"Captain? Yes. Yes I can hear you, Sir. I've been hit. My primary fuel tanks got the brunt of the damage. They're empty. Automated navigation won't respond and the ion drives are completely shot. I won't be able to make the shift to hyperspace."

"How could this happen? We double, even triple, checked the background of our contact. There was nothing in the records that could have tipped us off."

"I don't know Sir, but it was definitely an ambush. They knew exactly where and when I'd arrive. Orders, Sir?"

"The mission must be completed. If you cannot repair the drives, you must use your reserve fuel supply."

"I would Sir, but I'm afraid even on reserve I won't have enough to make it more than halfway to the final destination... I'm sorry, Captain. I've failed the mission. There's nothing that I can do now that would... Hold on, is that...? Sir, I've managed to locate what appears to be an N-class planet in Sector 6. It's risky, but I might be able to land."

"Hmm...Sector 6 has not been fully charted yet. No one knows what kind of beings might be out there. But, you will have to risk it. The success of your mission is too vital to our future not to try. Good luck Commander."

"Roger that Captain. First Commander of the Ximenax Regiment signing off."

Meanwhile, back on the world of Neopia, in the jungles of Mystery Island...

"Look, for the last time, you can't have a petpet. With four pets, I just can't afford to buy one. I'm sorry. Cheer up though. If we save enough, I promise you'll be to first one to get a petpet. Okay?"

A disheartened little Jubjub sadly nods in agreement. He looks up to the sky and his eyes fill with the light of what appears to be a shooting star

"Did you see that!? Let's go find out what it is!"

"Whoa. I can't believe I made it."

The Commander taps gently beneath her left ear, turning on her nano recorder.

"Ugh, this is going to take a lot more time than I thought to fix. In the meantime, I'm going to cloak my ship, just in case, and go find fresh water. I'll also have to...what's that sound?"

"That's weird, I can smell smoke, but I don't see any sign of the meteorite. Hey, is that what I think it is? It is! It's a Harris. Poor thing looks awful. I think she must have fallen from her tree.

The girl carefully picks up the creature and shows it to her Jubjub

"I doubt she belongs to anyone, and if she does she's better off with us if this is how they take care of her. I guess you're getting a petpet sooner than you thought. What do you think we should call her?

"Huggles."
