Moonlight fluttered around a group of rocks as she got
higher and higher on the mountain. From her height she could see a beautiful
waterfall. She laughed out loud when she saw a small canoe head for the
fall. "Whoever is on that better jump out..." then her smile faded. "Oh…
that's a kid on the canoe. He must be in trouble. Somehow I'm going to
try and save him."
She folded her wings and tucked her legs to her body
and rocketed downward toward the doomed canoe and passenger.
"…Ahhhhhhh…." Sheik felt his body leave the canoe and
sail through the air for a few seconds and then felt the pull of gravity
as he fell towards the water.
Suddenly the back of his shirt was tugged and he found
himself dangling in the air. He saw his canoe fall to the bottom of the
waterfall and heard a splintering sound. Twisting around he tried to see
what was keeping him up.
"Hold still…" he heard a voice say. "Or I'll drop you!"
He was zoomed to a nearby cliff and his feet touched the ground.
He turned and saw a yellow Uni staring right back at
him.
"So…any reason why you were going over that waterfall?"
MoonLight grinned.
Sheik laughed as his face flushed. "I kinda didn't know
it was there…" he said shyly. "Uh…thanks."
"You're welcome," said Moonlight "But what were you
doing before you went over the falls?"
"Looking for…ah…you."
"For me?" Moonlight was taken aback.
"Well, not really. I, uh, I'm looking for a friend really."
"Me too," said Moonlight sadly.
"So uh…" Sheik looked around. "This is a nice bit of
scenery, but uh, you wanna do something…or…uh," Sheik, smiled nervously
at Moonlight
She rolled her eyes. "Oh, I see," she smiled. "Don't
worry, I'll take you to the top." 'I hope', she added silently to herself.
Sheik climbed on MoonLight's back and she zoomed to the
top of the waterfall.
"Uh, thanks again," Sheik said. "Boy, were you in the
right spot at the right time. Like destiny or something."
"Yeah," Moonlight grinned. "Well, if that's all then
I better be going."
"Why?" Sheik was startled that his new friend was leaving
so soon.
"I'm on a quest," Moonlight said thoughtfully. "You see,
I'm trying to find something I'm good at. My parents think I'm a failure."
She drooped her head sadly.
"Of course you're not!" Sheik said truthfully. "You just
saved me from falling off the waterfall! I don't think a failure could
have done that!"
Moonlight sighed. "I guess you're right."
Sheik thought for a moment then said, "If you're aren't
doing anything, then maybe you could spend a night at my house. That way
you can rest up before you continue."
Moonlight smiled. "Thanks," she said. "Hey, where are
your parents? Do they know where you are?"
"Oh no," Sheik said. "We better get back to my house,
before they have the police send the search Lupes out!"
Moonlight and Sheik walked back along the bank, each
thinking their own thoughts. Soon the rapids slowed. As they rounded a
bend they saw a small Water Faerie sitting on a rock talking to an Air
Faerie. Then the Air Faerie flew off. The Water Faerie turned around.
Sheik was surprised. It was the same Water Faerie he had seen before.
The Water Faerie looked at Moonlight "Are you the Uni
that saved this kid from the water fall?"
Moonlight was surprised. "Uh, yeah," she said.
The Water Faerie smiled. That was very brave. I'll award
you by giving you the ability, heal. She waved her hand and then frowned.
"That's funny," she said. "Have you been blessed before?"
Moonlight frowned. "No, I don't think so."
The Water Faerie frowned again. "You seem to know a
lot of abilities. Well then I'll bless you with Healing Vapour instead."
She waved her arms and then disappeared.
Sheik turned to Moonlight "You didn't say you were so
strong," he said. "That's so cool. But we better get back to my house."
Moonlight nodded and they continued their walk.
As they approached Sheik's house, Sheik groaned when
he saw Jon and Marv outside. He saw they had out their twin Skeiths.
Moonlight looked at Sheik. "What's the matter?"
Suddenly Jon and Marv came running. "Hey Sheik!" yelled
Marv. "What're you doing with that fat pony?!"
Moonlight snorted. How DARE they call her a pony. "Actually,"
she said, trying to control her temper. "I'm a UNI and not a PONY."
This caused Jon and Marv to laugh harder. "It can talk!"
they laughed. "The fat pony can talk!"
"Leave her alone," Sheik said angrily.
"Oh, all right," Jon said evilly. "WE'LL leave your pony
alone, but Skinner and Killer won't." And with that, Marv and Jon stepped
away letting Skinner and Killer the Skeiths loose. They growled and looked
at Moonlight and Sheik angrily.
"Uh oh…" said Sheik.
Will Skinner and Killer eat Moonlight? Will Sheik ever
see his friend again? Will the two get even with Jon and Marv? Find out
