The Secrets Behind the Chef

by bluescorchio104

Curious about the mysterious chef on Mystery Island, The Neopian Times sent me, journalist bluescorchio104, to investigate. After a long sea journey, and a short rest stop at Krawk Island, I finally made to the home of this famous culinary genius. I knocked at the door and upon hearing a resounding "Come in!", I let myself in. As I entered the house the first thing I noticed was a pungent aroma in the air. Try as I might, I could not place a name to this mysterious scent. Finally, after making my way through various rooms stuffed with Hularoos and Clay Vases, I found the Chef, where else, but in the kitchen. The room was filled with a misty green haze and enormous vats full of strange concoctions. I sat down on a bamboo chair, introduced myself and promptly began my interview.

Bluescorchio104: How are you coping with the relocation from Maraqua to Mystery Island?

Chef: Well it was very sudden, but the change of scenery is nice, although I do sometimes miss my old home (a tear runs down his cheek).

Bs104: How do you feel towards your new employer Mumbo Pango?

Chef: He did give me a job on very short notice, although I wish he wouldn't eat so much. I keep on trying to convince him to go on a diet, but it's hard to persuade someone who could probably eat you for dinner and still have room for dessert.

Bs104: Why do you constantly ask for ingredients for your recipes?

Chef: Well, with having to keep an eye on everything and all, I just don't have time to go the shops and buy stuff.

Bs104: Why do you create such bizarre recipes for Mumbo Pango?

Chef: Well, you know humungous tropical giants, they like variety.

Bs104: What inspires you to cook up such strange concoctions such as Spiced Chicken and Beef Mash?

Chef: Well, I have a giant model of the Wheel of Excitement in that room over there (points at a room on the far side of the kitchen), with all the foods in the entire of Neopia listed around the edge of the wheel. Whenever Mumbo Pango needs me to create a new recipe, I just spin the wheel a few times to choose the ingredients. Then I just ask whoever comes by to get them for me. Thanks to my superb culinary skills (flashes a modest smile), I can usually whip up a delicious meal from the ingredients.

Bs104: (Hopefully) Do you think that you could give our readers a few cooking tips? Maybe a sneak peek into your superior cooking skills?

Chef: I don't think so.

Bs104: Oh, well (sigh). You can't blame a guy for trying.

Bs104: I noticed a few Hularoos on the way in. Do you collect Island Merchandise?

Chef: Oh, yes. Now that I'm living on Mystery Island I can play Tombola and visit the Tiki Tack shop everyday. The Tiki Tack man was one of the first friends I made I first arrived on Mystery Island. Now he and I are very good friends. "Where's my dinner?!?!?" Sorry, must rush, Mumbo Pango is calling for his dinner (ushers me towards the door).

Bs104: Can I ask one more question?

Chef: Well, obviously, you've just done so, but you can ask me another question, as long as you make it snappy.

Bs104: Why do you keep an olive speared on your horn? It looks ridiculous.

Chef: It's a good luck charm. Besides, if I ever get hungry I'll have something to eat won't I? Goodbye!

Bs104: Butů(Door slams in my face).

Well, there you have it folks, a unique insight to the life of this somewhat eccentric culinary genius, and to why he has that olive stuck on his horn. Don't you think it looks ridiculous? I mean, a good luck charm? Personally I would go without the luck if I had to look like that, but anyway, that's it from me for now.

A few minutes later a rotten Chokato flew out a window of the Chef's house and hit journalist bluescorchio104 directly on the head, and a voice could be heard saying "And that's for the remark about the olive looking stupid!"
