Gelert Day Special

The Grey Gelert
by miraday

Some Gelerts have a full lifetime
Of bolting through fields carefree,
Exploring the way to Neopia’s ends,
Making new friends and memories.

I am content with a different choice:
I take up this solemn post instead,
Waiting outside the building’s door
That my owner last walked in.

It may have only been seconds,
A couple minutes or maybe more;
Yet all time spent away from him
Turns to eternity outside the store.

I will wait until his errand is done,
And we’ll be on our way again—
Did I tell myself that moments ago
Or was it yesterday I last said?

A couple times since being here
The building’s outside has changed.
New customers pet me as they pass
The new signs; yet I wait the same.

I used to be yellow and spry— now,
I see a Grey Gelert in my reflection.
I peer past my image and inside
Hoping he’s done with his errand.

I will wait for a thousand hours,
Days, through endless seasons
Until my grey coat grows greyer
Without questioning your reason.

Some Neopets would have left,
But Gelerts have faithful loyalty
Unwavering in any context,
Including waiting forever calmly.

Maybe it’s been longer than said:
Neopets pass by, looking different
I’ve seen trees grow green, then red
All from my same omnipresence.

In sunny skies or incessant rain,
Busy days or lazy weekends, too.
I look forward to our reunion.
Patiently, I will wait for you.

Even if it takes the rest of time,
Even if I am grey and permanent blue,
Even if this wait knows no end,
Lovingly, I will wait for you.

The Gelert at the Wheel of Misfortune
by potential_ruler

“Go ahead… pull,” urges a hidden call.
You look up and down but see no one around.
Who said that? There’s nobody at all.
Deserted, by name, is this haunted fairground.

Before you stands an enormous wheel
Made of tree root, and bone, and a giant eyeball.
You reach with a curious hand to feel,
When suddenly a slithering shadow rises tall.

A Gelert silhouette appears, long and thin,
Then tips his hat and takes a bow.
"Care for a turn?" The Gelert asks with a grin.
"Go on... spin the wheel now."

"You never can tell what the wheel might give," he croaks
As you go in for the twirl.
“...or take away,” he adds slyly. Was that a joke?
“You know you want to give it a whirl.”

The shadow guides your hand to the lever.
The rusted steel is ice-cold to the touch,
But your palm sweats with a nervous fever.
“What are you waiting for? It won’t hurt… much.”

“Go ahead… pull.”

Gelert Day Offering
by gumgum101230

I scuttled through the icy cave,
Careful and restrained--
I knew I must keep silent here,
To hide from those contained.

Through the maze, I stalked a thief,
The leader of the Guild--
His name was Kanrik the Gelert,
A criminal most skilled.

I lost my target soon enough,
And as I turned to flee--
It was not long before I found
He had instead caught me!

“There you are,” the Gelert hissed,
Wielding swords as a threat--
“Don’t you know that Gelerts can smell
Sneaky Neopets’ sweat?”

“Many apologies!” I cried,
Not sure where to begin--
Quickly, without explanation,
I threw a gift at him.

He caught the Snowager Charm midair,
And he glanced at me, confused--
“Did you really think that this toy
Would make me feel amused?”

“I know it’s not much,” I replied,
Collecting myself once more--
“I just thought that, on Gelert Day,
You might listen, I implore…

“I stole this charm from a great beast,
Risking life and limb--”
Before I could finish my request,
Kanrik said, “You’re in.”

Bruno the (newly) Brave Gelert
by kiwigoddesskimmie

Bruno had grown up to be so mild
always dreaming of being brave
His dreams pushed him to the wild
where he hid alone in a cave

He fell in love with a beautiful girl
but he was just a boring bloke
So he gave a stranger's potion a whirl
incurring the wrath of the townsfolk

For they wanted in on the potion
and to reap all the benefits too
They created quite a commotion
when they realized what it would do

The benefits lasted a short while
but then the townsfolk transformed
Into hideous creatures most vile
and after Bruno they stormed

In one last courageous act
Bruno helped his little sister leave
And after the town had attacked
He escaped to the woods for reprieve

Bruno wanted to return to his town
but was overcome by hesitation
He couldn't risk being seen around
still looking like an abomination

So alone in a cave he chose to stay
for the next ten years or so
Until a young Usul lost her way
and then... oh, what a Tale of Woe!

Sandro the Seeker
by trubiekatie

A rather dapper member of the Seekers,
Never one to be seen in sneakers.
An outrageous mop of long white locks,
So thick it acts as a total sight block.

He might be the Smug Philosopher to some,
Especially when the factions are in full scrum.
Part of the Seekers crew, alongside he will fight.
Drawn by the excitement of the boons and light.

Hailing from Brightvale, he is dressed very well,
Puffy sleeves and a long coat, if you could not tell.
He doesn’t do well with dirt on his sleeves,
I wonder how he feels about those cunning Thieves?

I get the sense that brains are his strength,
And wearing nice scarves with added length.
On this Gelert Day, let's cheer to Sandro our dashing friend.
I’ll find you in a library tending to a bookend.

A Gorgeous Gelert of Mosaics so Marvelous
by _brainchild_

Oh, how I adore the Mosaic Gelert!
Without its sheer beauty, my happiness hurts.
The stones, flat and smooth, guarantee pure delight.
With grace, they reflect every sunbeam of light!

The shards of cerulean mirror waves of sea;
The violet of royals is dazzling for me.
If only the ears were an elegant green.
The emeralds so rich would be joyfully seen!

The eyes shall enthrall, for they're made of pure gold!
The gems are authentic, from what I am told.
The necklace shall boast the same ravishing shine.
The splendor of both is unique and divine!

I have a Gelert, so its form would be best
If it were Mosaic, surpassing the rest
In glamour and charm. How I long for this hue,
A masterpiece crafted from purple and blue.

Majestic Maraquan Gelert
by milestrong

Within the seas and oceans vast,
There swims a pet with glee,
A Gelert of Maraquan form,
A beauty, proud and free.

She is so stunning yet quite meek,
Her skin, a purple hue;
And eyes just like the sea, azure,
With spots, so lovely too!

She likes to dance in waters deep,
She moves with such fine grace,
There’s nothing more that she prefers,
Than ocean’s cold embrace.

And when the clouds let burst the rain,
And when the droplets fall,
Our little, lovely Gelert friend,
Will play and have a ball!

A dazzling beaut this Gelert is;
She is a work of art,
And more than just her pretty face,
She has the biggest heart!

Origami Gelert
by indulgences

Folded oh so carefully,
This Gelert comes to life.
It’s origami majesty.
It’s paper, cut with knife!

It’s crafted with the finest care
To show a Gelert’s form.
It’s made of paper magical
That can’t be ripped or torn!

Oh, Gelert made of paper bright,
How lovely you do look!
I love your sunny yellow hue,
With zeal that can’t be shook!

It’s Gelert Day, and I would like
To own an Origami pet!
Perhaps an Origami Gelert would
Be something I should get!

A Zombie Gelert Friend
by antelope44

A Gelert can be very charming
He can be sweet and meek and kind and mellow
If he looks an awful lot like a zombie fellow
You might find him rather alarming!

Scraggly, raggedy, dirty and green
He looks a bit lost and rather unsightly
But if you ask for directions very politely,
You'll find he's not very mean.

He's easy to get along with, once you know his quirks
Him and his pals- and there are a number
Like to sleep late, and doze in comfort
He doesn't like to lay in the dirt.

He might not see you when you first approach
Call out "Hello Gelert!" and see him turn
You might have some Zombie based bias you'll have to unlearn
That's okay though, he's a very good coach.

A zombie Gelert can make a great friend
He's fashionable and quite a good talker
If you become very good friends, you can even wear matching collars
You can always rely on him, straight to the Zombie end.

Gilbert the Gelert
by orlytheowl

Gilbert the Gelert owns the grand fields
You can Pick Your Own, and keep all that it yields
You may be lucky and find berries sweet
Or you can find stuff that you really shouldn't eat

Gilbert is yellow, and lives in Meridell
Here he thrives and his life is quite well
He spends his days doing what he does best
To tend to his fields, he has no need for rest

But he can be naughty, and you may very well find
Items he doesn't need and that he's left behind
You may find dung or Pieces of Wool
Not the sweet berries, that will make you drool
