to find a lonely Grundo's face
is this a memory to be embraced?

This small blue thing
gives my mind a ring
reminds me of a long-ago spring
where we danced and sang, oh did we sing!
That long ago forgotten spring

I find, I find
that in due time
memories have escaped my mind
about this small blue friend of mine
a friend from somewhere, some place, some time

Perhaps I should go closer, then
to this Grundo from way-back-when
this small blue cheery little friend--
but why did our time come to an end?

I look behind--a sudden flash
the Grundo is gone, in such a dash!
All that's left: a purple sash
left behind in the glittering ash

and as I sit with what seems now
a mirage of a memory, I somehow
seem to be scrunching up my brow
and shedding a tear for this friend, who now

has gone away into this space
where I wander and retrace

Coils up, gets ready to spring

I am your guard lupe,
Keeper of only the best dreams, I
Coil up, get ready to spring
Onto you excitedly, as you wake drowsily.

But unknowingly, as you sleep and dream
Of adventures, our travels together,
Your guard lupe turns your alarm off, as we listen to
The night sounds as they happen, all around us

Secret of the Faerie Forest

Your footsteps are slow
in twilight’s dark hour -
As in blackest of dreams,
like moving through water -
And strange creatures, 
like nightmares,
they swing through the trees.
When far past the shadows
you turn and you see
there, in the distance,
a firelight gleam.

The drums, how they pound,
and the bells, how they ring -
for here are the Faeries,
and they dance for their queen.
Here they halt,
and welcome you
into their circle of warmth and light.
Away from dusky, forest gloom,
and into the ways 
of the Faerie sight.

The queen, she smiles
and offers her hand -
Thus begins
an adventure quite grand.
For the Faeries,
they waited
for someone like you
to reveal the magic,
and uncover the truth -
of their stories and ways,
until now so unseen:
Concealed in plain sight,
a forest of dreams.

I've Returned

It's been a while since I wrote a poem...
I've been away you see. 
I picked up the pen, feeling warmth again
Words brewing up inside of me. 

What could I write? To celebrate this feeling
Should I talk about my elation? Oh, the anticipation - - 
As I shake the pen, the ink bubbling up again. 

I prepare the fresh sheet, for where my words should meet
The glossy white page, it's energy beaming with mine. 
I smile with delightful glee, for I feel free... 
'tis a beautiful day to be me.

New Year

A new year is about the start!
Maybe I will begin with an apricot tart.

No longer will games be played with flash.
Not to worry Neo is making a mad dash,

to fix the site for all to still play
and have fun every day!

So raise a glass of nimmo bubbly surprise for a toast,

Mutant Ummagine

Oh dear, this fruit looks quite grotesque.
It looks preposterous.
What hellish seed put forth this fruit?
It's foul and hideous!

I hold this fruit aloft and think,
What evil lurks inside?
Its outer husk is slimy, pink.
I'm truly horrified!

Its freakish looks are quite obscene.
It's loathsome, strange and queer.
It's Mutant fruit, that much is sure.
Its ugliness is clear!

However, I will give this fruit
A change to earn esteem.
I slice it into hearty chunks
And serve it with some cream!

And what is this…? The fruit is great!
Such sweet and luscious stuff!
It's ripe and gorgeous, syrupy,
And I can't get enough!

I lick my fingers greedily.
I wipe my dripping chin.
I reach for yet another slice.
I cannot help but grin!

This fruit was such a gorgeous treat,
Despite its Mutant looks!
I now appreciate this fruit,
With love that can't be shook!

Changing with the Times

The site we love and know
remains with us through it all. 

Everything in time takes shape,
our beloved site cannot escape,
but it adapts and remains.

The layout may not look
the same comfortable way in our book,
but the site is still here and remains.

You could say that Neopets
changes with the times, even resets,
always remaining a constant for us.
